Description

Drive about 13 miles off the main road. Plenty of flat camping with many fire pits. Beautiful snow capped mountains in the background. Very quiet and away from interstate. We drove our 35' motorhome pulling a car right to the end of the road, where there is a circle big enough to turn around. The 4-wheeling roads start there and wild camping is available on any flat surface.

What a mind blowing place !! So interesting to climb through these Lava Tubes !! I highly recommend this one !! 🔥🔥

Very nice wide spot at the end of a very good gravel road. Somebody recently put up a pit toilet building similar to a rest stop at the intersection leading into the area. We stayed there twice in a week. I can say for certain that there is room for several hundred campers.

Roads are still pretty good getting up to the hill. Roads around the hill may get more challenging depending on rain conditions. Were a little rutted but 2WD was fine. Really great place to explore. Would not recommend staying overnight at the trailhead - this is a pretty popular place, especially on weekends. We just drove east on the road by the hill and found several sites you can use. Just look for the fire pits. The area on the west side of the hill is something worth seeing, as well.

Wonderful views. Road looks newly graveled. It was easy to get here. No one else around. Lots of fire pits and flat area to camp.

Report Check-In

We went to the end of the road. It’s passable with a 2-wheel drive car when it’s dry at super slow speed. If it’s wet you’ll need 4wd. The road is bad. Lots of holes and ruts.

The cell service is only good for calls. Not good for data if you’re digital nomads.

It’s beautiful here however and I wish I could stay.

Report Check-In

Decent spot, not too far off the highway. A few people came by mid week, but no other campers.

Make sure to check out Meadow Hot Springs as well!
