Signs say no overnight camping. Bookoooooooooooooooiii

Report Check-In

Hoped to be able to stay here and see the Milkyway tonight but, clearly posted no overnight camping. Maybe ill stay long enough to see some stars, then head back down to Deadwood.

PS: I did pass a couple of pull-offs on the way up but they were too small for my Sprinter van. There may be more spots as Mt Roosevelt Rd continues past the trail head for the tower; saw a sign that said max stay, 14 days to the left of the trail head entrance.

Three spots at this pull off, but plenty more along the road. Made it up the mountain fine in my Prius. Quiet with nice views.

good gravel parking lot for Roosevelt friendship tower trail head. Stayed 7pm to 10am and were the only ones besides one passerthrough. Quiet except for constant howling wind and rain. Easy road, hard pack gravel, just two miles off hwy.

Report Check-In

Big open parking area for the hike up to the tower. Pretty empty this time of year so we stayed in the parking lot and did t try to find the other nearby places. Only a couple cars in and out.
Put toilet. Great 0.6 mile loop hike up to Roosevelt Tower.
The road up is gravel and dirt, well graded. Just a few washboard spots. Might get tough after a rain but it seems very well maintained.

Report Check-In

Arrived here after driving the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway (Rt 14A, recommend!) which took me through Deadwood and then to Mt Roosevelt Road, arrived around 6 PM. There was already one van overnighting and several cars with hikers using the trail. After the traffic died down, Spock and I jumped on the Mt Roosevelt Friendship Tower trail loop, 1.3 miles. It was an amazing 66°. I’ve been traveling in Northern US and it’s been 90 to 100° for the past six weeks.

Overnighted here with no problems, three other vehicles overnighted here also. At 7:30 AM the first of the hikers arrived and it’s been busy since, People are actually parking along the road. I’m leaving for a boondocking site to give others a parking space.

There’s a vault toilet here and picnic table at the parking area, there’s another picnic table near the tower. No garbage containers, remember pack it in and pack it out. Leave it cleaner than you found it so we don’t get banned.

Report Check-In

Definitely use the recommended speeds when going up to the tower.

Small drop in temperature for sure, but view from the Tower at sunset is awesome.

Pulled in around dusk, small parking lot but I was the only car overnight. Pit toilet open. Few picnic tables around. I hung a clothes line up cause I had washed clothes prior to arriving. Good spot
