Latest Check-Ins

Large area run by the National Park Service (NPS). Very quiet. Stayed 2 nights. Counted 10 sites. In season » $10/night (after April 15) self-registration. Vault toilets were very clean. Also used by locals to access the river (boat launch).

Price increase to $10 per night self-service. Spring water, cliffs, and cliff caves are beautiful. Saw a few kayakers go by. A few locals swimming. Tick season has expanded due to climate change, there were tons. Use your bug spray.

Great campsite — was here for only one night. No other campers around. Porto-John was super clean and the River is gorgeous! Several flat spots (4-6 spots) Starlink worked but doubt it would get through the trees in the spring/summer.

This is a very quite Boondocking spot. Best sites to me was 6&7. They were a ways from the river but the were isolated too. Several spot real close to river. More like tent sites. I had a TC.

when approaching the coordinates, you'll see a slight uphill pulling to the left, this seems to be a tent area with some parking spots that you can camp in your rig. if you continue straight past this area, you will come to a more open area with a few tent pads and the toilets. I just pulled in here in the dark and the road in is a bit creepy but there's another van here now.

Maybe 4 tent sites. 2 vehicle sites. The only registered vehicle site is in the middle of the parking area it seems. A bit rough to get into but it was fine for my mid size van. 5 bucks on season as stated.
The river is fantastic, lots of locals came to enjoy this saturday. Beautiful place.
There appears to be a free spot across the river, if you take the country road from the north, down. Theres a mini van posted up there.
Cell service limited to 1 bar.
Toilets are standard park pit.
No trash receptacles.

Big fan of this place!
Spending my 2nd night in a row here, which I rarely do. Swam, cooked meals over open fire, and met super genuine people throughout my 2 nights here.

Came in late at night seeing this place was free to stay in the off season. Wouldn’t recommend any large vehicle as the ride coming in in single track and the trees are close. There’s no flat spot except for the one by the toilet. It can be difficult to back into since the road isn’t maintained. In the morning we adventured and will definitely return again. This is a nice spot by the river with a large bluff and caves in the side.

I only came here for a quiet place to cook some lunch and hang by the water but still wanted to leave a review! The river is super pretty and the water is clear. It would be an awesome spot to hop in when it’s warm out. I came in the off season, so it’s free right now. Super clean restrooms, too! I’d say there were 6 campsites, and half of them are tent spots (there would not be a place for a van to pull right up to the site) but there is a small flat parking lot where you could park to sleep and walk to a campsite to hang/have a fire. You would not need a 4x4 rig, however I wouldn’t recommend a large RV or trailer as there is not a ton of room to turn around in the lot. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by the serenity of the place! Might be different in high season but it’s not too far off 60 so it’d be worth checking out.
