Latest Check-Ins

Just drove by, appears to be totally under water as of 8/27 from all the rain I guess. Stayed there 4 or 5 nights ago and it was a huge wide gravel and sand area. Lots of other campers.not very noisy if you drive away from the bridge. Access was a little rough but manageable in (our old beater) 34’ class A. Not sure what access will be like now that it’s flooded.

Report Check-In

Beatiful location right on the river bed. Might not be available early spring during thawing season.

Report Check-In

Nice place to camp. Some noise from the road, but not too bad.

Report Check-In

8 other groups camping on a saturday night, most with very large 5th wheels. I didn't see any "no camping" signs, as others mentioned. It's a beautiful spot, right on a wide river, would be perfect except the bridge is noisy. 2 bars from Google Fi.

Report Check-In

Two ‘no camping’ signs on the way in. And didn’t see other rigs out there. Maybe it’s closed now?

Report Check-In

Huge open area with allot of open spots available, several other camper's along the river and still had plenty of room.

Report Check-In

Great place in between Anchorage and the Denali. Trucks can be heard but it’s not too bad. Lots of space

Report Check-In

Great looking place, drove by, saw several rigs, plenty of space.

Report Check-In

First time we drove by we didn’t camp because the water was high and we don’t have our usual rig. 2nd time water had lowered and it was easy to cross. It was pleasant parking by the water on a Thursday night… until someone parked in next to us at 12:45AM… even though it’s a big area… and proceeded to unload and ride their ATVs & 4 Wheelers around….

Report Check-In

There is now a 'no camping, violations will be prosecuted' sign at this spot.

Report Check-In

Wonderful boondocking site along the river. Popular with the locals — especially on weekends. Lots of ATVers, so it can get noisy. We enjoyed our one night stay on a Friday night, but opted to move on since it was bound to be noisy over the weekend.

Report Check-In

Awesome place as described bevor. 4x4 is not necessary but more fun if you want to drive a bit further :)

Super place
Juste avant la RIVIERE
De la place pour une ville
Vraiment bien et tranquille

Another IOverlander victory, except the spelling of the Susitna River. Beautiful sleep spot though.

Report Check-In

This is a great place to stay for several nights. Talkeetna is close to visit within 20 miles. If you have a motorcycle or ATV this is the ace to use it. We stayed for 2 nights.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place to spend the night. Not crowded at mid august, quiet at night, lot of space. No amenities.

Report Check-In

Great spot on the banks of the Susitna. Fast cell service, and great views. Here over the weekend and it got crowded, and loud. Lots of folks off roading until 1:00 am or so. Either way it’s free and in an easy to access location. So can’t hate that.

Report Check-In

A great find!. A beautiful rocky riverbank. Lots of rvs, but very quiet. Can hear the cars on the bridge. But I find that calming .

Report Check-In

Great free spot well described by others. Lots of Alaskans and visitors here tonight (approximately a dozen vehicles) but fairly quiet with the exception of moderate road noise. Look 12 min north for good hot clean showers, which combine with this to make a lovely night.

Report Check-In

Decent spot with many, many camp areas. We stayed a bit further down the river than most people, but the river was very full and we had to drive through some water to get there. Tons of spots in the trees or in the open near the bridge. Not too buggy (wind helps). Lots of people with quads driving around the trails.

belle grande plage de roches au bord d'une rivière, beaucoup d'autres campeurs,il y a des "firespits ",un peu bruyant, venant de l'autoroute et quelques VTT 4x4,malheureusement.

Report Check-In

Large area with lots of noise, even in May: from many many ATVs, several other small and big rigs, some planes starting\ landing on the river, and from the bridge. We left, to find a more quiet place...

Report Check-In

Drove in about .4 miles. There is only 2 other trucks around. Can’t see either one where I’m at.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot on the river, pretty much all to myself on a September weekend.

Report Check-In

Really good spot, little noise because the bridge.

Buen lugar, si el río no ha crecido es posible cruzar hasta la playa. Algo ruidoso por el puente. Hay algo de arena en el camino.

Report Check-In

Beautiful, free, plenty of wood and space to park :)

Report Check-In

As described but when we got here the area was flooded and we were not able to reach the other side of the bank so we stayed there at the first spot without crossing so we had plenty of noice from the road. But there was a lot (a lot) of mosquitos....

Report Check-In

Bumpy access but only for 2min. access can be muddy after rain but not too bad, still easily doable with 2WD. a lot of space! impossible not to find a spot. You don't hear the highway too much, if you do just drive further.

Report Check-In

Rocky Susitna River banks. Wide and flat. Easily 25-30 Rigs with room to spread out. I could see this being a ATV haven in the peak of the summer. A little road noise tonight but nothing too bad. No bugs tonight. 2 bars AT&T LTE

Report Check-In

quiet and nice view of the river. we saw others but parked at the end and didn't hear anyone all 16 hours we were there. nice free spot!

Report Check-In

really quiet mid week. cars clunk over the bridge, but not much traffic and overall very quiet. parked here in a class b in a heavy rain, no problems getting in at all. lots of room, of its crowded, park closer to the water.

Report Check-In

yes it is a nice location if you do not bother about generators, roaring ATVs, road noice from main highway, helicopters flying overhad, garbage in the bushes...

Report Check-In

lovely wide river bank, no mossies, which is bliss. not a huge number of wild camps to choose from on this road, lots of private property.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place on the river, you can go quiet far and there is a lot space between trees and bushes. A lot fire places and drift wood. We dared to go there bec. it was Monday and it was very quiet and clean. But I can imagine it's packed on weekends.

Report Check-In

Super nice place but totally packed on weekends. People use this as an ATV trail so in addition to the crowds, there were people riding ATVs late at night! During the week though, it's an amazing spot... and no mosquitoes!

Report Check-In

This is a phenomenal find. Right on the river, many other campers with lots of room. Plenty of firewood from driftwood along the shore. No mosquitos or bugs and completely free.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay on the pebeld banks of the river! Bushes and some trees, everybody can find a cosy place there - and no mosquitos!
