Easy accessible spot at a small creek. Good gravel road, no 4x4 needed. A couple of camping spots and a fire ring on this side of the creek. Follow the road over the creek and it will lead you to a more secluded spot that can’t be viewed from the road. Beautiful mountain views and very quiet, hardly anyone drives by. Ok cell Service, 2 bars with T-mobile.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Pretty much the only place here that seems to have internet. There is a spot marked really close by that people use as well but it was really dirty and there was a bobcat there (the machine not the animal) This spot is not too big, tons of dead branches from the forest fire but an amazing view of Mount Whitney. There’s also a flowing creek nearby. Only downside is there were quite a bit of flys and mosquitoes.
Report Check-InExcellent quiet place, a bit less scenic than all the other ones that were already taken when we tried ro crash in at Alabama Hills. Arrive early if you want to have a chance to get one of the best spots...
Report Check-InRoad has seen better days, still accessible with 2WD but go slow over washed out sections of road. Large flat spaces perfect for tents. Multiple sites separated by trees. Water is flowing this time of year. 4 bars of Verizon.
Report Check-InGreat spot! Movie road is closed out of Lone Pine currently due to recent flooding, but this spot can be reached via Moffat ranch road to Hogback road. I’m in a 2wd Promaster van and didn’t have any problem accessing, though had to go very slow in spots on the washboard road, not terrible though.
Report Check-InNice quite spot in Alabama Hills. Stayed a few nights and didn't see anyone. Room for a couple of vehicles. Mostly washboard roads the whole way but not terrible. There's another spot right beside this one for a bigger group. Great cell service with Verizon.
Report Check-InGreat spot! Beautiful views, good Verizon service, and low traffic. Washboard roads, but doable. Stayed 4 nights.
Report Check-InBeautiful View. Accessible in my Chevy G20.
2 Bars of T-Mobile.
3 different spots to choose from here
Creek provides wonderful ambiance
Report Check-InI'd say pretty much exactly what the person before me said. We drove around for over an hour on Movie Rd to find some Verizon reception and no luck.. so we came here and there is some! 1-2 bars Verizon reception without a booster. It took us about 40 minutes to drive to this spot from the beginning of Movie Rd. 2WD friendly and we needed leveling blocks to get level. There was no one around in sight so we felt very private! Beautiful mountain views all around! (Creek was dry when we visited in January 2022)
Report Check-InSo THANKFUL this spot was posted! I couldn’t find any spots along movie road with Verizon service so I came here. Full bars Verizon LTE and was able to log onto my work VPN and do video conference calls! The surrounding ground area is not as pretty as the main area but the mountains more than make up for it! Stunning backdrop!
Site is fairly level.
great spot with icy cold fresh water to paddle in, bring ya gold pan! muddy bottom is very.... Goldie looking ??!!
NO FIRES brush is bone dry and it's windy here 🤔
We drove over the small creek to the north side camping spot. Good spot. Lots of little black flies but they didn't bite. Fairly open but nice level spot with amazing view of the Sierras
Report Check-Inamazing camp spot. saw One other human during the two nights we spent there. creek is great, wasn't too hot, great for a dog to wander. you might even find a cactus or two. view of the mountains are out of this world. windy, yes. we couldn't cross the river because our rig is too high so we drove around to the other side. Google maps took us there.
