Campground in Kootenay National Park. 88 sites in 9 loops. 3 of the loops are First-Come-First-Serve, all others are reservable (though even the reservable don’t fill up). Pretty easy to find a spot, even in Mid July on the weekend. A bit noisy since it is near the highway. Quiet at night.
Bear country - so be careful!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Quiet. Got here about 9:30 pm. First site in A loop was available. We’re just passing through.
Report Check-InCampground with three first come first serve areas. Cocking shelters and potable water nearby. Close to the highway, but it is okay in the evening and in the night. Very tent friendly.

Report Check-Innice campground, fairly quiet, bunch of free spots on Friday evening
Report Check-InGreat easy campground for one night (though could def stay more! Loop A (first come first serve) was completely empty when we arrived around 7pm. Tons of spots in the other 2 FCFS loops as well as some who had made reservations. $23 CAD/ night plus fire permit $9,50
Report Check-InLovely site, we reserved but plenty of free plots when we arrived. Mosquito central when we arrived though - unfortunately ended up bailing on our second night because they were unbearable. Good location for access to Kootenay and Banff/Lake Louise area. As a bonus - AMAZING view of the stars at night!
Report Check-InNice sites with fire rings and tables. *Back-in only. No pull throughs* Arrived at about 7:30 on a Friday in July and managed to snag a spot. Pretty busy, but a great option in a pinch.
They have firewood available and a dump station. No hookups. Some nice hikes nearby, and not to far to explore Banff a bit.
$23 CAN/site, ~$10 additional to have a fire.
Report Check-InClosed on oct 7 not sure if it’s seasonal or what no info on sign. Stayed at dog lake up the road instead
Report Check-InNice place. No showers, but flush toilets. We found an area with only one other camper (the campground hosts). Quiet, not very buggy and not a ton of smoke in this uncrowded spot. We were in a site closest to the highway and could barely make out the sound. A nice hike if you go down to the river and across the bridge.
