We stayed 3 nights. Very nice people. They have a bathroom with hot water, WiFi, ample parking space, laundry. We recommend this place in the Antón Valley if you want to rest.

What a wonderful place to relax for a day or two! Connie was super welcoming and offered her washer and dryer, shower etc. it felt like staying at a relatives house. Be careful not to stand less than 2 feet away from the monkey cage.
Anton is an adorable town. I wish we would have planned at least two or three nights there. There’s amazing hikes all around and all within walking distance but we have a deadline to get our van shipped to Colombia.

I spent 6 nights at Connie and Chuck’s house. What a great couple of people and perfect find for preparing the van for RORO shipping.

They are both extremely kind and welcoming. I showed up just moments after their grandchild was born and as Chuck was preparing to leave the following morning for Burma, and they were still so open to having me stay.

So much great conversation and hospitality from these two. They let me use their laundry machines, fill up in water, and even plug in (although the solar was more than sufficient).

The yard is beautiful, and they have 3 adorable dogs that love attention and want to play constantly. All of the nearby trails are walking distance from their house, but they gave me access to the remote/key pad to get in and out as I pleased. Oh, and a proper shower was so nice. I started each day with a slow morning in their yard and then a hike, followed by borrowing tools to build plywood partitions (wood and hardware available just up the street).

Anyhow, I also normally don’t stay at people’s places because I don’t want to intrude… but staying here was such a pleasant experiences. Thanks so much, guys! Couldn’t have asked for a better week before shipping the van.

We spent 5 nights(!) parked in Connie and Chuck’s garden, and loved getting to know them and the town of El Valle. They are the consummate hosts, generous beyond measure. We enjoyed the shade and the wind block offered by their garden, we filled water, charged our batteries, used their fast wifi, played with their dogs, met the pet monkeys, watched the sunset from their rooftop deck, and they never made us feel like we were imposing. Perfect central location for grocery store, restaurants, hiking, biking, petroglyphs, you name it. The climate of El Valle is very comfortable and about 15 degrees F cooler than Panama City and the coast. Highly recommended!

No exaggeration: One of the best and most memorable stays of our entire time in Central America. Connie and her family are incredibly generous, kind, amazing people.

Their home is quite large, with a big yard and a locked gate. They let us use their kitchen, bathroom (hot showers!!), office space, and even invited us to watch a movie with them! Connie and her daughter Amy also included us in several meals which made us feel so at home. Their stories about living in Panama are absolutely fascinating. Chuck is a disaster reporter and the pair also run a tour company in the area so they’ve really seen it all.

Yes, they live with literal monkeys. Two rescues, one of whom is pictured here with Chuck. They also have two very friendly dogs, who we took hiking with us up at the nearby Iguana ridge. They have a cat named Cat. And...there was a sloth in the tree in their backyard while we were there! Wow.

When we had a little accident with our vehicle, Connie managed to find the exact part we needed and bargained with the guy for a fair price.

We very rarely stay with families, generally weary about encroaching on other people’s lives, but this was 100% worth stepping out of our normal routine. Cannot recommend stopping here enough. Call or email ahead of time, they answered us really quickly!

This is not a pay campsite. Just a friendly family who likes to meet new people.
