El Salvador
Mario runs a boat service that connects motorcyclists or bicyclist from El Salvador to Honduras and Nicaragua. He has a few boats. One is 40 passenger fast boat, as well as having a 60 passenger slower boat. Our group used him to transport 35 bicycles, 1000kg of bags, and 35 cyclists. First we used him to transport us to Isla del Tigre, and afterwards to Nicaragua. It's a huge help if you're wanting to avoid the hectic land borders between Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador. Speaking with him, he has transported 3 bikes at a time, but figures up to 8 is possible in a single run. Mario Melendrez is a cool guy, and can also help with clearing customs in either Honduras, or Nicaragua. He is based in La Union, although he can pick you up in either Nicaragua or Honduras.

To go to Nicaragua (Potosi), departures each Tuesday and Friday. You have to enter in contact with Mario (number above with WhatsApp) to book you trip. We've been 3 bicycles on a boat and 2 dogs (Mario is pet friendly). Serious company, Mario is available for all requests. Good option to skip Honduras if going down south and scenery cruise in the middle of the volcanic islands. At this time, it costed us 65 USD pp with a bicycle, 55 USD pp without.
Report Check-InWas not running when we were there in 2021. Guy was super nice! We had bikes but just kept on biking towards Nicaragua
