Description

Hotel and restaurant with nice gazebo. $15 to park in their parking lot right on the water. Access to bathrooms, no showers (but a hose). Wifi available. Power available also, but we didn't use it. Pemex in town is gas only. You should be able to get diesel at the port, 1 km away. High season is Jan thru March when grey whales return to the bay. Breeze is nice now that is HOT everywhere else in Baja.

Latest Check-Ins

Camping on the Beach in front of their restaurant. 300 Pesos per night, which includes WiFi, a bathroom with flush toilets and shower with hot water. The shower door is currently not connected to the frame and is laying across the door opening. Electricity is provided in a standard 15 Amp duplex outlet. The staff are very friendly, but speak minimal English. The restaurant is large and serves the typical seafood of this region.

A couple of spots near the hotel, next to the water. 300 pesos for a class B RV. Passable 15A electrical hookup; no water or sewage hookups. The bathrooms are a bit gross. They also organize your whale-watching experience.
We're staying for 2 nights.

Report Check-In

we take the whale watching tour with them (5000 pesos / boat max 6 person for 3hrs +/-) really great experience. I park my school bus in the parking lot for the night for free so maybe just make a deal with the owner😉

Report Check-In

Came for night, stayed for over a week. it's a beautiful, quiet location if you are looking to just chill and relax. The best whale watching I've done yet: it was a large pod and they came up to the boat. Dogs are welcome. There are dogs running around, and all are friendly. There is hot water in the showers, which is nice. The restaurant did not disappoint!

Report Check-In

Restaurant is very good. Tried the fish diablo, fish ajillo, and the mariscos grande. All very fresh and well prepared. Stayed next to the hotel in the dunes.

Report Check-In

a beautiful sunset and nice restaurant. unfortunately our boat and brand new motor were stolen in the middle of the night right in front of our camp. the police seemed to say they knew who likely had our belongings but "they are people you don't mess with". the police also added there are a lot of "bad people" in Puerto San Carlos. so unfortunate for the honest people trying to make a living and the thieves ruin it. stay at your own caution and I recommend keeping everything locked up tight (our boat was secure, but they cut all the locks)

We parked right by the palapa and had a water hook up. Restaurant was decent but they had us in stitches over the inefficiencies. At least we were laughing. We were right on the Bahia de Magdalena and saw one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. We had planned to stay another night but discovered that a large group was coming in for a all night party. So we asked for a refund—which they gave us—and took off.

We paid 300 pesos to camp, took hot showers and parked right next to the beach. We met Fito, the owner, and had an ok dinner and dos margaritas at sunset. We walked into town and had breakfast at Gina‘s the next morning. San Carlos was a very quiet fishing town with lots of beautiful murals.

Van camped one night. Nice spot. Very chill. We parked back by the shore, and enjoyed the site. Easy walk of 1/2mi or so to the downtown and good eats. Dirty walk and street dogs, but no big deal. I paddled a sea kayak north into the mangroves, and it was a nice 8mi out-n-back. Numerous fishing outfits (private and guided) seemed to be staying at the hotel, and it was obviously underway with a good bit of growth/construction. I'd stay there again.

Report Check-In

Hotel and RV park with restaurant and whale tours. Camping is 300 pesos per night for dry camping. Everyone is kinda crammed in wherever they can fit, but all sites face the water. Some shared palapas.

Report Check-In

Small Hotel with restaurant. They allowed us to park within their compound for $15. We parked alongside a courtyard facing the water. Sweet little place. Bathroom and wifi here.

Report Check-In

Super friendly. Good kitchen. They found a place for a 13 ton MAN.

Report Check-In

Javier hooked us up with a camp spot behind the restaurant for $300pesos/night. Good food, friendly staff, beautiful location!

Report Check-In

Looks like a nice hotel. We spend 1 night in our RV, did not use the basic restroom and showers. Dinner in the restaurant was good, Margaritas too. Night was quiet. Payed $300. Whales were already gone so no whale watching tour.

Report Check-In

OK place to park, have dinner and go to sleep in your rig. Loud on the weekend and bright lights everywhere. Restaurant was a bit higher priced than most places, serving tacos and margaritas. Rooms at the “hotel” going for 75-100usd/night. Separate area for cold showers, flush toilet and sink open to campers. 1 nighter was good for us!

Report Check-In

sleep here for 2 nights, electricity available, slow wifi, cold shower, good toilet.
pay 250 MXC$ per night per car
very nice owner

Report Check-In

We arrived around 7pm and the hotel was closed, and the restaurant didn't look like it was doing much so we just drove down a side path down to the water and parked on a tiny hill to avoid high tide (which rose about 10 feet into the shore by 11pm). The sand in some areas is very soft so use caution if you're driving a 2WD vehicle, but our Skoolie made it just fine, only kicking up a little sand. Around 8pm a guy drove his car up and parked by the water about 20 feet from us which was weird because there was an entire beach to park at. Around 11, he came up and knocked on our Skoolie door and I believe was trying to ask for water for his car because it wasn't working? It was super weird and he sketched us out, then he continued to come up and knock on our door asking for other things like a jump start around 1am and more water at 4am. We slept with one eye open the entire night. I'm pretty sure his appearance would not be a regular occurrence so I would definitely recommend this place, super quiet not many cars and we felt very comfortable, besides this one guy. It was absolutely incredibly beautiful and the sunset was stunning! Nobody asked for pay to park there and no one seemed to be bothered by us being there and the hotel office was still closed when we left around 10am in the morning. Since we got no sleep cause of this guy, I'd have to give it 3.5 stars, but the location was hands down 5 stars!!

great place to stop for a few days and rest. restaurant and hotel are nice. we dried camp next to beach. $12.00 to park. there's only a few spots for small RVs or tents next to water. larger RV have to park in parking lot. we have a 21f Roadtrek we can backed in and watched amazing sunsets. they offer whale watching and fishing tours. there are hot showers. there is not much in town. we would go back.

Report Check-In

Nice spot to stop. We were able to park by the restaurant overlooking the water. A flush toilet is available as well as cold showers. Restaurant is available which we took advantage of. The people were amazing and we will be back.

Report Check-In

Alright little spot, not big rig friendly.
paid 250 P a night.
With an extension cord you can hook up to electricity at gazebo, water can be filled from hose - no dump station.
Food in restaurant was good.
Bathroom was not the cleanest, hot water doesn't last long - the water had a hard time draining.

Report Check-In

It´s a nice and safe place to camp or rent a beautiful cabin with A/C, the restaurant has the coldest beer wou can get, and great food. Own and run by familly, they have boats "pangas" to take you whale, or bird watching, fishing. the place is nice and clean.

Report Check-In

Stayed one night; just a few places to stay so it was pretty crowded but o.k for one night; the food in the restaurant was good and the prices o.k;

Report Check-In

Nice location on the beach with power. hot showers but poor drain. food at restaurant is good. going whale watching with them tomorrow. 2050 pesos for 2 on the boat and rv camping 1 night.

Report Check-In

Paid 200 pesos for the night. They were out of spots but owner allowed us to park in grassy area right on the beach.
Ate a nice lunch at on-site restaurant. Had a hot shower (make sure you know C for caliente not cold to get hot water). Hook to hang stuff on in shower which was helpful since shower doesn’t drain well and no separate area to change.
The one toilet for Rvers/campers had no toilet paper, not too clean but bathrooms in restaurant very nice and clean.
The restaurant staff very friendly. During our daughters nap, our son was playing on beach and next thing we knew we couldn’t find him. Found him in restaurant and waiter had given him chips/salsa and he was playing with toothpicks and napkins having a great time.

Report Check-In

First night they charged us 15usd - thought it was fair since location is not completely terrible and girl who welcomed us said it included wifi, water, electricity, toilets and hot showers. However: wifi did not work, bathroom was filthy, showers were cold and electricity was cut in the middle of the night by the hotel staff! Also party going on until late hours of the night on a random night. Complained the next day and agreed to pay 150 pesos for the next day. Would be a good location and 15usd worth if they made some improvements to it but not as it is right now.

Report Check-In

Just as described and wonderful restaurant. Met the owner who also was very friendly.

150 pesos for two of us and truck camper. Wifi, showers and bathroom. Great location (right in the beach) and friendly staff. Restaurant open from 7am till 9pm

Hotel with overnight camping. Flush toilets. Hot & Cold water showers ( no doors! ); no hook-ups Restaurant on-site. Great food and service. Boat on site for whale watching tours (Grey Whales). Camping fees : $7 US a night.

Report Check-In

Really bad experience here. The staff was extremely unfriendly, seemed irritated to have us there. We were going to camp in the parking lot, but after experiencing the restaurant staff we chose to leave. The unfriendliness seemed to be directed only towards the gringos (another gringo couple was receiving the same treatment), which is something we have not experienced anywhere else in Baja. We recommend avoiding this place.

Report Check-In

We were to camp here but decided to stay in one of their rooms. Camping has a small little lot beach side. Unsure of bathrooms for camping. Their rooms are pretty awesome with full bathrooms beds etc. We paid $400 pesos for a night. Worth it for a big shower and shelter from the wind. Fito the owner is SUPER nice and makes great drinks!

Wonderfull place to enjoy the Robinson Crusoe"sensation". The owner Fito, is very kind and helpfull. Starting alone , he built this marvelious ressort, hugh live-work. The restaurant is good to, with livemusic sometimes. Enjoy't.

now there are showers adn toilets, recently built. but it'the only opcion in the town, right on the beach. the weather Isabel incredibly fresh at night.

Had a wonderful time sitting on patio at water all day. Food and service was good. The rooms are nice and newly renovated. The price for rooms is a little high but worth it. The people treated us great and took care of us. Say hello to Fito the owner when you are here.

Set our tent on parking lot for about $10 a night while the sun was setting on Magdalena Bay. Peaceful. There is a security guard for the establishment. Ate at their reasonably-priced restaurant on the open casita overlooking the bay. Food was decent but the flambé bananas with ice cream and chocolate sauce was delicious! They were polite, accommodating, and very welcoming.

Report Check-In

Parking behind the hotel by the beach, the hotel runs whale watching boats from here. Fast wifi.
170 pesos camping, whale watching 900 pesos/hr for a 6 seat panga. Be warned it is an hour out each way to the mouth of the bay where the whales are. Ojo de liebre and San Ignacio were better.
Last night the fishermen down the beach started the music at 3:30 am.

Established hotel and restaurant right on the bay. No designated campsite but negotiated a price (100 pesos) to stay right at the waters edge. Security on site at night and plenty of people around during the day. Good foods at the restaurant.
