In the morning two officers came and told us it is not allowed to stay here overnight. He said it is private property and only allowed for day use. Local residents have apparently complained.
Report Check-InGreat spot. It was busy when we first got there with many locals boating and swimming but very quite in the evening. Saw many birds including a huge bald eagle. We didn’t see any closed road sign and there is now a porta potty.
Report Check-Instayed for a night mid-week in mid-may. very small area (can fit one mid-size van comfortably). in the evening many people drove up and then left. in the morning we were woken up by every albertan bird chirping. not sure whether it was annoying or beautiful, but if you're a light sleeper, keep your windows closed. we really like our spot because of the beautiful sunset over the lake and a beautiful sunrise, too. only suitable for a night since there are so many people passing by. anything longer might grab the attention of a bylaw officer.
Report Check-InVery quiet once it gets dark but earlier there were a lot of locals showing up to launch boats or let dogs swim. No road closed signs at this time but strangely there are signs before you get to this location saying there is no lake access but clearly there is. Good Rogers cell signal.
Report Check-InTiny little beach area where you can swim in the lake. Parked behind the "Road Closed" sign, nobody bothered me all night. In the morning there was a county truck that came by to empty the waste bin that's all. Looks like they're gonna develop this area soon.
Report Check-InThis actual spot has two road closed barriers that we saw people moving around to get past and park. We stopped just around the corner at a pullout by the water fill as it was late and very quiet all night. Nothing special.
Report Check-InInformal boat launch on the shores of Sylvan Lake. Gravel road to get there, quite isolated but locals seem to frequent on weekends. Space for several cars/campers to sleep, just be respectful and don't block the boat launch access. I went here because dogs aren't allowed at any of the official Sylvan Lake beaches. Good stop between Calgary and Edmonton. Has garbage cans but no other amenities.
