A dirt pull off on top of a hill with a fantastic view. There’s a campfire and the ground is flat. Enough room for 10 vehicles total on the road. Full bars for Verizon and AT&T. The road was a little rough, might be a little tough for an RV but Ford Ranger made it no problem.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The spot is as described. The view is beautiful and far enough from the main road that you can hardly hear the traffic
Report Check-InPerfect spot, amazing view. Many other vans. Went there with a Westfalia.
Report Check-InGreat spot to park that is very close to Theodore Roosevelt NP. I did not arrive until around 11 PM on a Thursday night but I was able to find a spot off of the dirt road that shoots up the hill. It seems like there are plenty of spots but maybe less for big rigs. I’m not sure how the cellular connection is but my Starlink worked great pointing north from the hill top. Overall, it was pretty quiet for the night and the sunrise was beautiful in the morning. Would recommend if you’re in the area.
Report Check-InWe continued all the way to the top of the road. Near the top the road is gated with a bard wire cattle gate. Move it out of the way and you can continue another 0.5mile. Road ends at the cell phone tower where there is a turnaround for large vehicles or trailers (assuming someone isn’t camped in the turnaround). Popular spot, arrive early. Good cell reception. National Forest Service staff did drive though. Several signs notifying visitors to not drive off established roads and several signs closing roads that previous visitors have blazed. Please use the space as the FS asks or they may close it entirely.
Report Check-InGreat views! The levelers spot is pretty close to the road, which works for our van. We are the only ones up here so there shouldn’t be too much traffic! No wind today; this site would be challenging in the wind. There are several spots coming up the road that may have more room and more protection from wind. Full cell service with Verizon.
Report Check-InThe two spots at the top have an AMAZING view. Other spots along the way are quiet and spread out as other reviewers have stated. Mine has a fire ring, but I don’t think all sites do. The nighttime sky is incredible.
Report Check-InGreat spot with 360 views of the plains. Very windy the night I was there, so if you’re tent camping be prepared for that. Steep slope to get into the site but my SUV handled it without issue.
Report Check-InGreat views and not much traffic on the weekdays. CAUTION our dogs were playing near the weeds and almost got bit by a rattle snake. Very scary
Report Check-InI stayed at the pin, which is the second to last spot up the hill. There’s one more all the way at the top but it’s steeper to get there and this one was just as beautiful. Plus it was open! I passed about 4 occupied spots on the way open and felt so lucky that this one was free. Full bars t-mobile 5g. Bugs are moderate. Views are incredible. Picked up a few pieces of trash so just remember to always double check that none of your trash has blown away.
Report Check-InNice spot, windy but definitely a plus with the warm temps! Had a dog and plenty of space between us and the next person. Stayed at the spot at the base of the last hill in our e-350 van (before the gate) and had it all to ourselves! Definitely recommend!
Report Check-InThis spot was taken. Went to the dnd by the gate. Beautiful, but windy. It's hot outside so the wind is a plus.
Report Check-InGreat place to camp, a little difficult to pull around. Had to help several people find a way to turn around while we stayed for two nights.
Report Check-InLoved out hilltop view. lots of campers but spaces out and quiet.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. Very windy in the afternoon and evening. Lots of spots before the top. Pretty full, but spread out. Good cell service
Report Check-InNice smooth road. Someone was at this campsite so we parked nearby. There is no parking or driving allowed off road- please respect wildlife & nature- we saw people damaging the grassland by driving on it.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Seems like they may have fixed any ruts. The road is now gravel and very easy to drive. Parked a little lower down because someone was in this spot but still a great place for a couple nights!
Report Check-InGreat spot with great views. The road was pretty rutted out at spots, but my stock Astro van made it up no problem in the dark. Some highway noise in the far, far distance, but overall a great place to spend the night.
Report Check-InNo snow or rains lately, but snow is coming. Very doable in our truck. Not really suitable road for most RVs. Deep ruts in some places. But quiet, gorgeous morning views, windy af, cow/deer paths to wander around. Lively critter nightlife.
Report Check-InAwesome spot. Easy to get to. Some ruts in the dirt road. I took my Subaru all the way to the end of the road where you’ll meet a fence that blocks the rod and a plateau to the right. I would recommend parking at one of the many many spots on the way up as the top is VERY steep getting onto this particular plateau and I was on 2 wheels diagonally rocking back and forth at one point. Only taking off half a star due to windy exposed conditions morning and evening. Very secluded at the top spot or the one just before it. Only 15 minutes drive to the National Park.
Report Check-InThis site is pretty good, with a cell tower right at the end of the road you took up to provide service. The views are fantastic, but at about 3AM a thumping noise started and happened about every 20-30 seconds there after. It’s fairly easy to ignore. But may be distracting for some .
Report Check-InA great location. Yes, there are quite a few other Boondocker's but there is so much space and so many options you can space well apart. The top of the hill is spectacular but getting up there has some great spots too.
Report Check-InLots of options than just the one described. Also, not so much a secret by any means, very busy, but if you’re creative, you’ll find a spot
Report Check-InBest views, sunsets, we have found while boon docking, plan to stay a week right here
Report Check-InA dirt pull off on top of a hill with a fantastic view. There’s a campfire and the ground is flat. Enough room for one vehicle, maybe two. Full bars for Verizon and AT&T. The road was a little rough, might be a little tough for an RV but Ford Ranger made it no problem.
