in for no extra cost with my NP pass. All NP in all states for $80 for the year. Good deal. Volcano is 7877 feet elevation at the top where you can drive to. awesome views.

Entrance fee now $20 but a worthwhile stop. 1 mile loop trail on rim; 1/4 mile trail down into crater. spectacular views.

Winter pictures, the rim trail was very worth it, even though I had to wade through hip deep snow on on the north rim, I went clockwise, I'd recommend going Counterclockwise, especially in winter the sun melts the snow on the south rim, I also think it is not as steep, this is potentially skewed because the deepest snow are on the steepest points.

Great stop along the grasslands of NE New Mexico. The hike around the rim is worth the 40 minute (+-) effort.Great views back east towards the Rabbit Ear Buttes and west to the Sangre de Cristos. The museum is very nice.
