Description

We crossed from Turkey to Bulgaria.
Quick and easy border.
On the Bulgarian side, you must pay 3€/6BGN, only in cash (no CB) for the "disinfection" of the vehicle to enter in Europa.
Just after the border, there are offices to change money and buy the "car vignette" to use Bulgarian roads.

Slow border - we tried early mornig and early afternoon from Bulgaria to Turkey (gave up the first attempt). Expect 2 to 3 hours if you find the first cars waiting 100m before Bulgaria exit checks. You can buy hgs stickers at the border.

No Problem to cross Border with Truck Camper Turkey to Bulgaria

Report Check-In

At the beginning of September, we reached the TR - BG border in the evening at 7:30 pm. Already 600 metres before the border, many cars with Bulgarian licence plates were jammed. We tried again the next morning and were able to leave without much waiting time. It seems that the Bulgarians drive to TR in the morning and back to BG in the evening.
At both border stations, the officials looked into the vehicle. We had to show the animal passport for our dog.
The fee for disinfecting the vehicle still costs 3€/6BGN, alternatively Turkish Lira would have worked.

My worst border crossing experience. We stayed more than 8 hours in the queue, than they reported that their system is not working and they have no idea when it will work. They charged us for disinfection on both sides and they didn't care that we didn't cross the border actually. There is bathroom on both sides, duty free, exchange office, and possibility to buy HGS tag for Turkey. In the end we crossed at Lesovo border which is 10x faster, english speaking, and up to date.

NO TRUCKS ALLOWED AT THIS BORDER POST!
We passed today BG-TR. Desinfection fee was 8BGN, price rose a bit.
Note that if the vehicle is not registered on your name, the power of attorney must be translated into English or Turkish.
Very relaxed if you have all papers in order.

Crossing border on midday...from Bulgaria to Turkey...snowy atmosphere, only us to cross.
Very smooth process from both side.
PCR requested on Turkish side. All was done as it should be (recommend Bodimed in Burgas...quick and friendly...50 euros for 2 pax)
Car désinfection at 5 USD ...cash only.
Custom check only on Turkish side, just over view on the backside of our TLC. No questions for our 2 dogs (but all document we’re done as per the book in Burgas...a bit time taking process and better to do it in case).
Just get questions if I had cocaine, heroine or exctasy...:-)))).
All process...30 min Max.

Crossed from Bulgaria into Turkey.
Took us only seconds. On BG side they checked passport and car documents and had a quick look into the car.
On the turkish side they wanted to see car documents, green card and passports. Had a short look into the back of the car and welcomed us.
All in all maybe 20mins.

As holidays were almost over, it took us 8 hours to cross from Turkey to Bulgaria. Border is open 24hr, unfortunately we arrived at 2pm. Green card insurance was available on Turkey side for €80 per month with limited countries (for instance no Croatia, no Macedonia). On Bulgarian side they did not want to sell us insurance, price was €70 for 1 month, €105 for 2 months and somehow €82 for 3 months. There were 2 booths, only 1 was open. As we needed a green card, we asked Police for help. Police said ‘just go, EU no problem’. Annoying since we tried at several places to buy the green card insurance in Turkey and heard they don’t sell EU green card coverage to foreigners anymore. Luckily nobody at the border bothered about insurance or vignet and we could enter Bulgaria. An e-vignet can easily be bought online as well.
