Very nice place with very nice people! we spent three nights with our family, enjoyed the pool and the hospitality of Heraldo and his family. We had a nice barbeque with Heraldo's and the other families on the campground and a little concert from our new ecuadorian motorcyclist friends who camped there, too.

Parada obrigada cerca de Lima. Cuenta con wifi, baños limpios, ducha caliente y piscina. El barrio es muy tranquilo. Nos recibió la familia de viajeros argentinos @teaguantohastaalaska que en ausencia del dueño Heraldo cuidan y atienden el refugio con la mejor onda (esperando solucionar los problemas con su motorhome y continuar su viaje). Estuvimos varios dias colaborando en algunas tareas necesarias en el refugio.

Refugio Lima Is a great base to explore Lima. The current host Flavia is absolutely great! She helped us find a mechanic, organised the driver to Lima for us and we even got Popcorn as a welcome gift. We can definitely recommend coming here.

We had a good time at the refugio. Stayed 4 days. Flavia organized a trip to Lima with the driver/guide Jonathan, which was perfect. Place highly recomended.

We stayed there for a couple of days and left our car at the Refugio for three weeks. Flavia and her family, who are running the place right now, made our stay there special. We loved the great company and Flavias Popcorn. In the evenings we cooked together and spent such a great time with Flavia, Maxi and the children. Their energy makes this place special and we already miss them very much. Thank you Flavia, Maxi, Valentin, Santi and Agatha for this amazing time. We even celebrated Manuels birthday with them and it couldn‘t have been better. If you want to park your car safely near Lima (1.5 hours to Miraflores/Barranco), go there and ask Flavia about the great Taxidriver Jonathan, who will bring you anywhere for a good price. He was a tourguide, so knows a lot about Lima and Peru.

You can also leave the camper for long periods and it is very safe and they take care of everything. highly recommended

After a 2.5 months storage here, Heraldo welcomed us again with a Pizza party. How nice it was to come back to this family run place.
Far away from city center (1h 30 min), but the village offers a few supermarkets and restaurants and an ATM
Heraldo will help you with whatever you ask for.
A nice place not to miss for a rest and the nice atmosphere.

Un muy buen lugar para descansar, alejado de Lima pero con buses y colectivos a 1 cuadra económicos y frecuentes. Cieneguilla es un hermoso barrio para conocer.
El espacio tiene todo lo necesario (agua caliente, baños, lugar para descarga de aguas grises y negras, pileta, parrilla, etc.
Heraldo, Sara y Hernán están siempre disponibles para consultas o inquietudes. Existe la opción de hacer voluntariado o pagar un costo accesible por los días que uno esté ahí.
Recomendamos este lugar para quienes pasen por Lima!!!

They are very accessibles with the price.
The camping has a good location in Cieneguillas, ideal place for enjoy the nature, there is a river near from camping, very  nice for swimming.
Weekends there are local food in the little town.
Very high recommend.

Quiet and safe place to stay, with hot shower, bathrooms and good Wifi.
We left our Campervan here for 2 nights to go to Lima with public transportation and stayed 2 nights in the city. If you want to leave your car here and go to the city, talk to them in advance, so there is no confusion. There are some regulations about when to use big amounts of water because it's a place in a dry area. And there are some dogs and cats at the refugio. One night for 2 people in the camper costs 40 Soles or 10 Dollars.

This is the place to be when around Lima. You can conveniently leave the truck there to explore the city or even go back to your home country. Great people, great spot! Heraldo and Sara are amazing hosts who will help you with anything you need. Showers, bathrooms, wifi, pool, and bbq area. Beautiful place, close to the river and nearby restaurants. They helped us extend our SOAT on a Sunday and are always available to consult for help while traveling. Great advise and connections. we stayed ten days at the refuge with our 24 feet. Great welcome and great atmosphere both with Heraldo and his family and with other travellers. Heraldo helped us a lot to complete the TIP suspension file for one year and we left our motorhome in storage for a few months. ideal for quietly visiting Lima. many basic shops not far from the refuge. 30 soles per day with electricity and US$80 per month for storage. It really is a great refuge just outside of Lima! We got in just after dark and without internet. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the attention of the overlanders there, so we just street camped. The second day we found wifi and contacted Heraldo. He was not at the refuge, but he happily coordinated with the overlanders there, gave us their phone numbers, and ensured we had the refuge’s internet connection so we could contact people on-site when we arrived. Once inside, we stayed two nights! Very relaxing time with everyone there. Played pool, had a movie night, and took a swim in the pool. Even the local black kitten made an appearance and took to our van. No issues with him - he was really cute. Highly recommend! Reach out before arriving!

Outstanding place with kind hosts. We were going to stay one night and ended up there four. Large area for campers, clean bathrooms, pool, fire pit, and potable water. We and our cats were truly happy.

We highly recommend that camping
the owners are incredibly nice (very good human being) always willing to help you.
they accepted us in the middle of this Covid situation.
- the setting is nice (lots of funny birds singing)
- good workshop for repairing stuffs (soldering, cutting.... he has everything and show you how to use it if needed)
- the owner used to be a chef, and actually produces bread croissants pastries and pizza pan for restaurants in Lima. so you can see with him to buy some. we are french and we totally approve the quality.
- perfect for families with kids (lots of space)

We highly recommend this place! Discovered due to Covid, we had to find a safe place to leave our truck to go back to France...lovely family which makes you feel at home, Heraldo took care of our motorhome for nearly 1,5 year!! And help us for all papers required to it ship back, even to drive it to the pear. The campsite is really pleasant, nice to relax out of the crazy Lima ;-)

Heraldo and his family are truly incredible! We spent more than 3 weeks here during the infamous Covid19 quarantines. Peru locked down their roads, borders, etc and had some of the strictest responses to covid19. Heraldo went out of his way to help us and the other overlanders by going to the supermarkets, atms, and wherever else we needed. He truly cares and is a genuinely nice guy.

He bakes delicious bread and is a great chef! Their is a pool as well as a common space to chill. The prices are excellent!

Our van is currently parked at his lot as we wait until the quarantines are over. Heraldo even helps with the paperwork to suspend the import permits.

We were looking for a place to rest and fix some problems in the camper. Here we were warmly welcomed by Heraldo and his family! There is all that overlanders need, wifi, warm shower, water and electricity. But also you will encounter what makes the site special: other travellers collaborating and exchanging in a very friendly atmosphere! They are currently improving the garden, planting fruit trees... Our children were also happy to play with the boys and do Halloween party together! Best to contact Heraldo before arriving (whatsapp below). If no work exchange, cost is 20s/night/vehicule, +10s for electricity.

Very nice place. 20 soles per rig. Big grassy and flat area. Good wifi reaches the rigs. It was ok to drink the water from the tab. Hot shower. Relaxing. Quiet night only some dog barking. 3 other overlanders here. Heraldo is helpful and friendly. Easy access for big rigs. No heigth restriction.

¡AMAZING PLACE AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!
llegue a este refugio solo por 1 noche, pero al final estuve 20 días, rodeado por muchos viajeros y una vibra muy linda en el lugar. Los dueños son personas muy amables. Acá puedes contribuir con el lugar haciendo lo que sepas hacer. Un lugar ideal para descansar un poco del viaje y distraerse haciendo cosas, además tienes todas las comodidades, agua, ducha, electricidad, baños, WiFi, etc. Sin duda alguna cuando vuelva a pasar por Lima, iré a este sitio. Mucho cariño y las mejores vibras para Sara, Heraldo y familia.

Really great place with amazing friendly people and great food! You stay with Heraldo and Sara and their family. Heraldo makes amazing bread, pizzas and bbq! You can either stay here for 20 soles per car or help on the camping with building stuff/cleaning etc. and stay for free, if there is enough to do. We ended up staying for two weeks! If you're going to do something in Lima or you have to fix something at your car, caravan,motorhome, whatever.. This is a wonderful place to be at. We came here to stay 2 days and we spend 8.. A beautiful spot surrounded by families and travellers where we felt part of something bigger.. Really recommended to make a pit stop, to share with interesting and cute people, have fun and make exchanges with different cultures. Heraldo and his family are super kind, they can help you in many ways. Respectful and quiet atmosphere.
