Free BLM campground, 16 official sites with tables and fire rings, and a bunch of informal sites. Camping is being discouraged at the informal sites. Fills up early on the weekend with climbers. Pit toilets. Decent T-mobile and Verizon cell service
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Beautiful campground. Came around 5pm on a Tuesday plenty of spots available. I drove around and found limited Verizon signal on certain camp area.
Report Check-InLast night - a Thursday night - this place was the definition of "quiet". And we weren't alone - at least 1 other overlander way over there.
A nice stay. But a lot of litter - please pack out your garbage!
Report Check-InClean and quiet campground.
Sites aren’t very level
As on Wed/Thu it’s empty, only is and old man here.
Once you turn right off the main road, off-road gets bumpy and it took us 30 mins to reach the camp on our 30 feet
Att works okayish
We plan to stay here for a few days! Some washboard roads and small dips coming in but our 29’ RV handled it all pretty well. Super spacious and quiet. Hiking, rock climbing and nature trails that a couple people have been out on and exploring. Enjoying the last of the Spring breezes before it gets too hot out here!
Report Check-InGood spot, free, lots of rock climbing bolted. Lots of space to park with tables. Pit toilets no water
Report Check-InAbsolutely beautiful quiet campground on BLM land. incredible views! sheltered picnic tables. Found secluded # 9 spot that was level.
Report Check-InThis place is absolutely wonderful... on a weekday. Sadly, it turns into a theme park on the weekend with loud, inconsiderate groups of people peeing in front of you, flashing their lights in your car, walking straight through your camp, flying drones, and letting their dogs run all over. I was here Thursday and left Saturday morning despite planning to stay longer. Shoot for off season weekdays if you can!
Report Check-InWe arrived at dusk and parked in a dirt spot nestled between lava rocks and with a fire pit. It was one of the first spots on the right before reaching the first three actual camping spots with picnic tables/pads. Great campground, scenic and quiet. However, when we left we noticed several large, rusty nails right at our front tires. We picked them up and threw them into the fire pit. Just wanted to warn others that you may want to get out and look before pulling in one of the spot that isn’t one of the actual campsites. AT&T was none to one bar but was a little better in other parts of the campground.
Report Check-InThis place is a gem. A beautiful campground that is well-maintained and completely free. It's the desert though, so it can get pretty hot during the Summer.
Report Check-Ingood gravel road access about 1mile of the paved street, 2wd no problems. pit toilets were ok, but lots of trash around the campsites, what a shame...
Report Check-InAwesome spot! Toilets were clean, based on reviews we thought it was going to be busy but there was only one other person and the place is huge. Can find some shady spots among the rocks.
Report Check-InKid friendly!
Great campground! Beautiful surroundings, play area for kids with climbing structures.
We came in around 6 pm on a Saturday in April and the place was pretty full, but we managed to find a level spot for our fambulance.
About 20 minutes outside of Barstow.
Came back here from a year ago. Still beautiful and peaceful but keep in mind the pit toilets have become unusably gross and are near full. I recommend planning for an alternative way to use the bathroom when you come here. And I am by no means shy from sitting on a pit toilet. But no. :)
Report Check-InBest to check in early on Friday as the 14 spaces fill up quick for the weekend. Popular spot and for good reasons.
Report Check-Insurrounded by cool rock formations. arrived late, there were several spots to choose. pit toilet was out of paper.
Report Check-InStunning rock formations. Summer weekday gloriously silent. Ours is private site but many are in groups of three scattered about. Overall somewhat clean: random plastic and micro trash, hideous outhouses.
Report Check-InAwesome BLM free campground. We were only two parties on July 4th. Toilet pretty clean (no toilet paper). Easy gravel access road. Felt safe
Report Check-InGreat Campground in beautiful location. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit with grill. There are also a lot of sport climbing routes around. Makes it ideally for a few days of climbing. Downsides are trash and dirty pit toilets. A lot of brocken glas from beer bottles. That's a pity. Please take care of this nice place. Keep it clean and take all your waste with you.
Report Check-InBeautyful. Good cell with Verizon. Love this place. Somehow I was here with only one other person for the whole weekend.
Report Check-InBeautiful, very full during this weekday but we found one spot. Very pretty. Verizon service isn’t great but one to two bars. Definitely worth the drive
Report Check-InIf you’re “self contained” meaning have your own toilet and water, it’s a cool spot. The worst pit toilet I’ve seen is here as well. Lots of people camping in areas with signs that say “No Camping” so there’s a little bit of anarchy but people are pretty respectful besides the occasional weekender RV running their generator all hours. Find a cool spot and enjoy the free sites and views. Pack it out🤙
Report Check-InMellow camping with fun and close rock climbing - seemed super quiet for our stay
Report Check-Innice campground, several spots. road coming in is badly washboarded, but passable for all vehicles. no camping fee. vault toilets. great rock climbing/scrambling nearby, be careful, rocks are extremely sharp!
Report Check-Inlots of campsites and climbing around. there are a couple hiking trails to explore. i arrived after sunset on a Wednesday, and managed to find a nice site. beautiful views. road has some large puddles after a rain, but still very easy to do in 2WD. i would definitely come back!
Report Check-InCool place and fun to explore. Not very good cell reception w/AT&T occasionally one bar. Also had rock climbers come climb early in the morning right in my campsite but it was Saturday morning so understandable.
Report Check-Injust as described. I have stayed here for 7 nights now and it has been wonderful..very peaceful
Report Check-InArrived 5:00 pm on an October Tuesday. Most sites are open. No toilet paper in pit toilet, but otherwise great.
Report Check-InSecond time staying here. It is mid August and it was hot (102°f) coming in last night around 8:00 pm. But there is a bit of elevation and usually a light breeze and this made things very comfortable with windows doors open. I awoke to a beautiful 73°f, I believe. A very restful and peaceful night. As it was in the middle of summer, there was only one other vehicle in the campground and the site is so nicely spread out that it was just by chance that I saw them. I stayed as far back as I could to catch some elevation at coordinates 34°39’55” N 116°58’42”. As you can see from the pictures this place is beautiful, very quiet, isolated and a real respite. When temperatures are cooler it does get busier. The gravel roads in had significant washboards most of the way in (~3 miles) but manageable with sedan if that is what you have.
Report Check-InGreat place for free camping. There are pit toilets but no water or trash bins. Popular place with rock climbers and several nice hikes in the area. As this is a “campground”, the BLM Park ranger told us they are telling people to only camp in designated campsites. It is not a free-for-all dispersed camping area. Get there early if you want a legitimate site.
Report Check-InGreat place to come and forget about quarantine just drive through the sign people to Kevin it’s awesome hike the mountains it’s worth
Report Check-InVery nice place to camp for a few days. Would have been better if water was here
Also not sure if you’re allowed to camp in the informal sites.
Big area to camp about a quarter-mile off the main road turned left off of 247 Going south. Huge area big enough for any size rig quiet big sky a bit of trash
please people take your mattresses LOLwith you
Report Check-Inwe tried to find this place, without luck - the only entrance we could find was private. so went to the other spot across the road.
Report Check-InYes indeed - a great place. I think all the numbered sites with shelters and fire rings are occupied. But there are other not numbered sites for tents, trailers, etc. Pit toilets not well maintained - no odour control, no paper. Small negative to an otherwise great place.
Report Check-Inwonderful boondocking location, there are maybe 14 sheltered sites with pits great for RVs, check the map up front, there are also many tent sites with no fire pits but also nice, beautiful story Rock formations all around to hike. Vault toilets in each area.
Report Check-Inbeautiful rocks. one of my favorite campgrounds so far because of the new beauty.
Report Check-InAwesome! Well worth it. Only a few others here on a Friday night :)
Report Check-InPleasant campground, interesting rock forms, some short hikes. Very busy with rock climbers on the weekend. But they didn't party hard at night so it was quiet at night. T-mobile data service vastly improved once weekend crowd cleared out, was pretty much unusable Saturday night.
Report Check-Ingreat spot but man does it get crowded on weekends (climbers, loud kids, drones, etc)...at least compared to weekdays.
Report Check-InAmazing! Exceeded all expectations, better than most national park PAID campgrounds, this place is a hidden gem.
Report Check-InBeautiful place. Clean pit toilets. 16 sites with covered picnic tables. looks like lots of other spots to camp. We were travelling through and didn't explore much. pit toilets were clean and we'll cared for.
Report Check-InNice, quiet campground during the week. Spectacular rocks for climbing/hiking. Fire pits & clean pit toilets. Better here than a hotel in town! Can get cheap firewood from Costco in town.
Report Check-Inlovely place! spots are nice and spread out.
if I hold my phone over my head, I can can get 4g 😁
Report Check-InNice large campground with unique places and lots of climbing opportunities
Report Check-InFree BLM campground, 16 official sites with tables and fire rings, and a bunch of informal sites. Fills up early on the weekend with climbers. Pit toilets. Decent T-mobile cell service
