Former Campground... abandoned. Still all sites intact, but best place is to park is directly by the lake. It’s used only once per year for a weekend in August for a Regatta.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
A huge abandoned park with room for easily a hundred big rigs. Lakeside, wooded, gorgeous setting. Breezy when we were here kept the temperatures comfy and bugs at bay.
According to locals, ownership is in flux. Hopefully, it will be around for a few more years.
Bon repos!
Report Check-InAbandoned campground—although we heard it has been sold. Drive right to the beach for a beautiful night. No facilities. Great swimming; friendly people. Very quiet. Take a right off of 520. You’ll see a boarded up cabin; keep following dirt road to the water.

As described, still abandoned, no signs, no fee, no services. Huge gravel lot, dimensiones like a soccer site. additional sites in the woods, compareable to a Provincional Park Campground. If you can manage to find a site where nobody in the near runs a generator, quiet too.
Report Check-Inthis campground is currently Crown Land, owned by the government of Canada. we stayed on a Saturday night and there were probably 20+ other campers scattered throughout the park. we selected a site right next to the water, but required considerable leveling, which we accomplished.
the view was excellent. the black flies were medium, but we were mostly inside our Airstream. we overnighted here on our way towards Quebec.
1 bar cell coverage which seemed to work okay
Report Check-InVery nice beach but you have to walk 100 m and still you have water at knees! Quiet, locals camp here but we managed to find a kitty flat spot on the north end. Perfect
Report Check-InExcellent wild camping location for anyone from tents to large RVs. Many small individual sites as well as big lots to set up many big RVs in. Fairly busy. Park is not maintained but in good shape as of June 2022.
Report Check-InAs noted. Lots of RVs and trailers parked here. Mostly locals. We only met one other traveller. We camped brown by the lake. Great stop for a night or two. Locals use for boating, kayaking, sea doos etc. Lake is warm and shallow. Would be nice to see this operating with services, as there is no formal campgrounds in the area.
Report Check-InThere were numerous big RVs with generators and kids on ATVs on the Canada Day weekend ... not to speak of the bugs! But the place is nice, with easy gravel access and conveniently located between Happy Valley and North West River. There, both the Labrador Interpretation Centre and Heritage Museum are worth a visit.
Report Check-InNice Place. On the long Canada Day weekend many locals were here to camp and party. So it might be a bit noise but still ok.
The road on the campground is used as an ATV track too.
At the moment its an absolutely brilliant place to stay.
It might not last for much longer as their is rumours the lady that owns it is thinking of re opening it for business.
When i stayed, June 2019, the place was full of locals having a great time.
They said the lady knows, visits occasionally and seems fine with the free camping for now.
Lots of places to park, there is even working 15amp outlets down by the lake.
weekend's throughout the summer are busy with free camping locals but if you like to socialise its a great place to be and a great chance to meet some locals.
