Something not right?

Description

After ordering food and asking the restaurant staff, they said we could sleep for free in the parking lot (reception quoted $50p/night). Bathroom available in the restaurant but probably need to eat/drink to use it. Some road noise but overall decent place. Located about 1/2 mile north of San Jose del Pacifico, on the left if driving north on highway.

Great spot for a quiet night and good food in the restaurant……what’s not to like! I am a big 4x4 and I found a flat spot end on at the bottom of the car park (see photo)

We wanted to stay in the hotel's parking lot. However, the receptionist wanted 200 pesos. We then moved to the restaurant's free parking lot and had a good dinner there. It's a pretty uneven place!

We had a bit of a mixed experience here. In the end it was fine, but we wouldn’t be as raving as others are. We arrived to the “RV/camping spot (first parking spot coming from the north) and while parking there an employer came out who told us we cannot park there anymore, because they want to keep it free for customers. And that we can park in another part, which was extremely un level. After having tried that and realizing that even with our small (6m/19ft) van and leveling blocks we cannot make it okay enough to sleep comfortably we asked them if we could please stand in the other spot, as we are also customers (they require you to eat at the restaurant when overnighting here). They again said no and said that because it’s high season they want to keep it open. We finally agreed with them that we could move our van there at their closing time (22:00) and take it out of that spot before opening time (7:00). With all of these discussions we didn’t feel so welcome for a while, but finally we had a nice dinner (for anyone wondering prices at the restaurant are 100-700. For 300 for 2 people we had very very tasty meals!) and afterwards we asked about the water and toilets and were pointed there. So it’s still possible to fill up on water and use the toilet during the night. Only problem: WiFi wasn’t working he told us.
Edit: later the boss came to help us park in the RV spot at closing time and he was friendly! Quiet night.

A good place for an overnight stay. If you eat something in the restaurant Teonanacatl (right building) you can stay for free. We did, but what we ate was not good. Next time we would stay at the reception of Hotel Las Cabanas (left building) for 50 pesos.

The owner still offers 2 spots for RV for free, if you eat and/or drink at his beautiful restaurant 'Teonanacatl'. Very friendly people, super nice spot!
The reception of Hotel Las Cabañas next door is separate, there you paying 50$ for a spot.

On a adoré !!!

The last parking space, coming from Escondido, is meant for overlanders. It has a sign 'RV Parking' with electricity plugs and a water hose. We spent a night there in our 7m motorhome - free - and had huge dishes (Hamburger, Ribeye) and Hefeweizen beers in the restaurant, delicious. Wifi from restaurant reaches parking.

After we had a very good meal at the restaurant we asked the stuff if we can sleep here and they said yes. There are two official camping spots (marked by signs). Clean bathrooms. Good for the night. No wifi. We had to pay nothing but we ate at the restaurant.

I recommend the pacific burger at the restaurant!!

Ignore the hotel reception and go to the restaurant for a nights stay. Excellent food! Friendly service. Clean facilities. We ate both dinner and breakfast. The manager is encouraging overlanders to stay overnight for free if they eat at the restaurant. Free water, wifi & electricity 15 amp. Cell service is 4 bars anyway. Nighttime bathrooms are down around the back of the building. We would stay here again.

Very nice "owner". We ate in the restaurant and te overnight stay was for free. Food is really nice.

El primer restaurante no nos dejó pasar la noche ni pagando, el de al lado si nos habilitó y gratis.

CORRECTING:
HOTEL - We asked to spend the night here and pay the 50 pesos. They told us that the parking lot was only for the hotel. Didn't allow us to stay.

Before leaving tried the restaurant. They were really kind and told us we could stay. Free. We were 2 vans.

we asked to spend a night here and pay the 50pesos. they told us that the parking lot is not for rent only for the hotel. didnt allow us to stay.

Nice place to pull off. Not level but good surface, wide and not steep.

A little confusing since a restaurant and the hotel reception share the same parking lot. Anyways, we dealt with the reception staff. The reception charged us $50p/night to park overnight. The lot isn't level anywhere but we borrowed a few bricks that were laying around and made it work. WiFi is not included. The bathrooms in the reception however are super nice and clean!! <3 Bathrooms closed 9pm-7:30am. No showers offered. Dog friendly and great views from the parking lot. 3g/H+ telcel reception

Great place to overnight on the way to Puerto Angel/ Puerto Escondido. Nice cabins in a beautiful setting on top of the mountain. Restaurant on site. $550 pesos for a double and $350 for a quartos. Wifi available extra charge of .10 pesos. Includes continental breakfast. Big parking lot - welcome site after winding mountain road. Turn off is off main road just before you hit San Jose del Pacifico.

Seen when passing. You could probably also camp here. Price unknown. But good to know when you get caught up on this horrible (topes without end!) road by night!
