Report Check-In

La Pausa closed permanently as a consequence of the lack of tourism by the covid-19.

I have been traveling around Mexico and my mom flew in to visit. This was a great hostel, she stayed in a shared room and I parked my van on the street. Travelers stick around here a bit and from the street it often can look like a bunch of campers at a festival. I was here over the holidays and there was a impromptu potluck and party. I would definitely recommend this place if you like a social vibe. Showers were great, and street parking was safe and quiet

This is the best and cheapest (donation based) option around — you can walk to the beach, there’s a brand new luxury Chedraui a block away, and the town is very charming.

However, it’s not standard camping— the owners of the hostel are travelers themselves and let other travelers park in front and use the facilities while they settle in (hostel is relatively new). There are a lot of campers in various stages of repair and renovation and it has a chaotic feel to it, but everyone is pitching in to help with the hostel and each other and the community is nice.

This is a good spot to see Puerto Morelos, but you get what you pay for, so manage your expectations accordingly. Police, and tourist police, cruise by often, and there’s always another traveler around to keep an eye on your rig. But it is hot, and the mosquitos are out for blood, so we didn’t stay very long, but some folks have fallen in love with the community project and price point and have been there for weeks or months.

Electricity hookups are available if you can snag a spot in front for 20 pesos a day.

The owners are excellent people, very good attention. Located in a very quiet and safe area. We share some days with many travelers from all over the world

Nice hostelvibe and superkind people. Owners have been traveling with a van and know that a safe and welcoming spot to park is essential for your trip. It is indeed street parking, but you wont get anything better in Puerto Morelos, you can use the kitchen, toilet and shower and we could even hook up to their power. They ask you to contribute whatever price seems fair to you. We loved it here!

There's no off-street car-park here, it's just parking on the street outside the hostel gate. We decided to drive on.
