I could not get to this site. There was a gate blocking the road. I saw a notice sign posted but I could not stop to read it. The entrance is not a pull off so if I pulled in I’d have to back up my 19ft van into traffic. Maybe it’s closed for the season?
Report Check-InDrove up Andy Creek Rd and by all of these sites today. The roads and these spots are all marked as private timber property and they are indeed outside of the state/NF forest boundaries. We did not stay.
Report Check-InNew sign about half a mile bevor that spot says privat and no camping. There is one small nearly leveled spot a few curves bevor the sign that i placed here.
Report Check-InAmazing view of the misty coastal mountains and the south edge of Cape Lookout itself. Made it up the gravel road an AWD Astro van. We took Andy Creek Road (nav from Google Maps) to get up here as Newberg Road is closed for logging. This site is in Suislaw National Forest territory. A few sites with campfire rings. Some stranger’s poo mess. Had the area to ourselves on a Friday! 🤙
Report Check-Ingreat view, road is a little steep for a trailer but we made it.
Report Check-InFinally, a place where a clear-cut doesn't just give you a view of more clear-cuts!
Location is as described It's nice to see these sites cared for/very little trash around. I rolled in on a Thursday afternoon and at least two other vehicles came in that evening. I would avoid this location on weekends, I bet it gets busy.
Be aware that if you come in via Sandlake rd Google maps will try to take you up Newburg Rd, which is gated at the bottom. Andy Creek Rd is nearby and not gated, and once you're on it Google will reliably lead you here. It is a narrow, winding, and at times steep road but fine for anything not super large.
Report Check-InAs described with one complaint. A VERY big warning to larger rigs and especially fifth wheels. We are in a 27’ class C and the road here was small and, occasionally, steep. Unless you’re adventurous, skip this if you’re a larger rig.
Unbelievably beautiful though.
No vacancy. I showed up on a Thursday evening in advance of labor day weekend, hoping to beat the crowds. All 5 campsites at the top of the hill with views were taken so I had to drive around in there dark searching for alternate locations. Found one which I'll mark on the map as a new spot.
Report Check-InFive spots up this road. We opted for the third, as only it and the fourth spot were unoccupied. Road a bit steep for 14,0000 pounds of Class C, but we managed. Very nice view!
Report Check-In3 main camp spots with fire pits. Very clean and quiet. Amazing views . Please take care of this spot!
Report Check-InSeems easy enough to get to, but signage 2.3 miles prior to site states “road closed”. Logging operations and equipment are all around. They’re on CB channel 31, no response on a Saturday morning. You’re probably fine to camp here on a weekend, but I wouldn’t get in the way on weekdays. I’m not gonna bother. Plenty of forest to explore. The road is paved, if you’re into that kinda thing.
Report Check-InQuit and clean place with beautiful views! Almost nobody uses the road next to it. Road to the place is good, no 4x4 necessary. Not recommended with rooftop tent when windy. 2 bars on tmobile.
