Posada las Marias is a Hotel that allows camping in its parking lot. We paid 40Q p.P. The showers were very clean and it's only 250m away from the natural monument. River access across street with rope swing and swimming. it's the closest possibility to camp, if you don't want to stay at the parking lot. You can walk to the pools. Everyone was very friendly. Electricity stops at 10pm.

Mark as closed. Owner super aggressive to foreigners. Tried to light a camp fire 2 feet from my tent. I had to stand in the fire ring to stop them. The whole of Semuc Chaney is a scam and sham avoid at all costs. Mark as closed. You may have to call the police next time you come…

My second day here regrettably. Oh boy camp has been invaded by swimmers, water pump has been started and the road is busy as… Posada Las Marias, DO NOT camp here, you have been warned. Food average, but there isn’t a lot of choice.

Huge new road being built into village, totally spoiled the vibe of the place. Wouldn’t bother. Camp is across the road from the hotel, leave moto in car park and walk 50m across road. Not the best situation as the car park has lots of reversing mini buses… lots of noise. Construction, petrol water pump going for hours on end to pump water to the hotel. Down by the entrance lots of sellers… what a same. Nature ruined yet again. Sorry to be so negative. Wouldn’t support the vandalism that has been done in putting the road in…

We loved this place! Owners are very nice, the food is great and you can use the pool too. As the own the caves you can go with them for a discount price. To get here you need 4x4. 15min walk to Semuc Champey. Highly recommend!

Lo mejor para acampar. Espectacular, la gente qué atiende es increíble, nos apoyaron con una emergencia se un compañero. Nos prestaron un boutiquin y nos llevaron de emergencia a Lanquin. Volvería ir sin duda

As described.... restaurant was being remodeled while we were there but work stopped before dark. A nice pool has been complete for a cool-off, free if you're renting cabanad, 10q pp if camping. Tent campers!! They have a nice place across the river for tent camping, accessed by a rooe-drawn ferry/raft that they'll pull across the river. Camping g area has bathrooms for sure and showers perhaps (check with owner). Seems like a really nice spot and you'll be away from others but with some convenience (minus restaurant unless you want to ferry back across). Owner also has info on nearby K'an Ba cave at the bridge, which is 8-10km long (2km open for guided tourists), mostly swimming. We didn't do the cave tour.

Good spot for one night, super friendly and about a 8 minutes walk to the pools. The river was pretty brown so we didn't go in but the pools were awesome. Cold showers but it's so hot it felt great.

Great place. Price was upped to $30 per person. Cold beers, friendly staff and dog.

Good place to stay in Semuc Champey. Parking not completely leveled, but was easy enough to find a decent spot.
bathrooms, showers (cold, but you don't need hot here) in good shape. Friendly guy on the reception talked to us about our car and proudly put a sticker on his moto :)
About 2min drive (rough and last bit steep) to Semuc Champey pools, you can even walk if you want. The bridge is up to 15 tons, so good for all but the largest vehicles.
PS: swing is nice, but apparently not made for people over 6feet - keep hitting the water in the beginning. If you try it, you have to lift your legs close to your body.

After a long and challenging drive frim Lanquin, we got a warm welcome by the friendly people that run the place. Our truck is 3,25 meters high and we just fit under the gate. Being the first to jump in the incredibly beautiful puddles in the morning is really worth the bumpy drive!
We've managed to do the road to Semuc without problem, with a little sweat though. We drive a 4,5 ton 2x4 high clearance rig. Reconsider if you drive a crappy camper...

They have tent camping along the river but we like to be by our motorcycle so opted for the parking lot. Hammock friendly. They weren’t serving food at the restaurant while we were here but had some snacks and wine. It was quiet, kind of seems like they are renovating. We recommend bringing any supplies you will need with you. We had a great time swinging off the rope swing and they provided wood so that we could bbq.

GREAT spot! Plenty of common areas, cheap cold beer, nice area to camp or park your rig. Descent restaurant. Communal bathrooms, showers, sink to do dishes. BEST part is the river access right across the street with the longest and best rope swing I've ever seen dunking you 50 feet in o the center of the river. This thing is amazing but come see for yourself. The 25Q per person is worth the rope swing itself.
