The place is lovingly designed. We were really lucky to finde a place there for our truck with no reservation. Price for Overlander is 245 N$ pppn.

Report Check-In

Always a favourite to stay. Well organised. Clean. Great ablutions including outdoor showers. Yummy food and drinks which are ok priced. Staff couldn’t be nicer. We’ve camped and the sites are lovely-flat and clean either covered area and table and hammocks. We stayed in the permanent tents which have proper beds, lighting and coffee facilities-excellent value for money. Can be noisy at night but it’s central so a great stay

Report Check-In

super nice camp in windhuk. It has everything!

Report Check-In

New rates from 01 Jan 24. N$ 260 pppn for overlanders/pensioniers and n$ 280 non reduced rate.

They have also improved their security - with more night guards and camera. A really safe place in the middle of Windhoek.

Report Check-In

Great spot! Friendly staff, everything is clean and/new. The restaurant and bar are lovely, the stands are neat and well equipped. A nice stop close to town. Walking distance to Joe’s Beer House.

Report Check-In

Our third visit. Very convenient - laundry (now N$135 per load), WiFi, restaurant, etc.
But they really do cram in the campers! And every time we come it is super busy!
We return for convenience of facilities and location when necessary - but not really for pleasure. Every visit and we are just desperate to get back out to the bush!
We were charged N$240pppn.

Report Check-In

For a city campsite well equipped and clean, it is 240$ pPpN, we are allowed to stay until 2 pm, normal check out is 11 am. They also have a little pool, nice bar and restaurant and a laundry service.

Report Check-In

Third time in 18 months. They seem to be working on the site often to keep is clean and updated. Super clean and modern ablutions including an outdoor shower-hot water too.
Lovely bar restaurant and small pool. Good wifi and super lovely staff. Laundry service etc.
we loved our stays.

Report Check-In

Not cheap but really nice.

You still have privacy even if the place is full.
All the campspots have a shade, a tap, a table and a Braai stand.

The location is really convenient, we stay there to organize some visas in the embassys around and was perfect.
Staff really friendly, helped us printing documents.

Perfect to meet other overlanders and share experiences, you can forget that is in the middle of the capital city.

Nice shower.

Laundromat available - 130 n$ per load (wash and dry).

Report Check-In

Lovely place. Beautiful camps, even when busy (school hols) Top notch management. Great food.
It was very cold overnight when we stayed for a few days. For some reason we never got a hot shower. Hopefully that has been rectified.
Would stay again.

Report Check-In

Nice place, the camps are spacious, ablutions are very clean, the restaurant very good. The pool is nice and warm. Wifi OK

Report Check-In

We were a bit daunted when we phoned ahead to book 2 nights camping for 2 UK overlanders in a UK registered vehicle and were quoted N$240 pppn. But, when we queried this and cited the rates and discount from iOverlander (N$199 & N$180 respectively) we were told that prices had gone up and the overlander rate was now N$215 pppn and that we qualified for it - fab.

Love the quirky eco backpacker hostel vibe and “can do” attitude of the staff. There is decent wifi at the reception and bar only and does not stretch to the camping area. All the sites are on hardstanding with a shelter, braai oven power and water. Some of the shelters are extra tall to accommodate big rigs and rooftop tents. Everything is beautifully thought out, clean and tidy.

For an urban campsite it is surprisingly quiet with only a little traffic noise.

Heartily recommended for a stop if you have to visit Windhoek.

N$240 pppn (overlander discount - N$215 pppn).

Report Check-In

Every single comment before me has been spot on. Checked with quite a lot of Overlanders- although we are told it is the low season!

-Fantastic WiFi by the restaurant
-Very helpful staff
-Neat ablutions
-Really quiet all through, more so at night (early mornings are a bit noisy from cars across the road).
-The camping area is private and separate from the general/restaurant area. Really safe as well.

I would highly recommend it. A thank you to every single person who reviewed this place before and made it possible for us to choose it as our preferred place of aboard.

Report Check-In

bad experience from the start.
we travel by bike told one rate when got there Rain & roads flooding 🤣.. they told 250per person way not right .. so we left went to roots2 hostel for a good night & good dinner ..
don't like when they try & cheating..!
not prices quoted here

Report Check-In

When we are in Windhoek we always stay here. Very good maintenance, well organized and helpful staff.
Campsites are closed to each other, but you can enjoy your privacy (reed fences).
Nice bathrooms and outdoor showers.
New huge shaded areas to sit in (with benches) and also to park the car.

Report Check-In

Very nice and well kept campsite. Although om walking distance from the city centre and frequently visited by groups rather quiet.

Report Check-In

awesome camping! if you want to see how People from around the world have a braai, this is the place for you! nice spot, sadly without privacy... but the restaurant us great, free wifi up to 1gb... 180ppn. nice hot shower, clean toilets. can be bussy here with noise from the city. very nice camp overall.

Report Check-In

Wonderful campground in Windhoek. Nice campsites with shade, braai, electricity and hammock. Very clean ablutions and friendly staff. The restaurant is also very good.
We love this place!
Prices 199ppn (180 ppn for long stay)

Report Check-In

regular rate is 199 pppn, but for long term travellers (with foreign license plate) they have a discounted rate at 180 pppn.
very clean, well organized spots, quite close together but they made a great effort to create privacy. table, light, water and braaistand at each spot. good restaurant, german orientated menu. laundry is 105 NAD per load.

Report Check-In

Great campsite central to everything. Clean ablutions with not so hot showers. Pensioners tariff for camping is N$ 180/p Food is good with a bar, laundry service. A good starting point for your Namibian adventure.

Report Check-In

We loved this place! Clean, great vibe, frieny staff and good security. Restaurant pices good with large portions. N$199pp for 'nice' campsites with shadenet, hammock, braai area. N$160 for overlanding campsites. Very good location in town.

Report Check-In

Great campsite with a really nice bar and a little pool. Food is also good. We stayed 8 nights and payed 199 N$ pppn. Staff is very friendly. Great place to camp in Windhoek.

Report Check-In

Nice place. Clean and well taken care of. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Perfect place to spend a couple of days in Windhoek. Arrived here by bicycle.
Was very happy about the little tent roof on every site. I kept dry even during rainy days. Staff is very helpful and friendly. They stored the bicycle for me in a save place while I was on a trip to Swakopmund.
I highly recommend this place.
Good vibes...

Report Check-In

Highly recommend staying here! We arrived by bicycle and Urban Camp was very accommodating and helpful during our entire time in Windhoek. The staff quickly became our friends. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a good stay. Shaded areas with a picnic table or bench for you to put a tent under. The bathrooms and showers are cleaned regularly. There’s even an outdoor shower. The restaurant and bar serves outstanding meals, coffee, beer. The location is perfect as it’s a short walk to a supermarket, plaza with everything you need and of course Joe’s Beerhouse. This was our home away from home in Windhoek.

180 Namibian/person for “long travelers” discount.

Report Check-In

Pretty crowded camp. You can hear the noise of the town, passing trains and other guests.
Well maintained, swimmingpool, good WiFi and good restaurant.

N$570 for two adults and two children

Report Check-In

all as described, I just want to add that sites for camping are very well accomodated but close one to other.
Price is now (Nov. 2021) 190 ppn, but there is a discount for "old" people (more than 65, that is our situation) : 170 ppn.

Report Check-In

Nice atmosphere. City camping but still a little bit green and trees. Nice pool area, restaurant and bar. Good vibes. Everything looks and works great. Very clean. 350 dollar for 2 persons with car.

Report Check-In

Planned to spent 1 night here, but stayed 3. Very nice vibe at the camp. Electricity and water at each site. There are several abblution blocks and the showers are warm. Restaurant/bar is good and wifi is very fast. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Urban camp is within walking distance (300m) of Pathcare Covid test center in Windhoek. Great place to sort things out in Windhoek and relax for a few days.

Report Check-In

Nice camp but choose one at the back. The noise from the road i intense. Great kitchen.

Report Check-In

Best place to stay over in Windhoek. Kristi and her team are superstars. Very well kept campsite and the best food. Try the Wild Stroganoff.

Report Check-In

Nice place. Sehr guter Stellplatz mit hot shower. Gutes Frühstück auch sonntags und sehr gutes Essen besonders game

Report Check-In

We arrived in this camp for our first night in Namibia and didn’t expect something like that. The camp is really cute and well organised, great site with a hamac, shadow, power and barbecue. Wifi at the restaurant/reception

Excellent restaurant with a little swimming pool !

Report Check-In

Nice campsite in the city with clean ablutions.
First night was great but second day there was a pretty bad DJ playing at the bar area for a big group(probably a teambuilding day), so not really nice to hang around the pool and sit in the restaurant. We were a bit disappointed about the food and the staff wasn't that friendly. In the middle of the night a couple of people arrived at the campsite, they were drunk and pretty loud..
But overal good value for money and there is an option to get your laundry done.

Report Check-In

As said before, best place for a city break camping. Delicious food in the restaurant (try the kapana or oryx schnitzel). Ablutions fantastic. Staff started donkey for us. Spot 10 is very cosy and private. Staff very friendly.

Report Check-In

camping très sympa. $150 par adulte et $75 pour un enfant de plus de 7 ans. Petite piscine, emplacement de bonne taille. Carbet avec hamac, braai, table... Sanitaire et douche impeccable.

Report Check-In

Great place to start or end a trip. Or even just for a stopover to do shopping etc.
Love the place!

Report Check-In

Super location to camp in Windhoek, nice designed and great staff.

Report Check-In

Top. Go go go! Great place. City oasis. Well taken care of and well designed.

Report Check-In

Well appointed campsite with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Nice restaurant with well priced meals and a pub. Wifi available near main building. We will definitely use this place again

Report Check-In

Very nice place in the city. Beautifully landscaped and mostly quiet. Great bathrooms and a fun bar. The WiFi worked fine for us at the bar. Great location and nice people working there. One night we camped and one night we got one of their tents for $580 and it was so worth it for clean sheets and a clean towel after a month of our car tent. Loved this place!

Report Check-In

really recommended. the open air shower is amazing

Report Check-In

As was described price now 165ppn laundry 105 per load very busy and usually fully booked

Report Check-In

Indeed very nice camp. All great but the WiFi which is slow at best and only around reception/bar area. The rest very good! Was fully booked on my first night so I stayed at the parking. Still had to pay 140NAD for it. Normal price is 165NAD. Very centric and feels safe.

Report Check-In

Clean, safe, well run campsite. Great showers, friendly staff. Nice area of town. Good security N$180 per person. Loved our stay

Report Check-In

Sehr schöner Platz für die erste und letzte Nacht in Namibia.

Report Check-In

One of the best campsite we have been to. Loads of personality and the staff are the same. There is internet at restaurant area. The quirky campsite attracts load of fellow travelers.

Report Check-In

When I was 15yrs old I also tried really hard to be cool - Urban Camp has not stopped trying. Plastered with signs such as “What happens at camp stays at camp” is a testament to what you might expect. The bar staff obviously run the show and pay little mind to the travellers that the site attracts. For a city camp, this could have been a lovely stopover, with close but spacious camps. However, we were booked into a site which was double booked, so had to share the one braai, one power point and lounging facilities. Wouldn’t stay here again, but was a sufficient stopover

Report Check-In

Great place! Has everything you need and in a good central location. 180N$ pppn.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite if you want some luxury and to meet other travellers. Price increased again. It’s now 180, discount for longtime travellers is 165. Bit of negotiating to get it.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite, very good ablutions, good food in the restaurant, Manny Overlanders Pass here so always new people to get to know. Smal but fresh pool. We stayed three nights.

Report Check-In

Nice camping in the city but not in the centre so it’s not very loud due to the traffic. Campsites has braai area, bench and hammock and the roof above it all. Ablutions indoor and outdoor with hot water are very convenient and clean. There is a swimming pool and restaurant as well. Price: 170 N$ pppn.

Report Check-In

nice camp close to the center. we paid 535N$ for a tent camp 2 Persons. Good atmosphere but a little bit loud. nice bar and restaurant. perfect for the last night if you are on budget.

Report Check-In

Feels like a backpacker place, is almost always fully booked and I didn’t particularly like the atmosphere nor the staff’s attitude. No personal service, you’re client nr. 17579. It’s a clean and nice place though, good if you want to meet and hang out with other people (tourists). Very noisy at night as well.

Report Check-In

It is a very nice campground. The showers (warm and cold water) and toilets are clean. The stuff is friendly and helpfull.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite in the middle of the city centre.
The site had their own luxery braai facilities, their own tent where you have a picknick table hammock en a cosy light. Amazing vibe! The abulution blocks are clean, they have a nice bar, swimmingpool. The staff are very friendly, the wifi is good. On walking distance you will find Joes beerhouse, a must gowhen go out for dinner.

We stay here 5 days.

We travel whole the world for more then 2 years and visit alot of campsites but this is on of our favourites.
So Urban Camp, you totally worth it, for you guys the 5*!

Report Check-In

Don't allow filling of water tanks.
A bit noisy early morning (road), but otherwise good for a city campsite.

Report Check-In

Really nice spot in the city! Clean and tidy, good friendly staff and they kept a parcel for me that was sent here. Laundry seems expensive at N$105 per load but the laundry down the road is as expensive so would have been easier to have it done here. Sites are close to eachother but thats the city I guess, otherwise I was lucky they had space as its a popular place for overlanders and holiday makers in 4x4 rentals.

Report Check-In

Good facilities
170ppn for adults / free for kids
=> good value for families

Report Check-In

Best campground in Windhoek and good place to meet other travelers. Good absolutions, little pool and super friendly staff! Thet are very helpful with everything. Restaurant is also nice and serves good food in huge portions. You should at least once try the breakfast buffet they offer! Also laundry service available, but a bit pricey with 105 N$. They have discounts for long time travelers, which are on the road for more than 3 months (145 N$ pp), normal price is 180 N$.
Highly recommended...also Joes Beerbar is next door and only a 5 minute walk away.
After beeing on the road for 5 month we stopped here for 5 days in total.

Report Check-In

very nice camping. every site has his own braai, a table under a roof and electricity. the facilities are nice and clean. 170ppn
they also have tents, a bar and a restaurant.

Report Check-In

awesome spot. remember you are in the city, camping... there will be city noises so deal with it. food is great - huge portions and the staff is super friendl and helpful. we only saw one dog during our stay that did not seem too bothered about us at all. N$145pppn long term travellers. wifi is okay-ish. campsites are surrounded by reeds for extra privacy and most have hammocks. neat, tidy and secure. highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Impressed with this campsite. Great fascilities. restaurant, swimming pool, wifi, electricity etc. I would certainly recommend it.

Report Check-In

seems to be secure now. They have a lot of watchman and a guy walking around the whole night with a gun.
It was all the time fully booked but the very nice manager Chrissy always find a solution.

Report Check-In

Really nice campground but not entirely set up for rooftop tents. Great ablutions. Fast Wi-Fi in or just outside the restaurant (not at sites). Fully secured compound now, with razor wire and foot patrols. Restaurant is cheap and good food ($20 shots are nice!) Great supermarket is 5 min walk (in the same block is a liquor store, well-stocked pharmacy, great butcher which sells game meat and firewood for $25 a bag, 3 ATMs). Easy to catch a taxi for only max $20pp anywhere in the City. 130pppn for long-term travellers. Wood $50 per bag (expensive - get from the butcher!) Ask for campsite 10 or 11 for privacy and quiet. Note the owner has 4 dogs (German shepards of various ages) that hang out in the bar/reception when the male owner is there or also roam free around the campground. They are unpredictable and could really scare anyone afraid of dogs. Customer dogs are welcome but are expected to be leashed at all times.
Update: ask for payment receipts and keep them, in case you return. Us and another overlander were accused of not paying on our first visit. We had no proof but they didn't push the issue.

Report Check-In

Busy and atmospheric campsite. When I visited only the pitch for overland trucks was available. Not a great spot but not bad either. Power outlet and a watertap. On arrival I was told that the discount for long term travellers (over 3 months) only applies if you stay at least 1 week but I asked again the next day and suddenly this criterium was no longer applicable. Also, when they are full they sometimes let you camp on random open spaces within the compound. Not great if you're on a regular pitch and a big truck parks right in front of you... Pitches are in any case very small and for some reason they hardly facilitate campers that sleep in or on there vehicle. It's all designed for tents. Ablutions are very clean but 1 shower was always cold, a second 1 always closed and a third was warm but had no lock. Breakfast is excellent. N$65 for a great buffet. Dinner is also quite good. Especially the oryx was really good! Nice place to meet fellow travellers as well. Camping N$ 160 pppn but long term travellers pay 130 or 135 (I paid either of those, depending on who was helping me). There is big wall surrounding the compound, surmounted by an electric fence, so it would appear to be quite safe.

Report Check-In

The Campsite is quite nice, the Ablutions are very nice and clean. We stayed one week here, and after that week we were glad to go further, because some things here are not so fine ! The first thing is , that the stuff always runs around at our place. We had 1 m space between our Unimog and the roofed- seat and they always walked through... that was not so nice, especially when you change your clothes.... they don´t respect the privacy. The other thing was, that there were dogs close to the Campsite barking from 5 o´clock in the morning till 11 o´clock in the evening- it was horrible !!! But the most worst thing is, that the "Guards" who run around with a gun in the night steals our stuff !!!! The owners know that !!! so, don´t let anything laying around at night !!! It happend to us TWO TIMES !! - The good Things are, the Bar is very nice and the dinner was very good. You can walk to the Supermarket and it´s not far from Joe´s Beerhouse, which is a MUST , when you are in Windhouk. We would stay here again , if its necessary, but only then !

Report Check-In

Place as written below, more guards now. Nice staff, prices are now 145 ppn, 135 with non SADC numberplate and travel more than 3 month. children under 12 free.

Report Check-In

All the comments describe well the place but it's seem that they have a security problem. Windhoek is well known for the high rate of robbery. My recommendation if you go there, is not to take the camping sites at the far end the camp. We were in Urban Camp in late November 2016 and two guys cut the fence at that place and a 4x4 was broke in. Nobody was hurt. In the night of 10-11 of January 2017 the same thing happened. The fence was cut at the same place and the window of a rented Overlanding truck was smashed out and two backpacks were stolen meanwhile the people were sleeping on the top of it. Again nobody was hurt. We spent 30 days between November 2016 and January 2017 and we think that the staff is really nice and it's still the best place in Windhoek for camping at a fair price. But they must solve this problem of security.

Report Check-In

Nice camp. Paid 145N$ per person camping even though it is advertised as 110N$ for overlanders this was not honoured. Standing tents 440N$ per night. Great Bar and good clean facilities. Also a specialised Land Rover mechanic nearby which is excellent if you need a service and few things checked.

Report Check-In

We weren't as impressed as others. Alright if you need a cheap-ish place in Windhoek. Campsites are like a parking lor, cramped. At least the bar was nice. $145pppn.

Report Check-In

Big place. Not bad for its proximity to the city. But lots of noise from neighbors and other campers. Tent camping is on bricks. Not much fluffy grass in Namibia. Ok for a night and a resupply.
