It’s a good, safe spot. Good for tents or vans, which is nice. Just a decently large, grassy pull out along the gravel road. Only had one car drive past last night and two this morning.
We were able to collect a bit of firewood around the area. It wasn’t as incredibly scenic as other comments suggest, but is a very good tent option. A bit windy last night- if wind could be an issue for your set up check the weather!
Road conditions were very good. Any vehicle could make it. Pot holes but none crazy deep- go slow or drive around them.
Enjoy. KEEP IT CLEAN :)
Report Check-InAmazing, private, quiet place! Grassy, was able to pitch a tent no problem. Smells of lemongrass and rosemary filled the air. Sunset was gorgeous. Very foggy in the morning, tent got soaked! No bears, but did see some wild cows down the mountain road a bit. Was totally alone, loved it.
Report Check-InI found Hunter Creek Road and decided to take it to try and get to Siskiyou National Forest, and I wasn’t disappointed. Roughly halfway back to this site, the road turns into a well-kempt gravel road (iOverlander map shows that there is still some distance to Siskiyou N.F.). Keep going as I’m convinced that it is the national forest. There is a spot that looks a bit daunting for a 2-wheel drive, only for its steepness. It’s a dip in the road where there may have been some construction. My van did just fine, as I took it slow.
This site has a pretty nice view across the little mountains out to the Pacific (I could see white caps through a spotting scope). The sunset was lovely.
There is enough room for four or five vans with plenty of room in between them. There’s enough room for a monster RV, but the aforementioned dip would be a hindrance.
