Nice little campground. Olga and staff are very friendly!!

Report Check-In

Small campsite for vans or trucks no room for big rigs. Kitchen, hot shower, toilet, kayak rental. Host, Olga is super friendly, dog friendly great place right on the lake. Highly recommend.

Report Check-In

Very friendly hosts, space for 2-3 smaller motorhomes and very quiet. Kitchen available, warm shower etc...

Report Check-In

We went to check out this place.
There's no more tent camping here.
Vans are only allowed in the parking lot, which seemed very small. The place didn't have much going for it, so we didn't stay.

Report Check-In

150 ppp . Nice and clean toilets and shower. You can go in the lagoon wich is 30 feet far from the parking where vans 23 feet long max can stay. Not a lot of places to park.
Olga, the owner is very helpful and friendly. We also had access to the kitchen. It feels like a hostel.

Report Check-In

This was our third time staying here. We were planning to stay for 3 days but ended up staying for 3 months. The access to the lagoon is one of the highlights of staying here. We enjoyed so much our morning routine here. You have access to wifi, electricity, bikes, bathroom, shower, kitchen. Paid 150 pesos per person per night. We asked to Olga, the owner, if we could paid her using WISE since it has a better conversion rate than cash and she’s ok with it. Best campground, great people, great vibes. Love it!!

Hello everyone, this is and updated price list for the campsite. Hope is helpful

Report Check-In

I’m a bicycle traveler but they aren’t allowing tent camping, so didn’t work for me. Other places I checked out charged 200 (😱) pesos to camp in your own tent. So I went to Ximbal hostel, which allows camping for 100 pesos, the best deal you’re gonna find around here. For the price in this expensive town, it’s a good deal. But other places charging 200 are probably nicer.

Report Check-In

We loved this place - planned on staying one night and ended up staying 4. Lake access, good swimming, wifi, laundry, clean toilets, communal kitchen and lots of travellers to hang out with. Olga is super friendly and accommodating, we’d stay again for sure!

Report Check-In

As others have said, absolutely beautiful place right on the water for 200 pesos per night for 2 people (incl van and dog). We parked there with our 170 Sprinter (the van parking itself is not right on the water) and had plenty of space even though there were a few other vans there. Really clean toilet in the parking area which is super convenient! Communal kitchen and dining area where lots of people hang out, so it's a great spot to come and meet like-minded chilled people from all over. We stayed 3 nights but easily couldve stayed longer- I think lots of people come and never leave!! Olga is a really lovely host, speaks great English and is very helpful. We went with our tiny dog and she got on well with all of Olga's dogs - I was a bit worried because of a comment below about aggressive dogs, but I can assure you none of her dogs were even slightly aggressive. They're all very friendly! There are bikes to take to town and kayaks for the lake. Make sure you do a sailing trip with the person Olga recommends - it was incredible. Gracias Olga - we hope to be back soon!!

Report Check-In

Beautiful little oasis with direct lake access, hammocks and nice common areas that are taken care of. There is everything you need - Wifi, laundry for 45 pesos, toilets, hot showers, kitchen. We paid 200 pesos per night in total and rented the double kayak for 150 pesos per hour.

Report Check-In

Lake Bacalar is absolutely beautiful and leaves an impression of how diverse a country Mexico really is. My favorite thing about Jardin de Venus was the easy lake access for swimming and relaxing, especially welcome given the hot temperature every day. We paid 200/night for 2 adults. Laundry was available for 45 pesos/load. There is a well-appointed kitchen with a sink for doing dishes. The shower is outdoors and semi-public to people walking by, but we mostly used the lake instead of the shower. We met a lot of interesting people here from all over the world. Like other travelers stated, parking space is limited, but Olga really does her best to accommodate people. We recommend La Playita for beautiful dining on the lake.

Report Check-In

stayed in Jardin de Venus for a week and.....loved it ! Olga manages the place in a spectacular way: very family and cozy vibe, very clean and calm highly recommend! besides, you can do yoga on the beautiful grassy area right in front of the lagoon with an amazing view or just chill in a hammock in a shade. electric outlets available, bathrooms are clean and has hot shower, +hi speed wifi, + can borrow bikes and kayak for free! what else do you want more ?! really a gem!

Report Check-In

We loved this place. Olga is very welcoming too. Be warned though, there is not much car camping space so have a backup plan if they have no room for you. You are right on the lagoon and you can hire kayaks for a paddle too. Security is excellent with high fences. And Olga is very welcoming. There is just the one outside shower. And the price is a very reasonable 200Ps for 2 person car camping, no electricity.

Report Check-In

We slept 2 nights here, it's a gravel parking, the people's are very nice! Clean toilets and shower. We have access to the kitchen, drinking water, level parking. They have 3 vehicles on the parking that they rent to traveller's.
Walking distance to city center (20min)
We paued 100pesos per person per night on our van, and 150pesos per person if you have a tent.

Spent our last night in Mexico here before we went to Belize. Great relaxed spot with access to the lake. Olga welcomed us with a great smile (you probably read this Olga, thanks again!). Clean bathrooms and facilities. Also a very good restaurant nearby for fish tacos and mariscos named Taco Loco.

Beautiful space for campers with tents or vans looking for a place to swim! Theres even rooms available for people who dont want to camp. I stayed here with my boy friend and absolutely loved it. Olga makes sure everything is clean. There is always hot water for showers, clean showers & clean toilets. You can even use the washing machine for 45$mxn.
The kitchen is equipped so you can cook.
There is always soft toilet paper & good vibes!
Super recommended
Thank you Olga!

More expensive than other places, but clean, with warm shower and open kitchen for everybody. There is a very small garden with private „beach“ where you can build your tent.

Report Check-In

Nice place by the Laguna. Olga is very friendly and welcoming. if she's not on site her phone number is written on a kitchen shelf and you can contact her via WhatsApp if she's not there. Communal kitchen and WiFi (hit or miss, depending on the amount of people using it). Definitely no height restriction (anymore), but you will be camping in the parking lot with your van. Not for long rigs though, but Sprinters should fit.

We where supposed to stay two night and End up staying 2 week ! Great place, shower, kitchen, beach access and more !! 200 for two in the camper van. We add also access too free bike. I highly recommend this place !

Report Check-In

Very relaxing place. 100 pesos pppn in vehicle. As described below.

Report Check-In

It’s open, even if google says something else. We paid 100 pppn. You could rent a double kayak half a day for 400, a sup is 200. There is a washing machine and dryer, each 45. Hot shower, common kitchen, direct access to the lagoon. Wifi is working mainly good.

Report Check-In

Wonderful and nice place. It is like visiting a friends garden with access to the water. You can rent bikes, Kanus and SUP.
There is a common kitchen, shower, toilet,.. all like shown on the pictures.
The owner is very friendly.
The place is OPEN (on google maps it is closed but it’s open) so there are not so many visitors.

Great place to spend a few nights in Bacalar. Great view of the lake, perfect swimming spot and quiet at night. Clean fully functional toilets and Olga is very nice with good English if you need it.
Open after the pandemic hype, and Bacalar restaurants as well.

llegamos por las recomendaciones, es un buen lugar, se puede usar baño, energía, regadera y los encargados muy amables

Report Check-In

really nice spot about 10 mins walking from town. common kitchen, dock, hot shower, good toilets, laundry, friendly staff... fills up with overlanders so arrive early. we closed the gates at night to feel more secure but otherwise just befriend the other people there, there is always someone around so can help prevent theft from the rigs

Report Check-In

Not very overlander friendly. We sleep in a tent and had to pay 400 for two. Most expensive camping ever. When we asked for a small discount (because we arrived in a group of four) the lady laughed at us very arrogantly.
We recommend to go Buenavista instead: more quiet, beautiful, free, and full of friendly people :)

Report Check-In

Had a great stay here for 3 nights in our tent (we're travelling on bicycles). Unfortunately on Sunday night, our last night, someone took a few of our bags from right next to our tent as we slept, dumped them out nearby and took anything that looked valuable. It's a great camping spot and Olga and her helpers are really nice, but there is no security, and a lot of people coming and going to the dock during the day for sailboat and kayak tours. I'm not blaming these people either, I'm just saying there is opportunity for bad people to scope out the place and come back at night (the gate at the driveway doesn't lock). So be careful with your stuff (like anywhere) and you'll have a happy stay here.

Report Check-In

nice place to stay for a few days.
the entrance could be a problem max height 114 inches...our truck is 8'10"
it was tight but ok!
it is for small rigs. right on the water.
large bathroom, one hot shower.
quiet at night ...120pp
no problem with dogs

Report Check-In

This place is such a nice camping spot with direct access to the lake, a little pier to relax and hammocks to relax at the lake. The atmosphere is amazing.
It is clean, the kitchen has more than enough staff to cook and the toilets are very nice and clean. There is water for free to drink and coffee. Very good wifi.
There is a big table in the kitchen, where you always meet people to talk with.
We paid 200 Pesos pppn in our own tent.
You can take bikes to the supermarket or in the city.
You can rent kayaks or book a sailing trip right here.
The host Olga is super nice and helpsif you need anything. What we love most: Olga takes old beer and wine bottles and reuses them. She makes glasses out of it and we love the sustainable act behind that.

Report Check-In

Perfect spot. Max height 2.7 m at entrance. Refreshing dive in the lake. Facilities clean. Laundry available including dryer. 40+40 M$ per load.
We paid 120 M$ p/p

I just wanted add photos of my attack and I strongly recommend you to find other hosts with more integrity and responsibility towards there guests. These photos are 10days after the first attack on my dog and I. There are many other punctures on his neck and body however hard to photograph. Good luck on your journeys and I hope you never go through what I did this week at jardin de Venus.

One of the best campsites I’ve ever stayed in. Stayed there for 2 nights in my VW bus. Gorgeous little garden sitting right on the lagoon. Very relaxed atmosphere.Breathtaking view for swimming, relaxing and enjoying your morning coffee.

Report Check-In

We spent 5 night here. Quiet and relaxing. Olga has made a nice camping/garden area. Nice bathrooms, shower, kitchen, water, coffee and wifi - all right on the lake. An easy walk, or bike ride (she has many bikes available for campers use) into town. Our dog got along great with her 3 dogs.

Report Check-In

I first came here Saturday November 9th. The very first thing I asked was if her dogs were ok with other dogs. She said yes. Immediately following my dog was playing with one of hers named poligi. (Very sweet ). And the other gueddo (extremely aggressive ) came and attacked my dog. So violently my dog almost lost his ear. Had multiple punctures and lacerations through out his body and in the middle of trying to separate them I was also attacked by her dog. Puncturing my leg in 3 different locations and causing serious injury to me. She at that point told me she had only had the dog a few weeks and would take him home. However never apologized even in the slightest. I’m not one to make a big deal over things and always try and find a peaceful resolution so I said it’s no big deal and chauked it up to unfortunate dog life issues. The very next morning and every morning after the dog would be back. So I had to carefully navigate letting my dog out of the van while he was around. She did infact leave and take him home daily but always returned with him. Without notice ! Making it very hard to know when it was safe to be out with my puppers. On the 4 th day (prepaid for 2 weeks ) I became seriously ill because of the dog bite. I was unable to walk and suffering major flu like symptoms, vomiting etc etc. at the this point she informed me the dog had not been vaccinated, I went to the hospital and local labs to get medication and blood work. Also to the vet to have my dogs wounds looked at. But I never made a fuss. Infact I tried daily to to become friends with Olga as I liked her place and am planning on spend many months in bacalar. However I was met with a insincere response and general feeling I was only welcome for my money. Today is November 18th. I woke up. Made coffee and was sitting with my dog in the community kitchen and lounge area. Out of know where she returned with her untrained and vicious street dog. He immediately came after us again. Once again injuring my dog and biting me causing lacerations and punctures in both of us and refusing to stop. Meanwhile Olga sits back doing nothing to help and another guest at the resort jumps in to help get the dog off us. At this point I tell her if her dog comes after us again I will kill it. Plain and simple. I’m met with hostile reactions and told to leave. Also told I was never wanted there and she knew it was only time before she kicked us out. Laughing and calling me cry baby because I’m not willing to be injured while paying to stay. Olga is not a genuine person. Through my 10days there she was constantly rude and just made us feel very unsure if it was us or just how she was. I had friends meet me there and we where headed to Belize this coming Tuesday anyhow so I made sure to keep distance. Make small talk but not interfere or get in the way and in general make my presences small while there. Many dogs came. Many dogs left and not once did my dog have any issues with any other pet. Just this one when he was on the property. She has fantastic place and is very affordable but in the 150k miles I’ve driven this year and half was the only owner to make us feel this unwelcomed . With out asking while I was there I fixed her dock. Made friends with all of the guests, made a few community dinners (she refused to eat ) and in general just tried to be helpful and polite. I ask you guys in the overlanding community to support this place and owners who only care about your dollars. This is the first negative experience I’ve had and hope to save a few of you from the experience. Olga is not a friendly host as some have suggested. She is simply trying to renovate her property with your dollars and I’m sure would be happier without anyone there. Camp here at your own risk.

We had a great time at Jardin de Venus.
Stayed there 3 nights - 200 pesos/night for 1 van and 2 persons.
We were the only campers there and had the whole site almost for us alone.
Restroom are spotless clean. Shower is outside and with hot water.
Direct access to the lagoon with clear blue water. There is an open kitchen you can use.
Bikes are available for free and kayak for rent (150 pesos/hour).
Staff is very friendly. People going in and out of the property to go to the lagoon, but the main entrance is gated, and the door is closed every night. Plus : there are two dogs on the property - we could not feel safer!
Totally recommend it.

We love this place! Private beach w/ dock, WiFi, and hot showers! Dog friendly, really nice staff and a well stocked kitchen with filtered water. Even comes with a super cute and friendly dog and cat. Super clean, peaceful, and laid back. Wake up to an amazing sunrise! Free bikes to borrow— short ride to town and to black cenote. Private parking with a gate that is closed in the evening. 150 P/P camping a night or 100 P/P car camping. The hostess offers free laundry use for IOverLander folks. (She said people who use the app are “good people who are easy going and get it”) she speaks perfect English and Spanish and will make you feel right at home. Kayaks, SUP boards, and boat tours to rent. Plenty of hammocks, lounge chairs, shade and lakefront to relax. This has easily been our favorite spot in Mexico so far and definitely the best spot to enjoy the lake! Great breeze from the lagoon for more bearable days and nights and fewer mosquitoes. She also has tents for rent if you need one. Water is gorgeous and warm. We highly recommend staying here!!
