Boondocker’s paradise up here off maintained dirt road in Ashley National Forest at nearly 8400ft elevation. Tons of primitive campsites with and without fire rings. Road good enough to get RV and/or 5th wheel up, lots of boondockers. Sites hidden in Aspen forest, some with great views of rolling green meadows & summer wildflowers. Recommend but can get a little crowded during peak camping season in summer. There is a pit toilet at the entrance. About 1hr from Dinosaur National Monument.

Discovered these dispersed campsites in 2021 during an extreme heat wave. What a welcome respite from the heat! Unfortunately, I could only stay a day but I enjoyed it so much I wanted to return. Returned this year after stopping at Dinosaur National Monument. Spent five days here, 9/16/23-9/22/23, hiking and exploring, saw the first aspens turn yellow. Temps ranged mid 50-70 days, mid 30-40 nights. 16-day stay limit, not the usual 14. Mostly hunters this time of year. Campsites were level, clean and had fire rings, although it was too windy to have fires the entire time. There was a kiosk at the turnoff of 191 with maps and two clean vault toilets.
Report Check-InThank you all this is truly a Gem. 36 foot class A with a tow and no problems. The stars are truly amazing.
Report Check-InBeautiful place to camp. Lots of little trees and flowers. Easy to access! I do wish the sites were a little more secluded. However, we will likely be returning.
Report Check-InFS road to the overlook. Lots of pulloffs on the road. If you come out to the bald you can see for miles
Report Check-InJust yes! This place is wonderful. 4 bars AT&T and 3 of TMobile in the location noted from these GPS coordinates.
Report Check-InEasy peasy no matter the rig or the weather. I was concerned coming after rain in a prius but the road is hard packed. You will probably have neighbors, but not close—there’s plenty of space here. Fire pits scattered around also.
Report Check-InThis is such a great location! We drove our truck camper right to a sweet spot nestled between some aspen trees and easily leveled our rig. Definitely big rig friendly with lots of space! Highly recommend!
Report Check-InBeautiful wide spread area for wild camping! Some spots have shade, others a great view! There's a pit toilet right off the main road, otherwise no service.
Report Check-InReally nice spot with lots of spots to choose from with primitive fire rings. Pot toilets at entrance of road. Be forewarned at the very end of road there are some super loud cows that moo aggressively all day and night lol. Other than that very beautiful and private.
Report Check-Infantastic place room for big and small. I'm not sure there is a capacity that's how many spots there are. great views near level ground and a quiet environment
Report Check-InMultiple areas in beautiful wooded areas. very quiet and easy to access. ATV trails around as well.
