Description

A place to stay when exploring the Maasai Mara. The camp is run by Anne (Dutch) and Dennis (Maasai) in close cooperation with the Maasai community. The camp is only 1 km away from Sekumani gate and a much cheaper alternative to the camps inside the park (20 USD ppn). Ablutions are new with hot donkey shower which was not warm at the time we are told. WiFi is available at the reception area where locals hang out.

We only had dinnner which was very good. The campsite is fenced, with zebras, buffalos, hyenas and elephants passing by at night but we did not hear or see them. They also offer activities like an elephant walk during which you walk to the top of one of the surrounding hills to see elephants and other animals in the valley below.

Lovely campsite with all the amenities except electricity to charge our truck’s batteries. We didn’t take the full board option preferring our own cooking. Stayed two nights. Can recommend. Anne reduced the fee to $15pppn. We didn’t do any excursions but instead went for a bike ride.

Report Check-In

Was okay but not we were not so enthousiastic as the other reviews. No contact with staff, dead flies in the toilet which go not away after flushing and expensive firewood (2000 kes, compared to previous camp site we paid 300 kes).

Expensive (20usd pppn) for what you get. Only advantage is the location close to the gate of Maasai Mara.

We had a great stay, and enjoyed a lovely African meal, so tasty. We were allowed to enjoy the Guesthouse lounge as it was raining.
Price for camping 2500KES for low season and food was 2000 pp. Best clean and hot shower in a long time. Highly recommended.

Very nice place. We stayed there before going to Masai Mara. Only some minutes from the gate. We originally wanted to enter through talje gate but you have to pay the complete entrance fee to pass to that gate. There is no round off the national park. The campsite was lovely. Big showers and nice parking for rooftop tents. You can pay by card. The place is run by masais and The y also offer various hikes and Masai activities. Loved the place. I would recommend staying for two nights

What a gem of a place. Has a restaurant and a nice area to park your vehicle. Best hot showers we have had in a while. Great hosts. Definitely a choice spot if you want to camp just outside the gate.

Stopped here for an overnight after leaving Masaai Mara as it is very close to the gate. Price is now 2000ksh pppn which is obviously cheaper than inside the park and it is a good location to use to visit the park but because of this there are alot of people, both staff and guests using only 2 showers and 2 toilets in each side male and female. The site is not very flat either so not ideal for overlanders. Still needs a few touches to make it great. But it has a lovely bar and restaurant area and super friendly team.

As stated. Highly recommended as a base from which to explore the Masai Mara Park. Amazing and friendly staff. we paid USD 35 pppd for camping with our own gear and full board. USD 20 pppd for under 12 years old. Good ablutions. They were maintaining and upgrading the garden and campsites while were there and it is clear that they are investing in the place. Recommended.

Very welcoming and relaxing place. Site is now signposted all the way from the road.

Great place, lovely hosts, quiet at night, warm showers

We recommend this camp, friendly staff,we paid 1000 pp. Ablution block with hot shower very nice. Pet friendly, great sunset.

Not sure how to rate this camp. Road is difficult to find but we were escorted by a friendly Masai giving us directions. It is not really a campsite so you need to find a flat spot between the trees, the cows, goats and the safari tents.
Beautiful view at the sunset point. Clean toilets ( both long drop and flushing ). When there is water ( in our case only at the end of the day) the showers is really hot. Staff is friendly but likes to overcharge. Negotiations started at 4000 KES for 2 persons and ended at 2000 KES .

This is really beautiful and the view is superb. It was just very difficult to find. The correct coordinates:
-1,5086369, 35,3599014
And at the road there is no sign for Oseki Camp, turn in where it says Sunset Camp. Within 40m from the main road there is quite a mud pool to drive through, no problem, just continue. Just keep going, you will end up at Oseke on the right hand side.

The whole experience here was disappointing - although the view was great, the staff tried to over-charge me until I insisted that the rate mentioned in the reviews was different. There was no wifi until the end of the day because they had run out of fuel for the generator. When I paid the next morning, I needed change. The change that was given to me included KES100 notes that were not in use anymore. No well-meaning customer wants to experience this kind of treatment!

Very hard to find, just one small sign at the main street and Google maps and Maps Me showed us the wrong route. Owner told us that they are about to put up new signs. Hot donkey showers at the campsite. Amazing view over the valley including sunset at the restaurant area. They light up a bonfire at night and the Maasai people joined us for a talk. They offer several activities, but we didn't try. Dinner was a very basic 3 course meal. Cold beer 3$.

We were provided with tea and coffee as soon as we arrived. The camp is only 1 km away from Sekumani gate and a much cheaper alternative to the camps inside the park (15 USD ppn). We really enjoyed the tour as you are accompanied by Maasai and have the chance to learn a lot about their culture. We recommend the camp!
