Description

No amenities but very spread out with fire rings everywhere. No host to check in so pick a spot and enjoy. Get supplies at Buckeye if coming from the east as prices in small town nearby expensive. Gas is expensive as well. Hot spring in small town is nice. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises and nice dark nights with little to no road noise from highway. A hidden gem so close to Phoenix!

Quiet spot and so private!! Perfect location to wake up to the mountain with some little bits of quartz on the ground as treasure. That added a nice touch, to the saguaros!

Nice area and barely any trash at all, but sooo many RVs, vans and trailers everywhere. And flies.

This is a great spot. Standard desert privacy (none) and lots of people, but plenty of space to spread out - there are multiple entrances along W Courthouse Rd. The 360 mountain view’s are spectacular. 3 bars LTE Verizon.

Tons of spots. Some rockier and more level than others. Fire agate all over the ground. Would stay again.

We stopped at the Hot Springs and were told they’re only doing that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Also, I love what people consider hippy-dippy spots, and the two guys there creeped me out….

So, we motored out here. FANTASTIC!!! We are in a 30’ Class C with a 16’ enclosed trailer filled with four big ADV motorcycles. We had no problem getting out here, and that is in my friend’s 51’ of rig. We didn’t go all the way to the dropped pin, but stopped about half a mile short. Absolutely beautiful spot, and after a quick walk, we realized we could have gone farther.

My personal rig is a Tundra hauling a 22’ toy hauler, and if I had been in that, I would have gone all the way to the “end” of this road where there is a loop that goes up a hill. The top has two fire rings and it’s AMAZING!! If you have a slightly more nimble rig, or a stout passenger vehicle (I’m pretty sure my MINI Cooper could do it…slowly…) go all the way. It is fantastic.

The flies were plentiful, but seem to be babies at the moment. Sippy cups for adult beverages are recommended. Get here in time for the sunset. Simply stunning.

Quiet and spacious. VERY Spotty cell signal. Plenty of other rigs, but nicely spaced.

Lots of spots here and less populated the further you drive. Flat, good cell service Ivan Verizon. There were a good number of trucks speeding up and down the road until around midnight and then again in the morning.

We stayed here for 4 nights in early Jan, very peaceful and quiet. Made it fine in our 26 ft class C and we saw some bigger rigs as well. Roads are rocky and narrow but passable. Heard some gun shots coming from closer to the mountains. Some trash but not nearly as bad as we've seen. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Nice hikes. Good verizon and att. Didn't hear coyotes. No chollas in camp areas but did see them on hikes up the mountain. Many other campers here but spots are spread out so you don't really see or hear them.

Report Check-In

Perfect place for camping, as you turn in best to go to towards the mountain otherwise you get road noise.

Everything is great about this location except the FLIES. I don’t know where they come from but they’re definitely a problem. It’s been two days since we left and we’re still taking turns swatting them in our trailer.

Views at Saddle Mountain are lovely, though. Daily hikes are enjoyable. Evening sunsets and morning sunrises do not disappoint. There are numerous spots to choose from. We drove in pretty far towards Saddle Mountain and still had good AT&T signal. One morning watched a paraglider jump off the mountain and land near our camp. :-)

OPEN. Huge BLM land with pull offs for dozens of cars. Very quiet. We saw a lot of vehicles parked all over when the sun came up in the morning. Very spread out so we had no idea so many people were there at night. Small camp fire rings. Perfect Boondocking place.

we loved it here. great place quiet and clean. flys were not nice.

We camped here Thanksgiving weekend and surprisingly did not have a lot of neighbors. We only saw 5 other rigs out there all weekend but with plenty of dispersed spots to spread out it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Nice hiking and areas to wander about. Not a lot of trash at our site, however someone decided to dispose of their shell casings in the fire pit and a round that we didn't see cooked off in our fire so be sure to look around. Since this is BLM shooting is allowed and most of the morning Saturday people were out across the highway having practice sessions. Didn't bother us much but the dogs didn't like it.
Overall if you're going to/from the Phoenix area and need a place to spend the night this is a good choice, but I don't think we will choose to come back here for a weekend getaway.

Nice place, there is room to spread out.
Beautiful after the rain. The road in is suitable for smaller campers. 3 bars of Verizon service.
