Nice place to stay and nice people. We paid 60 BOL p.p.p.n. for a private room and 30 BOL p.p. per diner. Be aware that you have to bring drinking water or buy over there for 10 BOL per 2l.

To arrive there, you can contact a local taxi driver from Tuni, Roger. We paid 90 BOL to get from Patamanca to Tuni, and to get back 150 BOL from Tuni to Teleferico Rio Seco (El Alto). He also used to be trekking guide, and can give you info about local hikes:

We stayed in our camper in front of the Hostel for free. We asked whether we could have dinner in the evening - after hiking on our own, which was no problem. We got a seat at the large common table together with the other guests. The atmosphere as well as food were both really good! 25 Soles per person for soup, main and a simple desert plus water / tea.

Landscape is VERY beautiful here !!!

given the comments we read (on ioverlander and elsewhere) we thought this would be a more authentic experience. however, this place is very touristy and Andres and is family, although they are all very nice, try to make as much money from your stay as they can. they pretended a guide was mandatory for some hikes, although we knew this was not the case. they also sometimes invite you for a knitting course, and ask for 35 Bs per person afterwards. on top of that, the stay is quite expensive (130bs pp with 3 meals) for what you get - 2 hours of electricity a day, a few hours of heating, sometimes wifi (that you need to pay extra). besides that, the surroundings are extremely beautiful and you can make nice hikes. the food they cook is also very good.

Great stay at "la maison de Andres". Between hiking, crafts, dance and typical meals we didn't see the time pass in this so nice and welcoming family.

Report Check-In

Andrés was not there but some guy in the village told us we could just camp in front of the casa. We parked our car there and had good, quiet night before hiking to Pico Austria. Though in the evening the wind is strong and cold!
Quiet village, very few people but welcoming. We went there after being spooked by the recent comments at Rinconada.
