Description

Behind Basin Street Visitor Centre, walking distance to famous French Quarter. The best place to spend a night if you are totally self-contained as there are no RV facilities. Paid parking: $5/10 hours or $10/24 hours for trucks and vans, $50/24 hours for RVs. Quiet during the night, we felt safe the night we stayed there. Right next to us is the French Quarter RV Resort where campers pay close to $100/night!

Bathrooms available when the Visitor Centre is open (8:30-5:30).

Weekend prices are a bit higher I believe.

Paid $20.35 usd for one day of parking. (24 hours)

we stayed 1 night with no problem
10$ for 24h on weekdays
20$ for 24h on weekends, or 10$ for 10h
only 10/15min from french quarter
good spot
no wifi, no service, water and bathroom at the visitor center on opening hours

Report Check-In

Good spot for the price. Only a couple other vans and cars here on a monday night. Pretty quiet neighborhood but could hear the highway and frequent sirens until late into the night. Not too bad on noise considering location.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Very noisy night with traffic on road and trucks moving about. 50$ for 36 hours as it was the weekend. There appears to be free parking in street far side of carpark. Easy walking distance to French quarter for Halloween weekend, great party atmosphere.

Report Check-In

Parking lot behind visitor center. RV for 24hr parking $50. Few other RV's when we arrived.

Report Check-In

Stayed for 8 nights during Mardi Gras Thurs to Friday. Amazing location. Well worth it! I didn’t see any smashed windows during my stay but that may be due to a couple things, increased police presence and that (the parking lot company said) the police caught four culprits doing it. There are a few presumably homeless tents camped on the side of the street, east of parking lot.

I only saw one boot happen during my stay, I think they relaxed during Mardi Gras week. Packed on Fat Tuesday first thing in the morning as a parade went down Basin. After parties occurred in the afternoon in the parking lot after the parade ended.

The visitor center reps started getting annoyed by me using the washroom after a while.

It did feel sketchy at night when there wasn’t as many overlanders parked by me, but no one bothered me by calling out to me or knocking on my door. At night I’d make sure I walked back with a group or got a cab to drop me off right beside my trailer.

One little cheat I would love to pass along is to call the number on the board in the pics and ask customer service any questions you have. Literally the best customer service I’ve had in my life, with the rep Stacy. She made sure I did everything to the T so no boots happened during my stay. Also that she said if youre an RV/camper and fit in one spot, then you can pay the car rate. Lastly, for event pricing they make one set price, which may be cheaper than the $50 RV price, just FYI!

Report Check-In

We’ve been here two nights and it’s been great! Very quiet and safe with the other campers here with us. We got in on Saturday around 5pm paid 20$ for 24hr. Quick walk to bourbon street for a fun night out and great location to walk all over during the day. There are public restrooms in the visitors center close to the parking lot open 9-5

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Parking rates have gone up I paid $20 US for 24 hours. I stayed here two nights, there’s lots of parking, as others have mentioned RV, taking up more than one space must pay double. I felt safe, the police patrolled, and it’s a fabulous location.

Report Check-In

2nd time staying here. 15 minute walk to Bourbon Street and French Quarter. large parking lot. you need to pay for the parking spot you use, if large RV taking up more than 1 spot, you pay for both. $10 up to 24 hours, $50 for 24 hours. we stayed 2 days and paid $10 both days.

Report Check-In

Wouldn’t do it. We arrived and there was smashed glass everywhere. Apparently the night before, people had broken into at least 6 cars and pilfered through them.
Even though we paid the $10 for 24hrs, we decided not to risk it and parked on the street deep in the eastern park of the French quarter.

Report Check-In

About a dozen cars had their windows smashed in last night. Vans were all fine but be careful if you’re staying here

Report Check-In

We paid $10 for 10 hours. We are in a 24.5 ft van/rv. Spots are small. Parked on a parallel spot which looked bigger. We fit in one. Plenty of spaces. Seemed safe. Visitor center was clean and nice. Police station nearby.

Report Check-In

Large open FLAT parking lot clearly marked. We took up two spaces with our 30’ bus and paid for two spaces, had no issues. Stayed four nights, no issues. Make sure you pay for as many spaces as you take up, they do boot vehicles on a regular basis. $10 for 24 hours per space during the week. Weekends are $20 for 24 hours per space. Super close to Armstrong Park and the French Quarter. Great space.

Report Check-In

Good location in French Quarter. I paid Camper Van $10 for 24hrs Self Service payment. Safe. Quiet.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for 4 days during Final Four. Close proximity to Bourbon St and 1 mile walk to Superdome. Paid $20/night on weekend and $10 on weeknight. Well lit, clean bathrooms at Visitor Center. Felt very secure and safe! Be prepared to pay or you will get the parking boot! Saw a few RV’s attempt to park in movie lot and apparently try not to pay! Did not work out well!😁😁

Report Check-In

$10 for 24 hours on a Friday into Saturday morning. Excellent location between French Quarter and Treme so easily in walking distance from the city; if you find a spot towards the cemetery side you’re well enough removed from Basin St traffic so actually reasonably (surprisingly) quiet. Very clean restrooms open 8:30-5:00 in the station across the street. Easy access on and off I-10.

Report Check-In

Great spot. $10 for 24 hours for our ford transit van. Not many people here. Part of the lot reserved for filming company. Pretty quiet for being in the city. Some semis on the street behind us in early morning. Bathrooms at visitor center 8:30-5:30. 1 block from French quarter. Very safe.

Report Check-In

$10 for car or $50 for camper/RV for 24 hrs. Being in a van I went for the $10 option and didn’t have any problems. Very safe, police station is only about 150 feet away

Report Check-In

quiet parking lot that felt safe. if you buy two spots at $10 for 24 hours, you can save $30 instead of paying the $50 for an RV. be aware if you take up more then one spot they will boot your vehicle since everything but the RV ticket is for one spot.

Report Check-In

Can't beat the location, a 5 min walk to the French quarter. It was $30 for 24h over Mardi Gras, $10 outside that. So worth it!! The campsite over the road was $250 a night at mardi gras and its closer to the highway so noisier. There are clean restrooms at the visitor centre which is open during the day. Lots of spaces available, felt very safe and great to meet so many other vanlifers there :)

Report Check-In

Awesome place to stay if you’re exploring the French quarter. I stayed 2 nights during Mardi Gras - the lot was usually mostly empty except for Fat Tues- which was packed. But the main big parade came right along the parking lot edge so you can just hang out til the parade arrives. Bourbon street is just like, 4 blocks away. Excellent people watching everywhere- from the van windows too. Pretty quiet here except for the occasional people driving super loud cars. So grateful they allow 24 hour parking and hope they don’t discontinue that! Would definitely park here next year

Report Check-In

Fairly safe lot. Partially fenced. A fair amount of overnight noise. Very easy access to FQ

Report Check-In

Great safe parking lot we were hear during Mardi Gras so a few drunk people walking by and someone knocked on our van, but didn’t do anything just scared us. We would still stay over night here again! Paid 10$ for a night and had no issues clean bathroom until 530! Perfect French quarter parking lot!

Report Check-In

Spend one night here. Paid 10$/24h for a Ford E250 extended. Quiet and safe. Lot shared with the filming team of the serie Interview with the vampire.

Report Check-In

Great parking, be sure to pay as we saw the ticket/boot guy come around regularly. Of note, there's free street parking right next to the lot if there's any available.

Report Check-In

Good safe place to overnight but cost is confusing. Sign says to pay for the number of spots you take but the machine at the kiosk has a separate choice for RV/camper which costs $50 for 24 hours. We are in a 21 foot Winnebago Travato with bikes on the back that give us at least an extra 2 ft so we definitely need 2 spots. $10 per spot for 24 hours on Thursday night. We weren’t sure what to choose so went into the Basin St Visitors Center for advice which was all over the map. One woman gave me the Park First number to call for clarification. That woman told me that any RV “spending the night” needs to pay the $50. We decided to pay that just to be on the safe side as there are multiple signs about booting for $90. $50 is a lot but the location was great and it was much cheaper than the nearby RV park and a bit further from Rt 10 so not as loud.

Report Check-In

Stayed here two night without any issues. $20 for 24hrs as a van. You won’t find other places to park and stay really that are also close/in walking distance to everything & feels safe. This lot is right next to the police station too. Would stay in this spot again.

Report Check-In

We stayed here 3 nights. It’s a pretty big lot and it doesn’t fill up during the day. Mostly empty at night. Near the police station so the cops sit there to do paperwork. We left our van during the day in the lot while we walked to the French Quarter. There is construction nearby with new condos, so I’m not sure how long this spot will last. It’s by far the cheapest and best option in my opinion.

Report Check-In

Walked from lot to Bourbon st, 4 blocks. Easy . Well lit. A few other RVs are here.

Report Check-In

Stayed 2 nights in van camper... parking was $20 for 24 hrs on Sunday and $10 Monday. No porta pottys in parking area. Some construction in the rear of the parking lot so noisy during the day, but overall quiet at night. Felt safe leaving our van parked while visiting the city. Nice they have this parking area right by the visitors center and French Quarter.

Report Check-In

bon séjour à New Orleans.

Report Check-In

Stayed on a saturday, it was 20$/24h. Multiple van/RVs. Felt safe!
There was a (dirty) porta potty.

Report Check-In

$10 for 24hrs for cars but for RV's and campers is $50/24hrs. It was safe and very close to the French Quarter. Visitors centre next door has public restrooms and it opens at 8:30am

Report Check-In

Great spot. If we come back to NOLA this is where we'll stay. Follow basic rules and you'll be fine. Only downside is some sketchy walks back late at night from French quarter. Can't beat the price. We paid $20/24 hours Sunday night, then $10/24 hours Monday night for our 20' van. We did see a few cars with boots, but no campers.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Super convenient for the French Qtr. We stayed in a Sprinter van on a Saturday night and paid $20/24 hours. 4 other campers here with us so we felt safe. Quiet enough for a sleep but can definitely hear cars from the road.

Report Check-In

Way cheaper than street parking will cost you. It’s a big lot and never filled up when we were there on a Thursday but definitely could on the weekend.

Report Check-In

Big and cheap parking lot at walking distance from the French Quarter. Near the visitors' center with public toilets. It was a bit noisy. Probably the best option for visiting NOLA!

Report Check-In

Hello
We stay one days and one night here with our Rv ....just the time to visit the French quarter...
We pay 50$ dollars...this place do the job with an easy acces since the highway.

Report Check-In

This place is awesome. We are in a Sprinter van and paid $10 for 24 hours here on a Friday. The lot is big and just across the street from a police station so there are cop cars in the lot frequently - normally, I wouldn’t like the heavy police presence, but in this case it felt that our van was safe when we left it here. Great price for the location.

Report Check-In

stayed here now in whole 3 nights in my Campervan without any issues. you are very fast in the French quarter. It's a bit noisy, so bring ear plugs.
I wouldn't say, that I felt complete safe here- on some places you see broken glass on the parking lot. but, sometimes the police officers have a break or felt boring, then they hang around on the parking lot. at one day, the were 7 police cars/officer's around me, and chilling a bit. Be careful when you pay. for my Ford E150 Van I was fine to pay a 24h fee for 10$. but you have to pay so much spaces that you need! I saw a lot of trucks and Campervans, they got a Denver boot because they using 2 spaces and payed only for one.

Report Check-In

We had a great one night stay using the $50 RV/Camper rate. Felt safe and you can't beat the proximity to everything in the French Quarter. It took us only 10-15 minutes to walk to the main square. It was also super easy to access off the interstate 10 - just few minutes and a couple turns.

Report Check-In

As everyone said, we have a sprinter van and we were able to take once stall which cost us $10 on the Friday and $24 on Saturday. Visiter centre is open 8:30-5:30. Walking distance to French Quarter and to the street car to take you to the Garden District. The mornings get loud with vehicles starting around 8 am but evening was quiet. Same as any city parking area. Highly recommend this lot!

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Good location!!!
Saturday and Sunday the rates change: 20 for all day. But the RV pay for 2 spaces (40).
Se stay here 3 night and we pay like a car because our camper fits in one space: Friday 10, but on weekend 20 each day.

Excelente parking lot!

Report Check-In

As our small campervan fits into a parking space & doesn't look like a R V we paid $10 for 24 hrs & stayed 3 nights. Good place & very easy to walk to the French quarter. Well lit all night but no security or cctv. Had no problems. Basin St Station visitor centre next door has rest rooms & water fountains & is open from 8.30-5.30.

Report Check-In

Close to French quarter. Big public parking empty when we came, on sunday. 10$ for 10 hours. You pay for the number of place you take. With my RV 22 feet long, I take one place back in cantilever on the sidewalk so I paid 10$. There is a price for RV if you stay the night at 50$.
Realy a great location to visit Nola.

Report Check-In

Cheap for downtown. Police station just a block away. Loud drunken foot traffic Friday night
