Oh wow! The family who runs this place is sooo nice!
It is a very cosy and shady place with clean bathrooms, kitchen and 5-10Min walk to the beach.

7$ pppn incl electricity. We heard that it is 6$ if you are not using the electricity (?).
Beers are 1,25$ for a normal sized can.

The only bad thing is the noise from the road. You kind of get used to it after a while but the enginebreaks of the trucks are honestly really bad. We slept with earplugs, which was fine for the nights but during the day it can get loud sometimes as well.

Wifi is ok in donwload-speed, but we were f.e. not able to upload a video on YouTube. But there are some cafes in El Tunco with very good Wifi (f.e. ,Dale Dale’ 20 Min walking at the beach from here).

Stayed 4 nights in total and would still recommend this place … but only if you are not toooo triggered by roadnoises :D

Enjoy :)

Report Check-In

Decent spot, only a short walk to the beach, an on site tienda and everything on site kept super clean. Far cheaper than anywhere else also! Private rooms available and secure for motorbikes!

Report Check-In

Lovely stay! $20 for a private room with private bathroom. Friendly and helpful family runs this place. Short walk to a surf beach. Can also swim there though it is rough. Good WiFi. No laundry machine, but stone basin area for hand washing. Recommend!!

Report Check-In

It’s not dirty, but you do park on fine dust under a canopy of trees and of course that dust gets everywhere. The coldish shower with lots of pressure is a pleasure bc it’s a hot place. The toilets are clean and the whole place is constantly being cleaned and raked and cared for. We were very grateful for our van AC, also because it masked the noise of trucks engine braking down the hill. There were lots of hammocks. To walk the 5 minutes to the beach, exit at the back gate, turn right, and then take the road to the left. It’s a quick easy walk. The sandy beach is on the left when you get to the water. So fun to watch the surfers and jump the waves here.

Report Check-In

This family run campground/guest house is a great place to stay in Sunzal/El Tunco area. The family is so kind and the camping area is great. It’s not a big space so mostly suitable for vans. Shower, toilet and kitchen available. Only 5 mins walk to the Sunzal surf break.
They were also super helpful and let us park our van (for a fee) for 3 months while we had to fly home!

Report Check-In

They now want 7USD pp to camp & 20USD for a room. We did not stay

Report Check-In

It was $6 per person to sleep in our tent. Instead we opted for a room with a fan and private bathroom for $15.
The room was very clean.
the outside not as much but it was fine.
Ridiculously humid

Report Check-In

didn't like the place. It was really noisy (highway)
basic toilet and cold shower, not very clean

but probably one of the only good options if you really need to visit El Tunco or Sunzal

Report Check-In

Place was very busy with surfers so we were parked in the spot nearest the highway. Traffic noise at night not bad. $6 pp. Allowed to plug in at no extra cost. Don Antonio and his wife are very gracious guests and keep the bathrooms, showers and grounds very tidy. He also took care to ensure that we were not endangered by the massive mangoes growing overhead. Being back off the beach the air was very still and it was HOT! Pupusas (50 cents each) available day and night on the highway near the main gate.

Report Check-In

We spent two nice but very hot and sweaty nights here. The surfing competition is going on til June 7 so a lot of the beach is inaccessible. Guards will not let you thru certain areas. That meant a longer and hotter walk on the highway to get into El Tunco. We were disappointed that we couldn’t find a little grocery store to buy basic provisions so if you are coming this way plan ahead for that or just eat pupusas!
We were camped very close to the highway but it didn’t bother us at night at all. Earplugs are essentially though if you are a light sleeper.
$6pp. Included electricity if you need it.

Report Check-In

Stayed here 1 night. 6 USD each. It was a bit messy and dirty for us. Didn’t feel like staying longer.

Report Check-In

There’s really no other options around but we enjoyed this place and spent 4 nights here. Really lovely family owns in and there’s a little tienda on site too for snacks and water. The price was good, we paid $12 a night to hook our truck camper up to power for air con and access to water to refill our tank. Dumping is still $5 extra even if you stay the night. Communal kitchen, hammocks and lots of mango trees. They have dogs that our puppy loved playing with all day. The entire thing is fenced so you can leave your dogs outside all day with no worry. A little walk to the point break to surf. Shower and toilets were good - shower was not hot but not too cold. Too many trees for us to put out our starlink for internet unless we put it on the roof of the hostel. They have wi fi here but it barely reaches the camping area and wasn’t strong enough for us to upload and do work. That’s okay though you can just browse and work from the many hammocks. You can pick mangoes from the ground if you want. Would definitely return here!

Report Check-In

Not a lot of camping options near Sunzal/Zonte so was super happy to find this gem run by a really nice family! It's a cute little oasis nestled in between some mango trees that provide lots of shade during the day and free fruit! Bathrooms are cleaned daily. The property has both an indoor and an outdoor cold shower (perfect for rinsing off after a dip or a rip in the ocean). Sunzal is 5 min walk down a dirt path. A full kitchen with sink, propane stove, refrigerator, cookware and dinnerware is available for guest useage. Non potable water (available through a hose that is shared between vans) and stable electrical hookup (consistent 120v @60Hz) are included in the $6USD per person/per night price. Space for 6-7 full sized vans but anything beyond that might be a tight squeeze. My only complaint would be the noise... you're VERY close to the main highway and you can hear the big trucks coming and going all day long. Traffic does down at night but if you're a light sleeper... get yourself a good pair of earplugs and you'll be fine. Oh, also wifi is included but can be a bit sketchy both in terms of speed and connection. Still, I absolutely loved this place and would highly recommend!

Report Check-In

As described, lovely little spot 10 mins walk from beach. Antonio who runs the place is lovely. Kitchen, power and wifi. Lots of space for tents and overland vehicles too and plenty of hammocks about. Recommended.

Report Check-In

Nice little spot very shady so nice temp during day when its hot out.. However very noisy close to main road and trucks use their engine breaks all night. If you are not a surfer beach is not great for swimming. Family are lovely and sell beer and water at a reasonable price.
$6 per person for tent, van or dorm room. $15 for 1 person in private room, $20 for 2.
Kitchen well stocked with fridge, but no supermarkets close by recommend getting food before you come. However veggie truck drives past every couple of days that you can buy stuff from.

Report Check-In

Very nice campground. 6$ per person. Toilet and shower are OK and clean . Very friendly owners and dog. All you need.

Report Check-In

This place is great! Nice open space, road to arrive is a little tight. Good place for vans and anything smaller than 7m long. Clean bathrooms and shower and really nice owners. $6 per night per person and does have access to electricity. 10 minute walk to the waves.

Worth every penny.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for almost a month surfing. Great place to be at walking distance from El Tunco.

Report Check-In

Friendly family run hostel / campground near the beach of El Sunzal. It’s a 15min walk along the beach / rocks for El Tunco. Space for 4/5 RV’s. You can use kitchen, Wi-Fi, shower, etc and camp for $6 pp per night.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, we had a great time and our dog had a lot of fun with the owners dog. The price now is 6 dollars p.p. You can hear the road noise, but we didn't have any problems to sleep.

Report Check-In

Very noisy camp because you will hear the whole night the lorries with loud motor brakes comming down the hill! we needed earplugs. possible with our motorhome of 7 meters. very basic bathrooms. OK if you are surfer and young. don't want to cook in the kitchen.

Report Check-In

Had a very nice stay and the family was friendly. We paid $5 to dump and $5/pp. Was nice to use community kitchen, hammocks, common area. Wifi was hit and miss. Would stay here again.

Report Check-In

Shade from palm trees, 5 minute walk to the surf spots, and a lovely family that runs the place. Great value for $5 pp per night. The owner had a birthday party and invited all the guests in the hostel for food and beer. Had a great time!

Report Check-In

Nice spot - stayed 3 nights out back in our van, $5 USD pp / night. Clean bathrooms, shower, full kitchen, ok wifi, some communal hammocks and tables. We used electricity, no charge. Really nice owners :) they also have a store by the road.

Report Check-In

Really nice family, endless Mangos, about a 200 meter walk to the beach. WiFi is okay. Water for refilling for $1. One power outlet available and was not charged to hook up the van. Dumping for $5. Fully gated. Our dogs loved it. They do laundry onsite but it was a bit pricey.

Report Check-In

Great place! The family is very welcoming. When we stayed there were mangos falling from the tree right in the campsite, super tasty! There is an electrical hook up. We paid $5/person. Not to far from the beach/surf. Wifi was a little spotty. Overall a nice spot!

Report Check-In

nice campground. lots of shade under mango trees and free mangos if season is right. we paid 10 usd for 2 people in a van. some other cyclo travellers paid 4 usd p. p. I asked about it and he told me its cheaper without van.
Wifi signal, water hose and electricity on one site. cold showers and flush toilets. kitchen with oven and blender.
surf and body boards for rent. 6 usd per day, so cheap. unfortunately no long or soft boards.
only negative point: a bit noisy due to proximity to highway
stayed 6 nights

Report Check-In

Lovely family. We spent Christmas and New Year's and they were so welcoming.
There is a fridge it's just not in the kitchen. Just ask if you cant find it :)

Great place. We fit with a big truck camper. No problem. It was awesome to spend time with this family. Don antonio was very nice. They have easy access to sewage if you want to empty your tanks. Pupusas, beer, 10 min walk to surf el sunzal. They do laundry and sell garrafon, beers, snacks.. muchas gracias

Report Check-In

Antonio and family are very friendly. good place
Deux Bretons autour du monde

Hostel with camping option. I camped here with my van for 6 nights. 4 dollars a night. Got bathroom, shower, full kitchen(no refrigerator), and lots of free mangos from the tree. If you surf it's close to el sunzal (crowded right point break) and some walk for la bocana (better in my opinion, mostly lefts but aslo awsome rights, great A frame in low tide)

Report Check-In

Great place. Stayed here 2 weeks to surf. Kitchen with oven, clean bathrooms, indoor and outdoor shower, Wifi. You have chairs and tables, plugs and a community area. We really likes it here. Beach and Surfspot is about 5 min to walk. 4/pp or 5/pp if you need electricity.

Report Check-In

Nice place close to the Beach El Sunsal. El Tunco is also in walking distance (go along the rocky beach). Stayed here 3 nights in our small van and paid 10 Dollars per night. Antonio also has a small "Tienda" where you can buy basic stuff like water and beer. A daily fruit truck drives along the street every morning. Here you can buy lots of fruits and vegetables. Recommended!

We filled up our tank of water and we asked to empty grey and black water.
We rent a surfboard, 6$ a day.
Nice place, close to the beaches.

Espectacular!

Report Check-In

If you're a surfer, this is your spot. If not, you're probably will miss the view to the ocean and the possibility to swim. We spend one night and than we moved on. You're vehicle shouldn't be longer than 24 feet / 7.30 m. That's ours and we had to go back and forward several time to manage the last curve into the garden.

Report Check-In

We spent 10 days at Antonio's. We loved it here. Antonio and his family are so nice and helpful. Walking distance to El Sunzal's waves, there is a pupusería just across the street and Antonio's family run a small tienda in their place. Nice wifi. 10$/night for two people with electricity.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 8 nights. Antonio and his family are amazing, we felt so welcomed. They invited us for a family dinner with homemade pupusas and El Salvador rum.
We payed 10USD per night with electricity and he even has a dump station! Antonio organized drinking water to fill up our tanks and offered water from the garden hose! Everybody went beyond our expectations to make our stay unforgettable.

Report Check-In

We spent 8 days here. Shade, eletricity, water, wifi and good waves...what else do you need? Also Sr Antonio, his family and the dogs are super nice. Across the road you can have delicious 'pupusas' for US$0,50 and cold drinks at the tienda that Sr Antonio runs. Very recommended!!!

Report Check-In

Great little campground. $10 to camp, private rooms for $14. Large/awesome family owns/operates/lives there. Practicing Spanish is a priority for us, and we got more Spanish and family time in here than at the home stay our language school in Antigua set up. It's a bit of a walk to surf, but not bad, and the campsite is super shady which kept it cool. Fit our needs well. Highly recommend.

Report Check-In

Nice little place with a lot of shade directly in the courtyard of a family. Antonio is really nice and his family too. Paid 10$. Bathroom-cold shower, wifi, electricity and water!!! There is a trail to go to the beach and you can take the bus to go to La libertad or other beaches.
