107 km north from the gas station at Tres Lagos, just beyond an SOS relay, meters from a guardaganado, take a left on a small sand road.
There's is big flat area just ahead, but we've found a smaller pull out on the sand road further in the direction of the lake.
Some wind protection, lots of guanacos and nandus around. No trash.

Nuit très calme dans la pampa. Juste en bord de route dans un petit renfoncement. Idéal.
Report Check-InGreat wildcamp with some wind protection. Just follow the tracks toward the lake and you will eventually get to this location. it's nice and clean. please help us to keep it clean. Take your toilet paper with you. @Fearlessonfourwheels
Report Check-InBeautiful place to stay the night. We arrived just in time to be able to have a glass of wine with the sunset. Great stop in the way between El Chaltén and Los Antiguos.
There’s no wind protection as far as we could see, but the wind was very mild our night here. Not sure if this is normal or not.
If you have a cloud-free night, make sure to set the alarm to watch the stars! There’s no light pollution at all
Report Check-InLocation is great, it has wind protection and a nice view on Lago Cardiel. A good overnight spot when you are travelling on Ruta 40. Can definitely recommend. Also no need for 4x4.
Report Check-InVery very nice spot !
Alone, quiet, view on the lake, juste perfect!
You see the road, but it is quite far so you don’t heard anything (and very few passages).
You can access even with a big 2WD motorhome.
Spot vraiment super!
Isolé, paisible, vue sur le lac : juste parfait!
On a visuel sur la route mais elle est loin donc on ne l’entend pas (et en plus il y a très peu de passage).
Endroit accessible même avec un gros camping car 2WD.
....and if you take the track o the eastern entrance of the turn out you can drive for kilometers towards the lake. lots of camping spots for tents and big rigs. no 4WD required
