Only 1 bunk bed left, no electricity, no burner. The outside fills you with hope but its run down. Just a fancy looking wind break.

Good views though

None of the described amenities are still here (no stove or power, even the bed bases have been taken out) but it is still a very good refugio for cyclists - lots of room for mats (five, very comfortably), good double glazing, clean floor and beautiful panoramic sunset views over the bay.

A portaloo has now been placed in the toilet area - it’s pretty gross but would work in a pinch. Thankfully the design of this refugio is quite different from the earlier ones and therefore the smell doesn’t leak into the living space at all. Alternatively there’s lots of good diggable ground around.

We are on bikes - we pedalled down the hill into Cameron (short but quite steep) to buy bits from the los pioneros shop (meagre selection) and to fill up on water at the bus station/public toilet. I’m sure we could have slept there as others have done but we appreciated having the privacy afforded by the refugio.

There is a toilet and 3 (bunk) beds for shelter out of the wind or rain. There is no heating but saw some electricity outlets, did not check if it was possible to use. For a shower you can use the bus stop in Cameron just 1k further up the road.

It's seems like a great place but sadly it's close at the moment... I don't know if it's "covid related" or something else.
Hope it will reopen soon!

We were very thankful to find this luxury place (with electricity!) after a windy day. There are three bunk 'beds', as in three nets to lie on. It's been open for 4 months now and it is unbelievable how people have treated this place. The wood stove has been robbed (like in all others refugios that we passed), fire extinguishers have been robbed, a lot of stuff has been broken. Let's try to save this pearl guys!

Big clean building. Lots of floor space to sleep if the 3 beds are occupied . No heating or furniture.
A stand to park your bike.

Wanted to stay in Camerones, but the bus station spot is under construction. A lady approached us (presumable from municipalidad) and said, that they now have a camping with hot showers and potable water, but the charge 10‘000 Pesos pP (!!!), that was too much for us and we found this refugio. It‘s pretty new and seems not to be completed yet. Pit toilet is reasonably clean and electricity works fine. We parked right next to it (a few bumpy meters, high clearance (and in the wet 4x4) helps.

One of the best refugios around, solar power providing working lights and a wall plug for charging electronics. 3 large bunks and plenty of space for extra people to sleep on the floor. Pit toilet. Really a shame that the stove was stolen, as seems to have happened to a number of refugios in the area. Water available from Cameron nearby.
