Latest Check-Ins

Good place for extending the visa, nice, helpful staff. All the procedure can last a few hours. First: they check all your passport informations (computer system very slow), second: you have to go to Banco Nacional (open until 1pm) to pay the fee (4000Pes.), third: come back again, get photographed and fingerprinted and wait for the paper (no stamp in the passport). Best to go 10 days before your visa expires, otherwise you loose days. Office hours 8am-4pm

Report Check-In

Our visa will expire on March 9th but our flight back to Alaska is March 22nd. We don't have plans to do a border crossing into Chile due to hassles of COVID testing and length of travel time to Mendoza.

We are currently in San Carlos de Bariloche so we might as well go to the Immigration office.

When I got there at 11am, the guy named Cami helped me. I spoke english right away and luckily he spoke good english. 😁

He entered all my passport info in the computer and asked for my occupation, city of residence, and home address. Then, a big pause!

Their computer system wouldn't let him give me a visa extension. He suggested that we come back on Feb 28th or Mar 1st. ARG4,000 for another 90 day (extension).

I asked if I can let the visa expire and pay a "multa" before leaving Argentina. He didn't call it a "multa" but "Habilitacion de Salida - Extra Mercosur." ARG12,500 will be the fee upon exit. He even took a photo of their tariff rates for me.

I asked if we wont get a bad record or be blacklisted, the guy laughed and said: "No. We are not like the USA. Just pay the fee and you're good to go."

We plan to extend our visa at an immigration office somewhere and pay ARG4,000 and not deal with ARG12,500 and the hassles that might go with it.

The office answered all my questions and the guy was very friendly and accomodating.

Hope this update helps!
