no facilities.

We stayed here for three nights. Although it was over the weekend, there was not too much music noise by night. The waves were definitely louder. We felt safe and had no issues. If arriving during the day on the weekend it might be getting difficult to find a - big enough - nice place. So better to come early in the day and preferably during the week.

Just like in Heaven! Perfect place to stay for a few days or more. Beach, palms and the ocean are typical Caribbean. We loved it. Sad to hear all the bad stories. We felt safe, but we were very cautious. Went in by darkness, left nothing outside, slept with our soft weapons (spray, stick, …) 😉. Everything was fine.

Nice area, seemed safe. on the weekends be ready for early morning fishermen and beach goers looking for sunrise! We tented here 3 nights, be aware of sand flies and high tide level if camping on the beach.

We stayed here for two nights with our rooftop tent. Beautiful beach, lots of other campers and big rigs — particularly down towards this (less busy) end of the beach. Easy to get to, and plenty of spots to pick from. It’s popular with locals, which means it stays lively through to sunset (and you’re less likely to have the place to yourself for sunrise). Look out for ants that will nip your feet. We felt safe.

Very beautiful beach, with these coconut trees by the sea and its turquoise water. Possibility of snorkelling (the seabed is not exceptional). It's quiet, we saw the police patrolling during the day. BUT it was HELL at night, we were invaded by sandflies! During the day there are lots of locals on the western part of the beach here it is quieter but the sea is rougher.

This is a wonderful Caribbean beach that deserves all the attention it receives on weekends. After our arrival before mid-morning on a Saturday, the space on either side of us filled up with Tico families/tourists from the greater San Jose area. According to my experience, I would rate this informal camping area safe. We would be extremely unlucky if a gang of thieves descended upon us here. The greatest risk might be swimming in the rip current, so heed the red flag warnings! The beach provides plenty of shade and hours of beach walking in paradise. No services, so pack out whatever you bring with you. Uneventful and tranquil night of sleep.

We stayed one night (Saturday) with overlanding friends in the vehicle beside us. We had a wonderful stay. The beach was very busy during the day and we met lots of nice people. At night, we had the beach to ourselves. No issues or even bad vibes. The next morning, university students came to do a survey about the impact of COVID on tourism. The place filled up again. The water is perfect for swimming—clear and a great temperature. No complaints. We probably wouldn’t stay by ourselves, but have only the reported stories to base this on (not our personal experience).

Such an amazing place!!😍😍 at day time it gets busy, but it’s so much space so you have still lots of place for yourself. But unfortunately we gonna move on cause of the bad stories.. such a shame! So sad that there are bad people around.

2 campers, 2 nights. Friday and Saturday nights. No problems, but be vigilant! There was a couple robbed of their backpack an hour after we arrived on Friday while they were swimming in the ocean.
Was a fantastic weekend on a beautiful beach.

Friggin awesome spot busy in weekends , big rig friendly ... may not be safe after dark but we stayed 2 nights with 2 RVs in the knowledge of this risk ... would move into town overnight if I was alone just to be safe ...

Just touring around to scope out Big Rig friendly free sites. This place is so gorgeous and would be so ideal to camp. Right on the beach, easy access, lots of shade in the afternoon, the blue waters of the carribbean...
I've spoken to 2 locals that said they wouldn't camp here alone at night, 'but possibly with a group', which would be very suitable here. There are almost unlimited beach front spots available between smaller palms. Very big rig friendly, tall rigs will brush some palms but nothing to cause damage.
I am here on a Saturday and lots of other visitors parked around during the day. I don't know what it's like at night or on a weekday yet but will try to check it out in the coming days.
It's a shame about the previous events here, and that the locals agree it isn't overly safe as It truly is a gem of a place to stay.
**update** discussed with police and they agree it would not be safe

Stayed one night, police told us Not to stay longer. They said that people that stayed longer got robbed. Had a good day though.

I heard the story from a group who was just there about the armed robbery. Just want to say that this needs to be reported or the police won't know what happened.

ARMED RAID AT 8.2.16
We were 3 vans with around 100m distance to each other. We all stood many nights here. At 11pm, masked guys attacked one couple with wappons when they came out of the van. They had to gave all electronic stuff and had to walk along the beach.
The robbers left them at the beach, threw the car keys away and left.
The couple is unharmed and safe. When it happen, we didn't hear anything, they told us in the next morning.

Update: We met a couple from Brasil who had the same experiance in August 2015. We still could see the cuts in the tent from the machete. Story sound very simular.
