Just outside of the Obsidian campground, there is a giant pine tree where you can park. Deadly quiet. Only thing you can hear is the wind. The place is within the Toiyabe NF. About 10 min drive from the main road (US 395).

as described. we had some issues getting to the lower ioverlander spot in this valley because we have low clearance. this spot is easy to reach though. we had some cows passing by us.
Report Check-InLarge turnout on a dirt road off the road to Obsidian Campground. Plenty of space for 3-4 vans, sprinters or small off-grid trailers. Further down the road are two more campsites that would work for single rigs or tent campers. Easy to reach with 4Runner and an off-grid trailer.
Report Check-InWe stayed just outside / to the right before you turn left into the campground. Fire ring, level ground, peaceful river sounds! Only one vehicle passed the whole time we were there, which was 9pm to 9am. The road in was smooth, compared to many we’ve been on. Verizon LTE.
Report Check-InBeautiful peaceful campground. The complete sounds of nature😊. Stayed next to the rushing creek and slept so good! Did not hike far due to the warning of a Mtn Lion! Vault toilets only. No water. But I would definitely stay here again!
Report Check-InNice campground in a forest setting near a creek. The Aspens are turning and it’s beautiful. $12 per site. A few level sites. Some have picnic table and fire rings
