Nice little campground. I only stayed the night and had to leave in the morning. Showers/bathroom was decent enough. Gorgeous views of the stars, moon, and sun rise! Office closes at 4:30pm, so self check in after that. Gates are closed at 10pm, so get there before then. If there aren't any envelopes in the parking lot after hours check in, park is full. Make sure to take a picture of the reserved spots before going down the hill to the campsites. When I went, all the sites said reserved, but the map at the check in showed was was actually reserved. I'm assuming someone didn't update each site marker as people were leaving.
Spotty service with Verizon, but enough that I could slowly browse and watch Netflix.
I would definitely stay here again.

Dunes, sand, wind. Good for one night. Without an ocean on the other side of the dunes it just doesn’t make sense to stay. Beautiful sunrise. Stayed in site # 6.

we got here in afternoon of Nov 2, it is such a nice place we decided to stay 2 nights. Easy access for big rigs, we have truck and 28' RV, had no problem and there were several big motor homes. Sites have water and electricity but need to go to headquarter for dumping.

Loved it here but if you're not into the sun, sand and heat may not be for you. Each site has a sun shelter and grill box and lots of sand. Only sand. Rent a sand sled for $6 but I couldn't get much speed. Kids seemed to have better luck. Spotty Verizon and a little better AT&T LTE

Nice camp spot out of view from the oil fields. Quiet, nice bathrooms, water and electricity hook up. You can hike/play on the sand. Good price. Would stay again if I had to drive through here again.

Report Check-In

Good place to camp in the sand dunes. Each spot has a picnic table and BBQ. Very clean restrooms with three showers per restroom. Windy at times but some of the campsites are well protected from the wind and sand. Camping is $15 per night plus $4 per person state park entrance fee. Also, the park office has sledding discs for rent. Absolutely NO Verizon cell service or data in the campground. Be sure to bring your own groceries as there are no grocery stores nearby.

Obviously where there’s San dunes there’s bound to be wind. Unfortunately I landed here on a horribly windy day 35-55 mph winds. Sand blowing in every nook, crack, and cranny. Not really much to see or do. I would consider this area between Carlsbad NM and here pretty much the doorway to H E dbl hockey sticks!! Decent place to stay for the night if u need a shower (clean & good shape) and power/ water for $15 ( good price) hope I never have to drive through west Texas/ Permian valley again. This area looks like dog excrement!! Nothing to see here these poor folks out here must be miserable.
