A little Swiss enclave in the Mexican hills! Run by Swiss people, this is a cute, clean well maintained place with the best showers we have found in our travels throughout Baja and mainland Mexico. The restaurant was unfortunately closed for the two days we stayed. We enjoyed the small pool. 300 pesos/night includes electricity and water and decent internet. The village ofSaint Elena is charming and very tidy! Very friendly locals. A few small tiendas where you can buy some basic supplies and groceries. No restaurant in town other than some food carts on the weekends so being your own food. We enjoyed walking in the hills surrounded by agave fields. We will definitely be back if we travel this way again!

We've been to Charly's RV-Park for the 4th time now! And we are totally excited about the care of the place, Denise does a great job, they organize what the heart desires, whether repair, tequila tour, set up camper etc. and Charly's restaurant is also highly recommended with many European menus. With the new showers, the campsite has gotten even better! Great, thank you, we will come back!!

We had a really nice and chill time at Charly's place! The food is good, the dogs are friendly and Denise can help for almost everything!😅
Still 300/night.
We recommend!

Report Check-In

We stood on this RV park for 3 days. The owner and his team from Switzerland take care of the guests very conscientiously. All our wishes were fulfilled and we felt very comfortable. We were able to cool off in the swimming pool, the kitchen was fantastic and the evenings very fun.

Report Check-In

Got stuck here because of engine problems and were just absolutely happy to spend the nearly two weeks on this wonderful place with wonderful people. Thanks to Denise, who Translation a lot and took us to the markets, to Alex for helping with the machine, to Charly for giving us any Support we needed, especially his wonderful homemade bread, and to Maria Elena and her terrific kitchen helpers and anyone else of the team. They turned a bad situation into an event...oh, don't miss the wonderful refreshing pool😀

Report Check-In

Can only confirm the positive comments! Thank you very much, Denise and Charly! Attention: If you are coming from the South, do NOT take the seemingly shorter route from Portezuelo via Villa de Garcia Marquez: first pothole asphalt, then very bad and stony dirt road. Better follow the good road around the mountain to Ejido del Valle and follow the sign to Sta Elena

Report Check-In

I would like to add vehicle storage filter to the location please

Report Check-In

Easy to find. St. Elena is a quaint quiet town. Our contact was Denise for the RV park, we used What's App +52 984 270 2084. We enjoyed Charly's Restaurant which was a nice surprise to have some favorite Swiss specialties. Ask Denise for what's around the area. She helped us go to the Quesart Cheese Maker. The RV park is building new shower and bathrooms which will be done soon. The shower was hot but the access in the new building will be a bonus for RV site.

Report Check-In

Far less of a tight fit for us on our second visit. Staff are working hard adding sites, the restaurant is amazing. We love Charly's!

Report Check-In

As described currently 15 amp outlets with 30 and 50 on the way. Very peaceful and a good spot to relax. Smaller rigs will do better.

Report Check-In

Tolle Menschen, leckerer Käse, super Essen......Wir hatten wunderbare 6 Tage hier. :-)

Report Check-In

A tight fit for our truck and 22 foot travel trailer, but well worth the effort. We were warmly greeted, toured around the property, and enjoyed a huge dinner. Absolutely a must stop for smaller rigs.

Still little Switzerland in the middle of Mexico. We enjoyed our time at Charly's restaurant. Thanks for all see you soon.

We spend almost a week with our camper at Charlys place and enjoyed every minute there. Food, Drinks, Talks excellent. Very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended. P.S. There is no Rottweiler around.

Charly ist very friendly and helpful with contacts to Workshops/mechanics in the area. Wifi works day and night. If you need a break from Tacos etc. Charly offers amazing european cuisine with excelent homemade bread. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitivly stay here again. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Wonderful little paradise!! Charly was extremely welcoming, nice and was very helpful in getting us in touch with shops that could weld us something we wanted to build. The food was delicious and the homemade bread the best we had so far in US and Mexico! We only wanted to stay one night, but ended up staying 3 nights. The whole estate with the restaurant, bungalows, pool etc. is gorgeous, the dogs very cute, friendly and polite.
We paid 200 Pesos for camping incl. Full hook-up per night, which was way too little for everthing we got! Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Very nice and Swiss location. Clean toilet and shower. The menu in the restaurant is really good!! Very friendly staff!!

Report Check-In

Once you have passed the fence gate, go up the dirt ramp after 50m at the right hand side - before the yellow house - to reach the RV park. Tranquil place, delicious food and Erdinger Weissbier.
Charly is a very welcoming, generous and helpful guy. He organized a tour to the 7 Leguas tequila destillery, a raclette in front of a fireplace and bakes the best bread we had so far in the Americas. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Charly and his crew are creating a nice and peacefull atmosphere for overlanders. The place is a bit outside of the major places where travelers pass but it's worth it. Charly offer sites with electric water and sewer. There is a clean pool and the bathroom is clean the shower has hot water all the time. The food in the Restaurant is delicious. He has europeen food as well as mexican dishes to resonable prices. We paid 200 Pesos per night for our RV and got bread twice a week for free.

For the journey here we recommend to take the Milpillas - Marharitas road. Don't take the road trough Villa de Garcia Marques! From this little town to Santa Elena the road is not tarred and in bad condition. Even ther are branches hanging down from trees.
We had a nice time here and will come back each time when we are in the region.

not dog friendly ! Charlys agressive, attempted twice to attack me, freeroaming Rotweiller didnt provoce confidence for me and my Mexican overlanding dog.. the 2 caged dogs by the pool were super friendly.
the space is limited as the good places have been taken up by stored Overland rigs. I intended to take a cabana for the week but didnt feel comfortable being attacked just so i could try the strudle.. previous swiss reviews are great ! ...im from UK !

Report Check-In

My very last stay at Charly's July 14th 2021. I arrived around 4PM and was told to park in the lot that looked like a parking lot for R V's all left for the slow season. The only place with Electric and water was behind another R V that was parked in two spaces. I parked behind it. At 6PM I went to the restaurant and arrived at 6:12 and was told they close a 6PM . I went back to my rig made dinner and went to sleep. At 7AM the next morning I was awakened by the sound of a steel grinder. The person I parked behind was grinding something on the roof. When he saw me he started cursing at me for parking behind him He asked if I was stupid why did you park there what's wrong with me. He was one of Charly's guests from Switzerland. Me I'm from New York and I was very close to sending him to the Hospital. For ten minutes he didn't stop, like it was my fault he took two spaces and I had to park in the only space with electric. I went to Charly, paid and left. When I got home I sent Charly an e mail, told him what happened and asked why should I come back. He didn't respond. I should have stayed at the Pemex gas station 3 miles away. Charly couldn't care less. And this was my spot, I summer in Patzcuaro. Charly's is the mid point to my home in Ajijic. I wouldn't go back if it were free, not to mention the 10 miles of road full of pot holes you have to take to get to this place. Save your sanity, stay at the Pemex gas station where they don't run a repair shop grinding at 7AM. I've been in Ajijic for 13 years traveling, this was by far my worst camping experience yet.

This place looks like an oasis in the middle of the monoculture all around. Charly is very friendly and helpful! The restaurant is great with fresh and good products (for swiss people: they even have Aromat ;), but closes around 6pm. Pay attention to arrive before if you want to eat there.

Nice and quiet place! We stayed here for 5 nights and had a great time with Charly. We are from Switzerland so it was an honor for us to stopp here! Great food at his restaurant, pool, shower, friendly people. Santa Elena is a nice little village. If you are here try to visit the mill and the cheesemaker in the nearby town! For sure Charly will give you the informations about these places! Very interesting! 200MXN / night for the two of us.

Report Check-In
