Super welcoming people! We had a campfire and shared some food. Diego and friends practiced Spanish with me and gave us lots of tips for the next leg of the journey. Our dog loved playing with Nono. Definitely a good spot if you are feeling social.

This was our first stop after crossing into Mexico. Greeted by friendly Diego and a couple other people camping, made us feel right at home. Beautiful scenery! Nice pups. 100 pesos per person, hot shower, no wifi. Overall great spot

This was our first stop in Mexico after crossing the Border of Texas. I can recommend this spot to everyone, doesn't matter if you come from somewhere in Mexico or if you just crossed the border. But for us, it was the perfect spot to revive after the excitement of crossing the border. Diego the owner is such a nice and welcoming guy and the whole area and the mountains around are magical.

This place is a gem and Diego is too. We stayed here two nights after spending three in Saltillo and in hindsight I wish we had driven the extra hour from Piedras Negras to spend a week here. Diego took us to the Saturday market in town to get some fire tacos. He recommended all the best hiking and climbing spots (he's a professional climber and volunteer rescuer). We grilled with him the night before we left. He has two dogs who are just adorable. The Dane's name is Nono. We stayed here in the dead of Summer and the canopies that drape his property are perfect. There is an out house and a nice shower, and electricity hook ups. Oh and we had our dog and all the dogs got along. Monterey is very close by too. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Our pictures are at the end.
(The commenter below may be expecting an American RV park or something which this is absolutely not. It's rustic, it has character, it's charming and it's not perfect)

looks like a dump station. empty beer cans, damaged cars, etc. all over the place.

went to a better pleace.

Perfect place to stay the night after crossing the border into Mexico. The scenery is fantastic. The road to get there is a bit bumpy but still pretty good to do with a 2wd van. At first glance it doesn't look like a camp ground but soon Diego came to greet us and that changed everything. When we were there, 3 other vans / small rv's arrived. The atmosphere and the people are what made this a great experience. We will be making this a regular stop on our way in and out of Mexico. This place is not suitable for large rv's or tent camping.

Paramos aquí una noche antes de cruzar la frontera. Es un campamento pequeño y básico pero está bien. Hay baño y ducha.
Diego fue muy amable con nosotros.

We stopped here for one night before crossing the border. It is a small and basic camp but it is ok. There is toilet and shower.
Diego was very kind to us.

The views here are just breathtaking, and the people are so friendly and generous. Diego and his friends really make you feel at home, and I'm staying a couple more days than I had planned. If you like dogs, they have a couple of great ones. Perfect base point for climbers or overlanding.

the price have change since the hot shower Is working Now Is 100 pesos per person per night.

If you have a rough-road vehicle, Unimog or Land Rover and 4-wheel drive, the difficult roads will not be a deterrent. Very hard to find even with GPS. Locked up tight, no one responding to calls from the gate.

If you're looking for a flash RV campground...keep on driving! But if you want just basic facilities in a rough and ready climbing location and don't mind sharing it with assorted piles of building materials and vehicles in various dismembered states THIS is the place for you!

We only came for 1w, but stayed for 2!

Hosted by Diego, a talented climber who represented Mexico in his younger days, he is a very hospitable host. He regularly hosts fiestas with his amigos which run late into the night, giving you a real taste of Mexican hospitality.

The 'campground' is basically his front yard, and has reasonable security with basic fences. There is a standard on again/off again gas fired hot shower which comes with a working showerhead (don't laugh, most campsite showers in Mexico just have a half broken pipe coming out of the wall). And a working fridge/freezer. And hammocks.

The campsite is 1-2 miles from the climbing areas, which contain a wide range of over 600 mostly single pitch, mostly reasonably bolted, routes on questionable, somewhat polished limestone from 5.8-5.13.

This small campsite also comes with 3 very large, very, very, very friendly dogs who will give you more attention than you could possibly desire. If you like dogs, this is the place for you! But be careful where you walk, dog debris is a hazard ;)

No wifi. 200Ps/n for 2 persons in a car camper, no hookup.

Nice people who live here, very polite and accommodating. There is water and electric for light use (no AC units). The incline may be a concern for low clearance campers over 22' or so, I have steel wheels on my back hitch that keep my RV off the ground but you do scrape. Nor make cars, sedans to trucks should have no issues, just RVs with long overhangs.

Otherwise after having only observed this area in admiration for 15 years driving along HW 57, it was nice and peaceful to finally get to spend some time here. Well worth the stop if you are curious about this area and while the rough road may add a little travel time, to me it was worth it.

** Note there is not a lot of room to park, so phone ahead to ensure there is space for your rig if others are camped.

Really nice spot in La Huasteca with an amazing view! Diego is a super nice host and we’ve enjoyed our stay here for the last 4 nights. There are a lot of great trails to hike that are close. The dogs on the property are very sweet! There is a toilet, small outdoor kitchen area. He will be in the process of adding outdoor showers. Very safe and relaxing!

Very nice secluded site in the middle of the mountains in La Huasteca. Very warm welcome from Diego. Bathroom, no shower. The place is currently being revamped so Diego is flexible on the price.

Spent 3 nights here after crossing from the USA. Located inside a beautiful park surrounded by mountains. Very informal campsite with water and a bathroom. Diego was very friendly and gave us lots of recommendations on places to visit in Mexico. Best to call ahead as there is not always someone there.

Report Check-In

As soon as we checked in, Diego was completely accommodating even cutting down a tree branch to fit our tall Sprinter. He immediately hosted us and he made us feel like a part of his friend group right away. He is humble and truly selfless and gave us information about all the things to do in the area - not to mention the park is gorgeous. He is also a climber and was able to connect us with a friend for a lesson! His campsite is still a work in progress with an outdoor toilet, fire pit, and showers to come. There is even a small pool that is super refreshing during the day. He is also working on his heated indoor shower, which you are able to use. His dogs were friendly to our dog, and his water is safe to drink. We did not hook up to electrical but I’m sure you could work that out! We can’t wait to come back and visit our friend when we return!
The directions, google location, and price are correct :)
