Description

Nice beach with crystal clear water since the lagoon is covered by a reef. You have nice corals and a lot a fish, good fun to snorkel. Also a good place to fish. No people, no tourists! Only some local fisherman that provide all kind fish for dinner (octopus, snapper, squid, lobster...). They have a nice bar down at the beach. We had a nice grassy spot overlooking the lagoon and we used toilet and showers of the „mud hut“. Since they - Ken and Colin - are just building up the place, in the following weeks they plan to put up a proper campsite with showers, shade, WiFi, electricity (Solar) and a kitchen. Ken and Colin are amazing hosts and will arrange whatever you need. They have not officially opened and haven’t set prices yet. But prices will be fair. This place is highly recommended!

The owner asked 40k shillings for camp. I didn’t stay . Nice place but don’t worth it that price . It seems that they don’t want overlanders

The location is lovely, the place is very very neglected. Park above the restaurant, lovely sea views. We did not meet Ken we just talked on the phone about the price, he agreed that we will pay 15,000 Ts instead of 20,000 TS pppn.

This is a real lagoon were you can do snorkeling and see a lot of pretty fish and other sea life. The campsite and lodges are close to the clean beach. You can just walk into the lagoon.
The site itself is a bit run down. There was almost no water when we were there. Toilets are not working etc. etc. I can completely imagine that this would be a wonderful place when everything works.
That said, it's still worthwhile to visit. Just don't expect good facilities. The staff will do what they can to fix things or find alternative solutions.

It's not reccomended to stay here, when the owners are not present.

We stayed for six nights and left this place far earlier than we had planned. The owner, Ken and Colin, haven't been here and it looks to me that they already stayed away for quite a while. They didn't answer my phonecalls.
On our first night nothing at all was prepared for camping guests. Susann, the caretaker, was grumpy and kind of unfriendly. We didn't feel welcome at all.
She didn't care about our needs and didn't show us anything of the "campsite".

The lawn was uncut and wood and building materials lying around. I had to cut the lawn next to our car partly by myself with a panga.
In the first night, there was no light, no electricity, not from the generator and as well not from solar panels.

After hours, in the evening, I even had to ask, where the ablutions were and she just waved with her hand in the direction of a certain building.

Inside, the ablutions were completly dark, no light was working, no shower (cold) was working, no water, no possibility to flush the toilets. They were empty. Even no buckets with water were provided to flush them.

We only could sort this out on the next day. But no water for shower and toilets remained a common issue in the following days.

The vodacom signal is very poor. Only available on a small spot near the main building.

The beach is a gem. It was the only thing, that kept us here. Beachbar dirty and run down. Kitchen dirty. Cold beer was only available temporarily. The cooling container with ice were often left open. Four container and every one of them had a broken lid. Run down and depleted.

Even paying tips for the staff (all in all 6,000 TSH for Joseph) didn't change a lot.

Be prepared to see Joseph, a staff member, holding monkeys by their tails and treating them badly them until they are screaming like hell. He doesn't seem to like animals. Throwing stones after friendly and lovely dogs as well.

Only Ewema, the female cook, was very friendly to us, acting professional.

If the owner happen to be there, it may be worth to give it a try, but never again without them.

No credit cards accepted.

The beach at this place is absolutely amazing... With tidal differences being so big you don't need to walk very far when it is low tide as the Lagoon has some pools that you can swim in... Loads of fish to see and the beach bar area is amazing.. The camping facilities were not that great and they were not prepared for campers but they definitely assisted to get things up and running... They are not really geared for campers, and the place does need a bit of tlc BUT the beach made up for this.... The owners were not there but staff on sight was great and if they were not able to assist they contacted the owners.. We camped for 7usd per tent per night....

Best place to enjoy beach life, snorkeling and eating! Everything is said before. We stayed more than 3 weeks here and enjoyed every single day!

One of the most beautiful campsites at the coast. Ken and his wife have created a precious gemstone right on the beach. Very good for roof tents with view on the ocean. Huts are available also. Wonderful beach bar few meters from the shore. Hours of beach walking possible and snorkeling possible. He is making the best seafood platter ever. Big lobsters, octopus or squid as much as you can eat. The best place for outdoor-friends! You can easily spend a few days here.

Wonderful place to stay, basic but great, good spot for swimming, very friendly and helpful owners.

We can only confirm what's already written! This place is a paradise and truly deserves the too often used term "amazing". Great hosts, massive seafood platters (enough for two) for 30.000, perfect swimming in turquoise water lagoon and relaxing atmosphere. 100% recomended😍

A real gem for sure, pick your campsite between the cashew and coconut trees and use the house or mudhut for the shower and toilet. Dinners are really good although Tzs30.000 is expensive, sharing one meal is also enough actually, but if you are on a budget like me either stock up or go to the village every now and then where you can find basic supplies. Ken and Collin are great hosts and make some interesting conversations around the fire which they light on the beach each night. The beach.bar is super chilled, an empty beach and the lagoon is perfect to swim away from the big waves and at low tide the natural swimming pool is amazing. Great location and they really go out of their way to make you comfortable and you can catch a free ride to the village on the motorcycle to do some basic groceries if you like, although it makes for a nice walk. A place to spend a week at least. Camping away from the generator which runs most of the day and evening is advisable.

Everything is said.
Actually we came for three nights, but we left after three weeks.
We loved the lagoon and the natural pool and - last but not least - Ken and Colin.
The only negative thing is, there is no electricity, but you can use the generator (of course, you pay the fuel).
In Kimbiji you can buy fruits, vegetables, bread but not much more, so ensure that self sufficient and your fridge is full.
But anyway, Ken is a amazing cook!

What a GEM! By far the best spot we have camped at on the Tanzania coast. Ken and Colin, the owners, are the most welcoming hosts around-making you feel like family as soon as you arrive. They go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your time with them and they’re always up for a chat.

Amazing beach bar, with fair prices. There is no menu but seafood can be arranged through Ken and Colin if you ask. We had an abundance of sea food from tuna to prawns. The camp site/lodge is still a work in progress; there is an outdoor shower right next to the camp spot and the mud hut if vacant can be used. If you’re well kitted, it is more than comfortable. Highly recommended, we stayed for a week and will be back 100%.
