Nice place, but unfortunately their cats climbed up on our tent and now we have a lot of holes in it. Don't recommend it for camping if the cats are still there.

Prices are:
5 USD per person without using the common kitchen
7,50 USD per person including use of the common kitchen
Everything else still valid (January 2024)

Report Check-In

Great place. The owners are really nice and very helpful. Had an issue with the van and they arranged a mechanic that fixed it promptly.
Hammocks to lounge in and a clean pool.

Report Check-In

Nice place ! The owners are very friendly and they can help you with everything if you ask. Great location (1min walk to the beach)

They are closed until 9/10/2023. Send a message on WhatsApp to be sure: +503 7277 1341.
We eventually asked to camp right in front. 10$/p/night (rooms at 30$/night). Private kitchen, swimming pool, hammacks, fridge, shower, toilets.

Report Check-In

Spent two nights with our Ford Transit van parked in their driveway. What an amazing little spot with a great and interesting family running the place. $5/pp, pets allowed. Great shower and toilet designated for overlanders. Two refreshing pools. Loads of hammocks (obviously).

Nice shade and vegetation all around the property to help offset the heat during the day. Wifi worked well enough during the day to get some work done. No shade over the parking, but you can sleep with your doors open which helps a bit. I was able to fall asleep after 10pm, and I don’t do well in the heat 😅 i bet you could pass out in a hammock for a few hours if you needed to wait the heat out.

The saltwater pools at the beach are cool too. Definitely swing by here if you are in the area! Not sure about the hype with El Tunco area. We liked it here much better. Also, the papuseria down the street is 🔥

Report Check-In

Super nice place! Great facilities, friendly owners, great vibe at night in the shared kitchen. Honesty bar with cheap prices...

Nothing for big rigs. Parking lot is rather tight. We were 1 small van, 1 sprinter sized van and three cars. and it was fulll

Report Check-In

We really enjoyed our stay here! Not a ton of shade for the van, but we were able to hang out in the shaded porch with hammocks and picnic tables. Great cool shower that it seems like only we used (the hostel guests have their own I think!). They organized surfing lessons for us also!
Lastly, I forgot my favorite bathing suit in the shower and realized a couple weeks later. I messaged them to ask if it was still there and they arranged for it to be taken on the shuttle all the way to León for me so I could pick it up! Super sweet and caring. The family is very kind and the kittens are adorable!
Would really recommend!

Report Check-In

we are cycle tourers, camped on the porch 2 nights $5 pp, really relaxed vibe, would definitely recommend for a rest day if you are cycling

Report Check-In

The parking is kind of cramped, as described and you can end up next to the smoking area. However the place is super chilled with some nice areas to hangout in. The owners are lovely to chat to

Report Check-In

Stayed one night but would recommend to stay at cocolito in Mizata if you want to have more space and stay more than one night.
5$ per person with toilet, shower, wifi, shared kitchen, hammocks and pool.
Very close to the beach

This place is a paradise! Absolutely recommend..

We wanted to stay a day but ended up staying a week .. The atmosphere feels like a family! Guests of the hostel and the hosts itself are super nice and relaxed! One of the nicest places we have been on our trip..

Report Check-In

very nice spot. 5$pP. place for 2-3 Vans, can definitely recommend. good equipped kitchen, nice pool, super friendly owners.

there is a big resort beach Eastside, they have saltwater pools for free, only open during the week

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 2 nights, very nice spot with super friendly family who welcome us. Send a WhatsApp before to be sure they have space (rooms or camping). Great shower with good pressure, very nice ambiance, many hammock and a wonderful pool. 2min walk from the beach with bars and restaurants. Just perfect to enjoy the beach, surf and take some diving class with Mark! Recommend at 100%

Report Check-In

What a nice spot.
Showers/bathroom possibility of wifi
Its a diving center so try it !
Quick walk to the beach, popusa at 100 meters for late dinner and restaurant on the beach at 400 meters.

Report Check-In

Not much to add to the good reviews below. Enjoyed hanging out with other travelers, very friendly and helpful owners, our dog could train being around cats, the wifi is decent enough to video call or work a bit, plenty of hammocks to chill, the pool and shower are refreshing, what else do you need? :)

Report Check-In

Awesome spot! Lovely property, especially loved rolling out of bed and jumping straight into the pool! New shower and toilet inside the parking lot especially for the overlanders. They said they allow pets (they have a few kittens and a dog, so friendly animals only). The tidal pools at the beach were awesome, a few minutes walk. The only downside is there’s no shade where you park, so if it’s sunny, it’s blitz-hot by 8am [hence the jumping straight into the pool].

Report Check-In

We enjoyed our three-night stay! Night lows in mid-May were around 80 and highs were…hot. We practically lived at the pool. Also enjoyed the beach at the end of the road and the Palmarcita pools on a Friday afternoon. (Sidenote: The gate to the pools was locked Monday morning and the hotel wouldn’t let us in without paying $12 pp.) The hostel parking lot is small with no shade. But there are lots of places to relax in the shade (pool, hammocks). Good outdoor kitchen and coffee maker. Refreshing cold shower and a water spigot. The overlander bathrooms and shower are SO close to being done. I think they all work, but the finishes aren’t done yet. They’re in a great location right off the parking lot. We learned so much about El Salvador from Mark and Xenia.

Report Check-In

We have a rv of 27 fit. It was just but ok to park :)
Thé place is relax, chill.
Nice swimming pool, toilets and shower very clean and just next to a super spot for surfing

Report Check-In

A great hostal run by a very nice family from Holland. Communal kitchen, swimming pool, hammocks, new showers and toilets with tp in progress. 2 minutes walking to the Palmarcita beach. Also they built pools next to the ocean, great when big waves. Free during the week, simply go there and enjoy. 25$ during the weekend we heard…Quiet. International backpackers around. We could park our RV on the parking that can fit no more than 2 RVs so you should check with Mark before getting there (number in a post below). Our kids loved their time there and the 2 daughters of the family are very sweet. We stayed 4 nights instead of 1. We paid 5$ pp per night and half price for children. We recommend !

Report Check-In

Had some great and relaxed days staying at the parking lot of Hammock Plantation. You can hang in one of the hammocks or in the kitchen area with the owners and other backpackers. Because there aren't much hotels around you'll have the beach for yourself on weekdays!

There is no shade in the parking lot so it gets pretty hot. They are building a new toilet and shower outside of the hostel so overlanders will have their own toilet (should be ready around may '22).

Report Check-In

Mark and Xenia are excellent hosts as well as being a wealth of information. They can help organize surf lessons, tours and diving trips. They gave us great advice about which tourist destinations to see and which to skip.

The parking lot can accommodate 3 vehicles, one for a long van like our Ford Transit (22 ft). We recommend you contact them in advance to see if they have space for your vehicle. The hostel itself is very popular and we met lots of awesome travellers from all over. If you’d like to stay in one of their rooms, definitely book in advance.

Laundry service is available for $5/load on site. You have access to the bathroom with shower, full kitchen with cookware, dishes and utensils, and the pool, with outdoor shower.

Don’t miss out on Carolina’s pupusas (can be made vegan) for $0.50 each or her Salvadoran breakfasts for $2.50. She’s an angel and located near the highway.

We were only supposed to stay for two days to wait for our vehicle papers from Canada. That quickly turned into a week. It is hard to leave when you’re in a cozy spot with great people. We enjoyed our stay.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 4 nights camping in our Land Cruiser out front. During the day there is no shade on the parking lot yet because the palm trees there are still growing. But there is a gate and it is very safe so we left the windows open all day and in the afternoon the house spends shade.

You can use all the facilities including a well stocked kitchen, a comfortable common area with many hammocks, two pools, a clean bathroom with a good shower and Wi-Fi that even works inside the car.
You also get complementary coffee and purified drinking water.
Softdrinks and beer are for sale if needed.

This place is very relaxed and quiet even over the weekend. The owners Mark, Xenia and their two daughters moved here from the Netherlands a few years ago. They all speak English fluently and are so friendly, helpful and fun to talk to.

Mark also offers open water diving courses if you are interested in that.

Report Check-In

Stayed here during the semana santa weekend and had a great time. Best place we stayed on the coast from La Libertad upwards. Super friendly and fun family who runs the place. They are very helpfull for example if you want to book a shuttle to Nicaragua or Guatemala.
The place is nice with a pool, boardgames and, ofcourse, hammocks.
You can ask the local fisherman on the beach if they have fresh fish for sale.

Report Check-In

a lovely family, a lovely hostel. near the beach, affordable, and with s great wall along the cliffs to the next beach, even with salt water pools (best at high tide and free during the weekdays).

Super nice and welcoming family runs this place! They have private rooms and dorm room. And place for 2-4 vans at their parking behind the gates. You can use kitchen and fridge. There's a swimming pool, lot of hammocks to chill and surf board rental. They offer tours, shuttles, and diving trips. Stay is 5usd per person if you sleep in your van. Nights are generally quiet, sometimes you hear trucks on highway and dogs barking around, but its not that bad.
El Palmarcito is very quiet and beautiful black sand beach. There are natural pools where ocean waves crushes in. Thats for free during the weekdays.

Report Check-In

Very relaxed, feel at home place with wonderful Dutch owners. $5pp a night; use of bathroom, pool, hammocks, kitchen, WiFi,.. small parking lot, so maybe contact in advance to see if they have room!. 2 minute walk to the beach al with wonderful restaurant. You can do Padi certificationand surf boards for rent. They can answer all your questions..

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights in our sprinter van, the parking is paved and level, but a little on the small side. Room for 3 vans tops, or one big rig only. We messaged on FB before arrival to make sure there was room for us, not a bad idea to check ahead, as they are pretty popular. We paid $5pp, and able to use the bathroom/shower, pool, BBQ and kitchen. They have water and coffee available as well, and sell beers and sodas on site. The bread and veggie trucks still stop by everyday, very convenient. Dog friendly! Just a 2 min or so walk down to the beach. The owners are very kind, and relaxed. A great place to chill.

Report Check-In

a home away from home.. that is the best to call this place. I arrived here and was welcomed by the family. we had a great BBQ all the guest (don't understand Mischlin's remark of 20 year olds, we had guest from 25 to 65 when we where here) did there part. The beach here is still a hidden jam. during the week we were there all alone. if you want to learn how to surf this is the beach to go to. The owners of the hostel are so nice and helpful. when they go to town (and have the space) you can join them to do some shopping.
and the best thing is... just relax and go enjoy the Hammock and/or pool.

Report Check-In

Stayed here on two separate occasions for over 10 days total, and we’re going again on our way back through El Salvador. Definitely a home away from home! The owners are so nice and helpful. Senya organizes trips and shuttles to Antigua, Leon, etc. and even orders pupusas every night so you don’t have to leave if you don’t want to. Marc also does surf lessons and organizes excursions to a local maze, scuba diving (he’s a really passionate scuba instructor and can certify you), waterfalls, etc. Also, I swear this place is the breeziest place in El Salvador and the hammocks are perfect for relaxing 😂 the bathroom, kitchen, and facilities are really nice as well. Don’t pass this place up!

Report Check-In

The place in the area if you want to meet and chill with other travellers in their twenties.

Hot shower and english speaking owners is very special for most of E.S.

Check out attached picture to see how the paved parking lot camping situation looks like.
Fits 5-6 cars, when packing the up close to each other.

After Checking out and actually sleeping in 3 ioverlander spots between Tunco and Mizata we did like Cocolito Campground the most. This was the best for us because we do prefer tranquility, lots of space, no music and surf.

Report Check-In

Very friendly and helpful owners. Hostel area is nice and very chilled atmosphere. We liked it, stayed 5 days.

Report Check-In

El Salvador seems one of those countries that must be crossed quickly, most of us spend our CA4 visa in Guatemala and then ... run! We arrived 2 weeks ago at Hammock Plantation with a fair week to cross to Costa Rica, they came with us to Immigration office to do the extension, they became like "trustworthy person" to do the paperwork that was prepared in a few days and now we can stay with all tranquility. Here they teach diving, they guide both mountain and city, there is a surf school next door and the atmosphere of the place invites you to stay a long time. We go everywhere in the collective buses and we don't have to move the van. Everything is comfortable, the family that manage it is lovely and the pool is a luxury

Report Check-In

It is a super nice place. Felt very welcomed. There are 3 bakery and 3 vegetables/fruits trucks coming by each morning. Clean pool and bathroom. 10/10 would come again!

Report Check-In

Beautiful place to stay where you can enjoy the swimming pool , the beach is 200 meters from the hostel. We paid 25 dollars for a private room.

Report Check-In

Amazing place, we were welcomed like old friends.

DOG OWNERS: this is a place worth stopping, our dog was also welcomed as though she was family.

Something not covered in previous posts is that there is no need to bring groceries here, there are multiple trucks passing my daily selling all sorts of things (bread, vegetables, fruit, eggs).

Report Check-In

We found a home away from home here at this lovely hostel with this gracious family. We parked in the gated front yard and plugged right in. The pools, warm showers, and WiFi we are treat. The kitchen was a great convenience. Very safe area and short walk to beach. The owners are always onsite and helped us with many logistics of our travels. They also offer lots of cool tours

Report Check-In

$5USD per person/night to camp. Amenities include toilet, shower, kitchen, wifi, dining table, pool, and the hammocks. Great owners and close to the beach. It was a very relaxed spot. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

Besides the delicious order-in pupusas, lovely owners, nice kitchen you can use & the free mangos, we especially liked this place because the beach is a 1-minute walk and it is super quiet! Especially in the water for surfing: this is your spot! Great!

Report Check-In

completely agree, this place is really nice! relax. Owner is so lovely and she loves to talk to people (english speaking). place is great

Report Check-In

Great place to stay one night, one week or one month (if you stay a few days, possibility to help and stay for free). Clean washroom and toilets, hammock, kitchen, purified water, pool, mangos, laundry and many more things available ! Purchase food, there's only a very small tienda around. But it's possible to command almost free pupusas for the dinner (3 for 1$) and other things. We could have electricity for our van so we could use our fan all night long ! Lovely and helpful family 😊

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay and relax! Pretty quiet for the area as it's hard to find a spot without the loud trucks brakes noise. Better to buy some food before to come as there is no tienda around, Please try the pupusas (3 for 1$). Electricity, good wifi and lovely family vibes! Nice dogs allowed =)
