Description

Parking lot at end of road, next to Churchill River. Beautiful view of river, and short trail to view of tail races. No signs prohibiting overnight parking or camping. Nice grassy picnic area with small screened gazebo, 3 outside picnic tables, 2 benches. Looks like a larger gazebo is being built. Boat ramp, as well as wooden staircase down to river and dock. 2-3 bars 4G reception! As usual, lots of black flies and mosquitos, unless there is a breeze.

Superbe endroit pour dormir un nuit. Un peu de va et vient mais tranquille. les gens sont courtois

A very scenic spot right next to Churchill River with a level gravel parking lot. Could not ask for a better view! For google maps use Churchill Falls Tailrace Picnic Site. It's approximately 5 kms on a gravel road (which is in good condition) from the Trans Labrador Hwy - and about 6 kms from the Town Centre. There's a boat ramp, dock, gazebo, picnic tables & fire pits (with firewood). Also a large turbine on display.

great camping spot, locals are very friendly and helpful. Hill is steep but manageable with our truck and fifth wheel camper. fished from shore. great boondocking location.

This is a beautiful boat launch, picnic area right on the river, suggested by locals. It’s a large, open mostly level gravel parking lot with a small grassy area and enclosed gazebo. We arrived on an unusually hot day and there were about 20 cars with boat trailers in and out. All the locals were friendly. There was one other RV overnighting with us, and it was a quiet night. Park near the river for morning sun. There are no services other than a trash can. There’s a weak ATT signal while roaming on Bell, and good Verizon while roaming on Telus. Police and security guards (power plant) patrolled regularly. The Donald Gordon Town Centre is fun to visit. We enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant. There's also a small grocery store with a variety of items, including produce. Overnight RV parking is also allowed at the Town Centre.

Thanks to Hurricane Fiona, the wind was howling and it was raining and snowing when I got here. Not comfortable in roof top tent. So, I aborted and (after much looking) found the hotel inside the company town center, upstairs with no sinage.

There I asked about touristy things nearby and the receptionist laughed. Nope. He mentioned a place to see the river which turns out to be the park of this listing. He said camping there is allowed.

Update on my previous post…. Man who works for power company returned to truck as previously described, saw me in my parked car on phone (I have two bars) and drove right past me without saying a word. I’m sure if overnight parking was not allowed something would’ve been said. Again… There were no signs saying overnight parking not allowed and an employee did not say anything to me so it is reasonable to assume that this place is good for both car camping in RVing and I’m sure no one would object to someone setting up a tent in the lawn area…

Report Check-In

Empty parking lot down a long gravel road about 3 km. Picnic table and garbage bin present along with a fully enclosed gazebo. One white pick up with red flag that looks like it belongs to the power company. Location is by a river. The usual black flies and mosquitos as there is no breeze or wind present at this time. No signs saying you cannot overnight. No signs prohibiting you from car camping or RVing. Very quiet and remote. The likelihood of being bothered is nil.
Seems like a good place if you want to be away from traffic and people.

Super endroit. N'hésitez pas à vous y rendre passer la nuit.

beautifull place as described. look out for a very brutal squirrel, you do not like to have him inside your car! he was on top of the roof and almost fell through the musquito curtain.

Great view. Really nice spot. Very steep hill down getting there and then back up again.

All the same as the previous reviews. A 5km dirt road off route 500 leads to this beautiful spot. There were four other campers/tents here, all appearing to be locals, very friendly, fishing, camping and enjoying the weekend.

Report Check-In

Following the long and pretty steep road to the water you come upon a large gravel lot with picnic benches and a misquito netted gazebo, a boat launch, and a small beach onto the Churchill River. Mostly quiet, except for river noises and quite buggy. But a very nice spot!
