Sweet spot. No one around but the cows. I think you do need a pass but I couldn’t figure out how to get one and no one bothered me. A bit buggy at night.

Abandoned in 2011 according to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife website. The website also says each adult visitor over 16 needs to purchase a Colorado State Wildlife Area Pass or hunting license to be here or large fines may result. 

This is a fairly large abandoned state campground in a very rural and secluded area with dozens of ovwrgrown camping spots, parking lots, boarded up visitor building, misc other buildings and two boat ramps (lake is dry). Electric and water is off at camp spots.  After spending the afternoon exploring which was very intriguing we left for another spot as my wife just felt it was kinda creepy and we had no SWA pass.

We pulled into this spot around midnight, and it was well maintained state land, but is a 25 minute drive away from the nearest gas station. To be honest, we were slighted too sketched out to stay the night. Just a little too remote for us in pitch black dark...

This is not actually in the Bonny State rec area but just outside the republican State rec area but it's obviously serviced. Huge area to park in and large enough to turn around. Concrete maintained out house will TP. We got 2 bars of LTE. Super quiet. There's a fire or here too. There a a few not to severe ruts in the road to get here but beyond here there are two deeper sets.
