Description

This used to be a formal campground but USFS has shut it down for lack of use. the sign says they will leave the pit toilet and city water for dispersed camping on a trial basis. it's a great spot on top of the hill with wonderful views through the trees. It used to be a fire lookout built by the CCC. No T-Mobile service. it's close to the road so you get some noise but it was very quiet from 10-5. we were the only ones here. pit toilets have TP and are clean. Please help keep this place clean so it can stay open!

Great place to stay! There were quite a few other people camping here as well.

nice place. I stopped here to take a break while on a long ride. used the bathroom and the water spigot to cool off. I will be back to camp in the near future.

Report Check-In

Small spot with maybe 10 sites. Pit toilet. There is a water spigot, but I didn't try it to see if it worked. Clean, quiet, safe spot.

I went on a hike at Pedestal Rocks & Kings Bluff Trail then came here to camp for the night. Only 15 mins away. A very nice dispersed campground with a clean pit toilet. Right by rt 16 so you could hear trucks passing by. But I’ve only heard it 3 times the night I spent there. Most of the time it was quiet and peaceful. There’re at least 4 established campsites from what I could see.
Water spigot on site!
Verizon gets you 1-2 bars. Very unstable and slow.
Like the other says, please keep it clean so we all can use it again!!

Thankful we found this place! Had tried a few other spots in the area but they were full or closed due to COVID19. Easy access w van and pop up. Bathroom was clean, BYO TP. Fire rings, picnic table. Some local traffic in the campground. Main road was quiet after 1030. Noseeums were out but no mosquitos! Free too!

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay for the night. Near the road but the noise is not bad at all.

Report Check-In

Still open and has a couple of fire rings still set up. Some road noise but over all a great nights sleep. Bathroom is still open
