Mexico
GORGEOUS!!! As you’re headed to Mineral del Chico, once you pass the visitor center and the Las Ventanas campground, look for this place on the left -entrance pictures in the saved images. We made it fine with a 2 Wheel drive van just take it slow, higher clearance might be nice.
Totally worth it -the best camping we’ve had in Mexico. Just follow the road until you reach a beautiful clearing with lots of fire rings and picnic tables to choose from. Really nice trails for hiking or biking leaving directly from the campground.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The name of the campground is Llano El Churro. Follow the signs to the Waterfall (Cascada).
Prices are: MX $25 entry fee per person. $100 for camping (per vehicle). $50 for firewood.
Fees are collected by a person in the first cabin to the left as you enter.
The toilets are a bit dirty and smelly. On the right-hand side right near the first hut and opposite the toilets is also a hose with spring water (has sediments). Low pressure. Filtration is highly recommended.
Super quiet at night and cold. We had about 6°C. Very quiet, with no noise.
Worth mentioning that this place is not guarded or closed during the night. The "guard" leaves at around 7-8 (just before sunset) and comes back the next day at about 9 AM.
No issue. Felt very safe.
Report Check-InBeautiful nature, basic sanitary. Not a lot of flat space, but good enough for a small van.
Report Check-InThis is an very beautiful place, trails all over for running, hiking and even biking.
Bucket toilet but grassy field to park in (not so level).
We really enjoyed finding this place and makes us wonder how all the areas near by are. Recommend
awesome place. we stayed there 4 days and loved it. (200peso for small van and two person)
Report Check-InNice grassy are surrounded by trees. Not totally flat but fine. They charged me 100 pesos for a van but 200 for my friends in a big truck.
Report Check-InThis place was AMAZING.
$100 camping per vehicle plus $25/pp for a day use fee. There are lots of campgrounds near this National Park, but this one is super tucked away and not on the side of the road.
There’s a sign that says ‘Llano El Churro’ - that’s where you want to turn in and start following a gravel road to the campground. Any car can get down, don’t worry.
Loads of hiking and biking paths directly from the campground. My dog couldn’t have been happier in the vast amount of space.
Firewood for sale, too. The nicest group of people run the campground, and they love to talk and learn about where everyone is from, even if your Spanish isn’t great :)
We miss everyone already! We stayed a week or so… it was hard to leave.
Plus the actual National (or state?) Park itself has awesome single track for anyone who mountain bikes. There are tall trees but our Starlink was just able to get signal to work.
Nice and chilly at night. Perfect temp in the days. One of our favorite spots since crossing into the mainland.
Report Check-InIt really is a beautiful place. I don't understand the complaining about lack of a view when you have so many things to do here. We explored different trails and our dog had the best time playing on the grassy field. Price is now $100 for camping and $25pp for the day.
Report Check-InThe Nacional Park and the campsides are open. We stay two days here and pay 100.- Pesos for two persons in a van. Follow the signs to the cascade and go further on the track on the left. After 20 minutes you will reach a beautiful lake.
Report Check-InGreat place for camping! There are climbing routes, hiking routes and you can go to “las ventanas” that is on the other side of a little mountain (last picture)
Due to COVID restrictions, camping is not allowed but you can visit and stay for the day... CHECK THE RESTRICTIONS BEFORE GOING TO THE AREA!!!
Report Check-InIt's closed due to Pandemic. In fact, we've tried all the campsites, and they're all closed. We're not sure if it's just because maybe there was a recent spike in cases or not.
Also, the road to Mineral de Chico is closed to tourists due to the pandemic as well.
Report Check-InCurrently open during the pandemic.
Many trails to explore.
50mxp per night if you're in a tent apparently, but asked us for 150 because we were sleeping in our van??????
Settled on 100.
Nothing special, camping in a valley with no views around... we did the road down with camper, bumpy road when raining, if ever rains here, don’t risk at all. If you want privacy that’s your place probably, we go back to El Cedral and their lake.
Report Check-InNOTE: we are 3.4meters tall and 20feet long and made it fine. It’s about 1/4 mile from the entrance down a rocky road to the campground
Report Check-InGORGEOUS!!! As you’re headed to mineral del Chico, once you pass the visitor center and the las Ventanas campground look for this place on the left -entrance pictures in the saved images. We made it fine with a 2 Wheel Dr. van just take it slow, higher clearance might be nice.
Totally worth it -✨the best camping we’ve had in Mexico 🇲🇽 ✨Nobody came around to collect the fee. Just follow the road until you reach beautiful clearing with lots of fire rings and picnic tables to choose from. Really nice trails for hiking or biking leaving directly from the campground.
