Great camping at the very end of the Valdez Glacier River dam where it meets the Valdez Bay. Great 360° view, you sleep with the noise of the roaring river.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
they have put a gate up and you can no longer access. Can't even use the road to get to the other spots down by the post office.
Report Check-Inwe spent 2 night there. there is lots of pull out along the Mc kinley street to park your vehicle. very quiet
Report Check-Inincredibly beautiful spot. the view is just unreal if not cloudy. there is a spot at the end of the little hill you see when driving in, but you can also park on the "beach" on top of the rocks. do be careful because on rainy days the water does fill the bay a bit and it can also be extremely foggy. ATT service was excellent. firepit and art work reminding you to pack it in and out!!!
Report Check-InOvernight Camping on the dam no longer allowed.
We parked just in front of the sign, police passed by and didn’t bother us. So we think it is ok to park a side the road.
Others stayed overnight directly at the beach for the whole weekend and this was allowed too.
Report Check-InParked here along the road next to the parking lot area in the snow. Beautiful and quiet
Report Check-InAs others have said. When we were here the river was very high and thus we parked on the breakwater. Nobody else around. But a great spot nevertheless.
Great mobile signal also!
Report Check-InPlease take the Copper av. To this place. Otherwise you cross a creak full os salmon trying to swim up the creek. (See photo) On dam you have to park after each other. Next to the dam is lots of space on the gravel. We hope the water does not rise too much since it has been raining for 6 days.
Report Check-Inas described wonderful spot with spectacular views, also very popular at least 6 other campers on the point, so don't expect to be alone, but all good still very enjoyable, no room to turn around on breakwater so have to reverse as far as want to go, full ATT service
Report Check-InBest place ever, quite, lots of space around, every type possible, police check places but no comment, keep place clean, beautiful scenery
Report Check-Inthat what every boondocker looking for, no mosquitos, exellent views, alone, quite (exept the river noise), firepits, no waste, but stony road, also for big rigs, if you went a few meters backwards on the dam (we made it well with 28 feet)
Report Check-InGreat location. 50 yard out on a rock jetty.
Wind from the sound means no bugs. Just the sound of the River coming in.
We park at the end of the jetty (not a dam). The view and river sound are great. Perfectly level. The road in is a little rough but manageable with any vehicle.
Report Check-InExcellent overnight place. Nobody bothered us and the views are amazing.
Report Check-InSingle lane on the Dame but you can also park the way down to the right. It was very quiet these night and nobody was bothering me :) there are also no signs about parking restrictions.
