Something not right?

Description

Large brand new refugio / shelter to stay overnight or hide from the bad weather. It has a pit toilet, 3 bunkbeds and even electricity via solar power. There was a woodstove but it was gone already (stolen?)

Latest Check-Ins

None of the described amenities are still here (no stove or power, even the bed bases have been taken out) but it is still a very good refugio for cyclists - lots of room for mats (five, very comfortably), good double glazing, clean floor and beautiful panoramic sunset views over the bay.

A portaloo has now been placed in the toilet area - it’s pretty gross but would work in a pinch. Thankfully the design of this refugio is quite different from the earlier ones and therefore the smell doesn’t leak into the living space at all. Alternatively there’s lots of good diggable ground around.

We are on bikes - we pedalled down the hill into Cameron (short but quite steep) to buy bits from the los pioneros shop (meagre selection) and to fill up on water at the bus station/public toilet. I’m sure we could have slept there as others have done but we appreciated having the privacy afforded by the refugio.

Report Check-In

The interior is, unfortunately, trashed - as described in previous reviews. Solar panels are on the roof but the cables have been vandalized. Pit toilet is present, though, so the place is still usable for those with a motorhome who need a toilet. There is a bit of terrain to the right of the refugio that fits one motorhome and is fairly level as well.

Refugio door is open, check same location for other reviews.

Report Check-In

The refugio is closed at the moment... :(

Report Check-In

Big clean building with plenty of floor space if the three beds are occupied. Rack for bike parking. Sockets didn't work while I was there but the lights did.

Report Check-In

A big refugio compared to the others we have seen. 3 bunk beds with more floor space for people to sleep. It is nice and clean too. Quite cold though because of the big windows! If you get the sun in the day, should be nice and warm.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, new and clean. Please keep it that way! It should be possible to buy bread in Cameron (somewhere next to a green house), although the lady baking the bread was not there when we looked for it.
