Description

Small imigratation post. No customs on SL side, so do it before you get here at the place marked on the map.
Road leading to the SL side is rough, but doable in a 4x4. Fine on bike with some competence.

Guinea-->S.L.
-Guinea border, 5 minutes, super frendly.
-S.L. friendly and professional. They asked for my yellow fever and passport vaccine. They don't do V.O.A. At this border, They g given the telephone of the superior in Kabala whom I had to contact (Usman Decuri).
and I was allowed to sleep at the border, they even gave me a room in the building.
One day and a half later, a few kilometers before Kabala in a control (very kind by the way) they called the officer decuri, the wine, took my passport and he esclited me with patience (I travel by bike) to where I was going to stay (it was Sunday). On Monday morning I return to inform me of the cost of the visa (80USD) and that they did not have a receipt to give me. 2 hours later he returned to deliver my sealed passport and change. (450 nl. So 22.5 NL-> 1 USD. I thought it was fair).
☆It is true that there are a few kilometers where the road is not in good condition. On both sides they are working to pave it. but with patience it is perfectly passable.If not, look at the photo of these father and daughter and their "3wd" that I attach

From SL - Guinea:
If you have all Papers it is a easy and fast border. Both side about 40 Min.
Read the comments about the road in SL (near Falaba), the road in SL is about 50km only 4x4 extrem bad road (about 4-5h).
In Guinea it is better (N14), but still a piste.

we dont have evisa, thinking they will do at the moment on the border as Pamelap, but not.They took our passport information, and gave us the phone contact of Osmand, who is in Kabala (40km crossing this jungle about 3 hours, only 4x4 or motorbikes). Next day we met woth Osmand in his house because he says is Saturday so the office is closed, them he called to another higher officer because he doesn't know what to do with us due to is weekend. We had been waiting around 3 hour in his house (even not offering water to drink) , to finally he stamp the passport paying the 80$, but without a proof of it, either paper of any visa. Really slooooow motion border.

You must do customs 70km before this place on SL side! There is no SL customs here. They only stamp passports. Extremely friendly.

On Guinea side, there is customs, they stamp your passport and visa paper (bring 2 copies!) and Carnet as well. Also very friendly.

The road is definitely possible by car, on Guinea side they even come with trucks. On SL side, the road isn’t the best, but who comes to Africa for good roads?
For bicycles and skilled motorbike riders it‘s real fun. Cars need patience and sometimes a bit ground clearance, unskilled motorbike riders better stay on tarmac and don’t try this.
Beautiful road, you pass through many friendly traditional villages on SL side. We had such a fun day out there!

SL -> Guinea

Friendly small border.
The Guinea side is now here as well. No Douane though.

SL side:
Wanted to check health details, filled out a form usually used on entry, then didn't actually check YF or COVID certificates.

Exit stamp easy.
Wanted money, but not pushy.

No Douane

Guinea side:
Quick and easy. Didn't even ask to see our visas. The old police officer was very smiley and seemed to be moderately confused as to what to do!
Also asked for money, but no problems.

No Douane or customs, but at the moment Passavants don't seem to be issued to those with a Tourist visa, so we didn't worry.

Very small borderpost in tiny village. Kind guys, they helped us also to change money. At the end the officer asked for money but was okay when we refused. You have to stamp your carnet de passage far before the border, check the other post on iOverlander.

Warning; the road is bad and sometimes very bad! At the moment at Guinee side not possible with car.
