A free, mostly level grassy campground with four tables and fire rings near the historic fort and cemetery. Pit toilets, bring your own paper! Nice shade trees, too. Some noise from trains and highway but not too bad. Low spots in the road are muddy, but we just went out the way we came in and avoided the mud completely.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Perfect free overnight spot. Set GPS to the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Center to avoid a questionable road. Sign at Fort Buford asks that you also check-in at the Center. Had place to ourselves. Site is very well maintained and a great visit.
Report Check-InYou do not have to cross the little bridge to get to this camping area, that is just to get to the cemetery. It is big rig accessible, but watch for low hanging branches on the far end of the loop.
Report Check-InAs reported by others - decent free campground and no one else here. I think most camp at the established Confluence Park campground and since there is no signs on the road that camping is allowed your odds are good to get a site. We called the Confluence Park when we arrived and just gave them our name and phone number to “register “.
Report Check-InRegister at Confluence building (main road). Donation is suggested. Pretty location. The toilet is close to the fort buildings; not within the camping area. There is a fairly stagnant creek that lies between the campsites and the cemetery. We experienced hoards of tiny mosquitoes that managed to find their way into the van and attack all night. Although it was pretty enough to warrant a multi-day visit, we couldn’t be happier to leave the bugs behind by morning.
Report Check-InGrassy area with picnic tables. It's near an older cemetery with interesting tombstones. Mostly leveled. We didn't see the bathroom, but to be honest we didn't search for one either. Fire banned when we were there. You'll need to cross a small bridge to get to the area, bridge limit 4 tons. I had very occasional cell service with atnt. Easy roads.
