Description

A hostel and camping area on the cliffs right above the Cuatro Casas surf spot. Camping is $5 per night/person with a pit toilet or $15 per night with flushing toilet and hot shower.

Rooms, board rental and meals are also available.

The road in is manageable with a standard 2WD, but it's recommended to have 4WD since there are some rocky sections and sandy sections too.

Details on surf spot: http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Central_America/Mexico/Baja_Norte/quatro_casas/

There’s another separate campsite next to this place. Don’t get them mixed up

Latest Check-Ins

Came to camp here (outside gate for USD 5) due to warnings of safety wild camping in the area. I must have got the owner on a bad day or something. He didn't come across as friendly at all. I asked if I could charge my power banks, and he begrudgingly accepted to do so but only for 20 mins. He then told me to take up less space, when all I have is a tent and bicycle and nobody else was around. Would not recommend.

Report Check-In

Nice place, stayed two nights car camping, first night inside the gates ($15 USD) and I added WiFi for $2USD and the second night ($5USD). I rented a surfboard for 24hrs ($15USD) I had a great time on the waves there. felt safe.

The route I took there went down a seriously bumpy hill that I would not have been able to go back up but there is another route which goes around the bumpy hill. Google took me on the 'direct' route.

The owner and manager were nice, they let me use some tools.

I’ve been driving to this hostel for over 15 years. Excellent surf hostel owned by Richard. Share dorm rooms with your amigos for $25 usd per person per night. Really nice new private rooms with banos available as well. Camping on site is an option for $15 per night inside gate. Excellent location. 2 ways to get here. One road from the San Telmo area goes west thru river bottom. Or drive north along coast to reach Cuatro Casas Hostel. Enjoy!

This place is great. I've camped here as well as stayed in the rooms, and had a great experience every time. Right on the cliff with surf below. Even a skate bowl with loaner boards! Safe, clean, good Wifi, and secured camping behind a gate. Great people (both staff and other campers). I highly recommend it if you're in the area. Last mile of road from Hwy 1 can get a little rough, but passable in 2wd (taking it easy).

Report Check-In

Super cool hostel, with bonus pool to skate. Paid 100 mxp per person to camp outside the hostel with pit toilets and a solid point break

Report Check-In

Don’t go passed it and go to some other persons house that has a camping sign like I did. It’s only 200 mxn a night next door but there’s nothing except a pit toilet and dogs that don’t shut up

Report Check-In

This place is NOT closed. I live 200 yards from here I’m here every day. Again THIS PLACE IS NOT CLOSED

Report Check-In

campground is open but you must call a number (6161592756). the street down here is in dry condition with 2wd possible

Report Check-In

I created a "campground" icon indicating the start of the easier 2wd road. There were no signs for Cuatros Casas. visible from the highway when we visited. Place was beautiful and well maintained. Surfing was a blast but fishing was not fruitful.

Report Check-In

We had a great stay here today on the cliff - 5$ per person / night outside the gate.
The road in is doable with a 2WD if you take it slow and navigate the few sandy bits at the end. We got in fine with a Fiat Ducato van.
Pit toilet usable but I’m happy to have my own in the van.
The surf was good at high tide and we had a beautiful night sky at night.

Report Check-In

From the highway, you have to turn at the sign "campo cuatro casas 8". After that just follow the signs that lead to the hostel. Don't follow google maps, or it will lead you to a terrible road. I don't think it's worth the price of usd 15 pp to stay inside the gates.

Report Check-In

ROUGH road getting in. There’s a drop that I was really worried about in my outback. Everything in my cargo box got tossed around. I learned upon arrival of the MUCH smoother route and took it out when I left. Night and day difference.

It’s peaceful once you get there though. The “hostel” part of this place isn’t operational, but the camping is nice right on the cliffs and there’s wifi for 60 pesos per day. If you park inside the gate you get showers and flushing toilets, outside the gate there’s a pit toilet. Parking inside is $15usd and you get to use the nice bathrooms. Parking outside is $5usd and you get an outhouse.

They also have ice, agua pura, and firewood available for sale.

I would stay here again.

15 dollars a night pp to camp inside gate with hot showers and 5 dollars outside. Great spot to camp, felt safe.

Report Check-In

Awesome camp spot right at the edge of the cliff above the water for five dollars a day. showers is an extra five dollars. Surprisingly strong cellular reception. Nice people.

We were the only people camping on a Sunday and Monday night in December. The area is gated and protected by 3 fierce looking but really sweet dogs. This spot is on the sea near a right point break. We enjoyed talking with the owner Richard who has lived here for forty years. We wandered the nearby rocky coast line and estuary. Spotted many birds and a sea lion playing in the kelp. Stayed 2 nights with epic sunsets and warm campfires. I recommend this place as a nice safe stop on your way south. Also check out the giant grey whale bones in front of the hostel.

Great place - I crashed a birthday celebration and the people are awesome.
Perfect spot - perfect moment.

My buddy and I showed up late and we're camping at the 100 peso per person rate. So far so good, the road in was bumpy. I'll report back with a better route when I find it.

Report Check-In

Camped here one night 100 pesos. 100 more to use showers or real toilet, otherwise its the outhouse.

Report Check-In

Richard was a not pleasant. watch out for the dogs. this is definitely not worth 5 bucks to pitch a tent. no services offered. plenty of places to camp on the road to get here for free with same amenities minus outhouse.

Report Check-In

beautiful out here. worth checking out. watch out for the dogs on the road

Report Check-In

Camped here a few nights, they charge $5 per person/night with the use of no facilities other than a few outhouses, and $10 a person/night with the usage of their bathroom and shower. It’s a fun wave right in front of the hostel, and we lucked out and managed to catch it with no one else there, staff was friendly enough. The road in is definitely manageable in a 2wd.

Report Check-In

Great place, scored some amazing waves. the guy who worked there Ron was cool and helped us out. for 2 days camping plus hot showers was $20 per person. owner didnt talk to us but seemed cool. overall nice place.

P.s. watch out for the dogs haha

Report Check-In

8km from hwy 1 on a dirt road. No beach, 5$ USD per person. In the middle of nowhere. You need to surf or else there is not much there...

Report Check-In

We stayed in the hostel proper. Cool to be able to stay right at the surf break. Check the forecast and make sure the surf is gonna be great because if not, you’ll find the hostel very pricey for what you get. $25 per person for mildewey smelling beds (it’s a humid location) and rather dirty kitchen area.

No longer has WiFi. No hot water when we were there. Dog friendly, just not allowed in kitchen area.

Report Check-In

follow signs from highway, road in good condition f 2 wheel drive

Report Check-In

We stayed there one night. Unfortunately we followed Googlemaps and stranded on a horrible road. Check out their website before you go. They describe a better way. The owners where not there when we went so we did not get the possibility of enjoying a hot meal or shower. Roberto was really helpful calling a mechanic since we had a problem with our car. Overall nice people and nice place. Be sure to arrive when it is still light outside!
