From Sigsig to Gualaquiza mainly paved. Some small parts aren’t. The unpaved part of 5 km or so at the top around 3300 m is in bad condition and very bumpy, possible to do with any car though.

Everything is good on this road. Short bumpy section at top, but nothing to worry about. Wonderful drive and lots of waterfalls right on the side of the road. Recommend! Also several towns where it would be easy to camp for a night next to a basketball court, in front of a church or football field.
Report Check-Inwe drove the other way round. please notice our warning of the collapsed bridge across rio negro at -3.330546, -78.653575. there is a desvio/alternative road- but we assume it is a small dirt road (from gualaquiza to -3.304337, -78.636896 ). as described in the first post: unpaved bumpy road from -3.192526, -78.778554 for 4.7km to -3.183776, -78.796703. we had a rainy and very foggy day. no view on top.
