Very nice, quite and green Campsite directly at the Nile. Water Taps, free Wifi and free Electricity (they even got a long extension for us) on Sites! Ablutions were great, hot Shower. Martin the manager is very unfriendly (so don’t expect a warm welcome).
You can watch the Rafting Boats pass from your Chair. Nice Pool. Overlander Price (foreign Number plate) 10 USD pppn (also payable in UGX).
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Amazing spot, definitely worth a visit. Perfect place to unwind, could easily spend a week here. Great to have proper camping facilities again (washing up sinks!). Don't order the bread though - it's very expensive and not very much.
Still $10 pppn.
Amazing place with beautiful grassy camping and the most magnificent views over the Nile. Great showers and toilets, a pool, restaurant with great food and a bar. Really worth a visit.
Report Check-InProbably the best campsite in Uganda.
Grassy area with lots of trees, washrooms are very nice, restaurant serves delicious and big meals, wifi works well & the view on nile is just stunning. Additionally the are perfectly equipped for kids - pool, volleyball, bikes, footballs, pool table etc.
The Haven is possibly the best lodge campsite in Africa. I have stayed here twice. You may camp on the lawn overlooking the Nile Rapids. The ablutions are very clean with warm showers. The restaurant and bar have a great view over the rapids. Camping was only ten dollars pp. Drive exactly 14.9 km from the turn off at the west side of the Nile bridge and then turn right onto a good dirt road, well signposted, for 3 km. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Try the breakfast!
Report Check-InBest view on river rapids. Great campsite during the week. Got swamped by busload of kids during weekend who regularly walked through our campsite. Not enough ablutions for such a crowd. We had to hastily pack up and scram.
Report Check-InAbsolutely gorgeous place, big grassy pitches overlooking the Nile and some rapids, free fires, lovely, lovely showers and toilets, fab bar and restaurant, perfect swimming pool and loungers, stunning birdlife and an otter most mornings, u can fish from the jetty, super team, we had laundry done, bought fresh bread from the kitchen and quite simply had a perfect and relaxing time. 10USD pppn
Report Check-InDon’t bother with any other place near here. This has the best views. Rent fishing gear from $5 or even go boat fishing from $30. Oh did I mention the view from the campsite. You can see the video of my Nile campsites on YT Expedition Extreme. This place Rocks 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Report Check-InGorgeous campsite! One of the best we stayed in Uganda. Also one of the most organised, professional and friendliest. More expensive than the average but for us it was worth the money. The Nile is absolutely stunning from the campsite and we spent two blissful nights here and would have gone back and stayed longer! Toilets and showers are clean and hot and bbq area/firewood was well stocked. You can also buy camping kit from their little shop, this was great for us as it was our first night in our rental car and we were able to stock up on some things that weren’t provided (they were more expensive than had we gone to a local high street but convenient).
Report Check-InSpend 3 nights - very nice campsite & lodge - all you need : hot shower, clean ablutions, free firewood …fantastic views over the Nile
Paid 10 $ pppn worth it !!
Excellent, views are the best, from tbe campsite and restaurant, little jetty and boats, Martin was nice guy, veryvwell thought out place, very helpful. Stayed extra night would have liked to stay more. Better than Kalagala campsite, facilties similar but Havens views are the best.
Report Check-InBeautiful campsite! The owner/manager Martin is a very unfriendly and welcoming man though… cottages are VERY expensive and the restaurant is mediocre.
So camp here (best view in Jinja) but don’t expect a warm welcome (and don’t stay in a cottage). (They charged us 250!! dollar half board for a cottage with a broken shower and no electricity)
Hot showers, free firewood, green lawn, beautiful view.
We stayed at the Haven for more than a week, we loved this place. Rainer, the owner is very helpful, he called a mechanic so we could do the engine oil change right there and did not have to drive into town. He let us park our Defender on his premises while we went to explore Kampala without the car (definitely recommend that, as traffic in the city is crazy).
Food is also great and all the staff very friendly and helpful! This is definitely one of the best camping sites in Uganda! For Overlanders there is a discount, 10$ pppn and absolutely worth it!
Spend 3 nights here. Great campsite with everything you need, including free firewood/charcoal, hot showers, good views over the Nile and a nice swimming pool. Great value for money, definitely recommend. We did rafting with White Nile Rafting (can book via website), also recommend.
Report Check-Inwe spent twice a week and as previously mentioned can confirm nice camp, clean, friendly staff (except Martin Manager seems not to like guests really .. but Prosy female assistant is great and at your service). restaurant on higher price level though choice nothing fancy and quality medium, for vegetarians you need to order what you want then chef tries to meet your request. watch birds (Turaco, Eagles etc), fishermen and monkeys and just relax. 10US$/pppn is ok for a nearly perfect infrastructure.
Report Check-InThis is indeed a very nice campsite. Friendly staff. Great viewsv on the Nile and the falls. Lots at birds.
For overlanders $10 pppn. Children half price.
Very nice campsite, good ablutions, clean, hot shower , swimming pool. We recommend
Report Check-InGreat campsite, probably the best we stayed in Uganda. You can park on the grass with the view to the Nile and rapids. We relaxed here for a week after touring Uganda. Ablutions are good and clean with hot shower. Good pool. $10/pppn (Overlander price with a foreign license plate). Restaurant was nothing spectacular, had one dinner, and pretty expensive. Otherwise, a great place.
Report Check-InAs described. What a beautiful place!
The children loved it, thay played so much!
The ablutions are amazing and we had power from a extension. Food is very good. Definitely worth to stay when you are Overlanders. But $20 pppn is too much for a family... We paid $10 for adults and $5 for children (0-3 is free).
As described by all. You should avoid coming on holidays or weekends, quite crowded. We arrived on Uganda Independence Day and there were a lot of families. Only solar power
Report Check-InWow what a place. This place is seriously underrated on here. Our favourite campsite in Africa, the food was incredible and views over the rapids were insane. David, the manager is the best! He will sort you out with a good deal if you tell him you’re an overlander. Showers and toilets are excellent. Couldn’t recommend enough.
Report Check-In‘The Haven’ is right, what a great place! We came for one night and spent four. The staff are so welcoming. Management are excellent.
As others have said, the views from the campsites are as good as the ones from the bandas! We were able to plug our vehicle into power and use the washing up facilities. They have good hot showers (some of the nicest on our trip) and the ablutions are always clean.
There is a pool with deckchairs that was very refreshing. You could also canoe on the Nile for a few bucks. There are HEAPS of activities for children that we haven’t seen elsewhere, as well as loads of families arriving and enjoying a day of fun. It was really nice to see people getting outdoors. (Board games on offer too 😉)
Report Check-InBest campsite in East Africa. Camping on lawn, direct on the banks of the Nile with stunning view to the rapids. All facilities you need in best condition
Report Check-InLodge with amazing view over the nile River and rapids.
Unlike all other lodges, the campsites here are given really good views and are well separated. Campsites on good shady grass with electricity, ablutions and kitchen area all close by and in perfect condition.
Bar and restaurant also well priced and Breakfast is worthwhile for a treat.
Paid USD10 pppn for "overlander camping" negotiate with the manager.
Report Check-InDisregard negative reviews. Stayed 4 nights in our big rig. We had a wonderful stay. Note, it is advisable to book or ring in advance. Sometimes the place is booked out by one group or a conference, in which case people turning up at the door might be turned away. A great campsite with wonderful views and facilities.
Report Check-InLovely place! Very beautiful place with a fantastic view over some rapids. Fast wifi all over the place. Nice playground for kids and free firewood every day. Catched my first Nile perch here. bicycles availible. 5star ablutions.
We stayed 8 nights. 10US$pp for camping.
Our third visit to The Haven with the beautiful view on river and rapids as a main attraction. Unfortunately it seems that The Haven targets preferably ex-pats and small tour groups with full-board requirements. No overland-vibe anymore. We arrived at a completely empty campsite but were send away as apparently we needed a reservation and/or a group in the chalets would be disturbed by camping visitors. When camping at Kalagala campsite it appeared that over a few days other campers had the same experience. Haven is no longer a favorite campsite
Report Check-InLoved this place and all the praise is right. Excellent food for $12 reduced as we were camping. $10pp to camp. Stayed 3 nights. Highly recommend
Report Check-InAbsolutely great place, great view on the river and the rapids, very well kept camp.
large grassy space for camping under trees.
Very clean abolution. Good fast free internet.food is jummy, pool, towels provided. Boattrips avaliable. Longthermparking for your rig( 1$/day) transport to airport
Camping 10$/pers but it‘s worth it.
Friendly staff, save feeling..we enjoyed very much 👍
As everyone has said, a lovely and very professionally run campsite with stunning views over some of the rapids on the Nile. A couple of electricity points available at the washing up basins. Swimming towels put out by the pool each day for all guests. Foreign registered “overland” cars pay USD10ppn. Also possible if you want to have a full or half board option with meals.
Report Check-InGorgeous place, lovely pool and spacious ablutions. Laundry service 10000 UGX for a bag. Friendly staff.
Report Check-InGreat place with amazing views. Free fast wifi available even at the camping ground. Clean hot showers. Nice food at the restaurant.
Camping for overlanders $10
Breakfast $12
Lunch (soup, main, dessert) $15
Dinner (soup, main, dessert) $18
Beer $1
Fantastic spot as all have said - just to add that they have an amazing playground for kids as well as beautiful pool.
Report Check-InWhat a place. We have spent 5 days here and it’s just so pleasant. Camping spots for RTT and normal tents on grassed lawn on the banks of the Nile, watching the river rafters do the rapids. 10USD pp for Overlanders and facilities for own fires and cooking and great restaurant with great food if you prefer. Ablutions clean and hot water. Swimming pool. Great WiFi and staff all so attentive and helpful. Certainly one of the best camps we’ve experienced. Non Potable water available to fill water tanks in need. Certainly a place to spend some good relaxing quality time in Uganda
Report Check-InNice place to stay a while. Camping: large sites, little shadow very clean ablutions. Nice view on the nile.US$ 10ppn for overlanders. Camper with Uganda plate pay 20US$ ppn.
Restaurant: just in front of the falls that makes a great atmosphere.
Kitchen: Not much to choose but good quality though my vegetables were cold when they came to the table 3 course menue US$ 18
chalets US$ 265 pn.
if you wait for more go to Kluges Guestfarm in Fort Portal. I think these two are the best sites in Uganda
Report Check-InThe best view of any campsite in Uganda. Overlanders pay 10 usd (37,000 ush) pppn but is worth it. Non Overlanders pay double.
Electricity at the camping sink/braii, great bar, swimming pool (you can also swim in the Nile near the rapids) and good, but expensive, food.
We stayed here a week to celebrate a birthday and the staff are great. They fixed a friend's roof tent with a broken zipper and brought firewood when we asked.
Ablutions are really good with warm (solar) showers. Big rig friendly confirmed.
Report Check-InIt truly is an nice place, amazing view on the Nile. It’s now 10USD pppn, dinner 18USD and breakfast 12USD (which is enough to share, we even got coffee and Tea). Kayaks can be for 3USD pp for as long as you want
Report Check-InThey should have called it The Heaven ;-) If you like a quiet place, where you just hear the waterfall and birds, have a beautiful view of the Nile, with electricity
on site, nice and clean ablutions, swimming pool, restaurant with good food and very friendly and helpful staff,
then this is the place to be!
This place is of very high standard. Everything is clean and tidy. Staff very friendly. They even remembered me when i arrived again after 1 week. Firewood provided. Food is exiting and of high quality. But expensive.
Price for camping now increased to 20$ pppn or 10$ pppn for Overlanders (definition of Overlander is flexibel: your numberplate, visiting more than 1 African country on road, ...)
In the end: one of the best campsites i visitet so far.
Report Check-InAs stated by others. Nice lodge and campsite overlooking the Nile at the rapids with swimming pool.
Campsites are grassy, but some places are not level. Good abolution block with warm water, but only one kitchen/braai area with 2 powerpoints for all campsites. You are allowed to make fire on the grass for a nice campfire while overlooking the river. Wifi available on the campsites, but very slow.
The bar/restaurant area is nice and the diner is great and also the breakfast is recommended, especially for big eaters as you will get a lot. TIP: share it if you are with 2 as it is more than enough.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. The helped us with a romantic evening fo our friends. Superbly done.
Excellent camping with beautiful views of The Nile. Each spot has a table and cooking areas and food preparation are provided. As overlanders we paid 7.50 usd pppn. Toilets and showers very clean. Toilets flush on first try. Showers provide warm water and much more than a trickle of water. Meals were very good. The 12 usd breakfast is a huge meal with a variety of goodies - french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs prepared to your wishes, maple syrup, nutella, lots of fresh fruit etc. Real coffee prepared in a french press. You can ask for more of any of the items. Staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. We arrived after dark and relied on google maps. We were sent down a terrible road that does not lead to The Haven. Wasted an hour trying to locate the place. Had we arrived in daylight, we would have seen the signs for The Haven which are clearly posted indicating the way on a fairly good murram road. Pool with sun chairs and towels provided. wifi good.
Report Check-InVery nice location, amazing view to the Nile. Facilities are in a very good condition. Also good for children, playground, pingpongtable and a lot more. It’s a great place to chill and calm down. Still 7,50$ pppn for overlanders, firewood for free, no extra charge for using the pool
Report Check-InLovely site with great view and excellent ablutions, all as described. Showers very good but note they are only hot in the evening. Overlanding price still US$7.50pppn.
Service very good. They will do laundry too - a fairly large bag with bedding cost us UGX20,000.
Food smells good but we didn’t try it as it was too expensive- breakfast $12, dinner $18.
Report Check-InBe aware of your belongings, 1 of our bags got 'missing' here from the motorcycle while they have 24/7 security. And they are pretty close to the camping spot. We left our details but never heard anything from The Haven.
The place does have a beautiful view to the river, especially from the restaurant.
The food was ok but small portion for a main course and for 10 usd that's not good! Looks like they try to push you into the 3 course meal for 18 usd, what it will not be worth in our opinion.
Still 7,50 usd for camping for overlanders.
Report Check-Inwe payed 15 USD pppn for camping with our own tent and a rental car... europeen standards, very clean facilities. Beautiful view over the Nil, had a great dinner but not that cheap (18USD).
Report Check-InIndeed a very nice, quite and green Campsite directly at the Nile. Water Taps, free Wifi (slow to average) and free Electricity (they even got a long extension for us) on Sites! Ablutions were great, hot Shower. You can watch the Rafting Boats pass from your Chair. Nice Pool. Overlander Price (foreign Numberplate) still 7,50 USD pppn (also payable in UGX).
Report Check-InIt really is a beautiful grassy campsite where you can enjoy stunning views over the nile. They have Braaistands and electricity. Ablutions are awesome, hot showers and very clean. Food at the restaurant is good but a bit overpriced. As written below 7.5 $ for cars with a foreign numberplate.
Report Check-InBest campsite we've stayed at in Eastern Africa. It has everything. Beautiful location, level grass camping, clean toilets and hot showers, electricity and much much more.
Report Check-InNice grasfield right next to the Nile, very clean ablutions, hot shower, good restaurant with view to the rapids. Very friendly staff. We stay with our truckcamper under trees and cars with European numberplate pay 7,5 USD pp. You can fill up the watertank with good water. A wonderful place since some months !!
Report Check-InAs already described: great location, friendly staff, well maintained facilities, worth the upprice!
They made me/us bonfire every eve, overlooking the Nile. I can recommend it without hesitation.
ditto what was said. night temps cooled off more than expected. nice shade, abolutions, pool, restaurant, etc. bring a long extention cord if you want power to truck and park near open sink area.
Report Check-InAbsolutely fabulous! Camped in rooftop overlooking the Nile River. Thousands of birds roost in islands by Rapids. Food excellent, bit pricey. Overlanders stay for $7.50pp. Best hot showers we've had in a while. A must-stay camp for sure. Stayed 4 nights.
Report Check-InNot much to add to the previous comments. I can only reiterate that this place is absolutely amazing! Ablutions are by far the best I've seen so far and there is even decent wifi on the camp site.
They do prefer you book in advance but arriving without prior notice is usually not a problem if you want to camp. In the weekends and on national holidays the place can become quite crowded!
Breakfast 12 dollar, lunch 15 dollar, dinner 18 dollar. All very good and plentiful! You can probably suffice with the extensive breakfast until dinner, like I did.
Rafting, boating, horse riding, village walks are all available though maybe not very cheap.
Amazing! Everything everyone else said and more. Or favourite campsite on the whole damn trip.
Report Check-InAbsolutely amazing @ $7.5pp definitely the best camp spot we've had in Africa so far! Fantastic food as well, so don't cook yourself and have a lovely meal for $18pp 3 course!
Report Check-InWhat an excellent campsite, both the campsite location, facilities and friendly staff are defiantly one of the Best on our entire southern and East Africa trip. Unfortunately only able to stay for one night, but this campsite is a MUST!
Report Check-InWe were going to stay for 2 nights ended up staying 6! It really is a lovely place, $7.50 pppn for long term travellers, an amazing view over the Rapids, ablutions are some of the best we've had in Africa, great food in restaurant, $18 for 3 course evening dinner, owner very friendly as are the staff. Pool is small but clean and inviting. A real gem to stay at, don't miss it!
Report Check-InAmazingly beautifull spot! The haven is a little bit like heaven! Good facilities, delicious food, stunning view and as written before, overlanders get the half price so 15 dollar for the two of us.
Report Check-InIn one word, this place is perfect. Stay here a night, or like we did 5 nights! Camping is 15 usd pppn but overlanders discount is half price, thanks!
Report Check-InFantastic setting overlooking the Nile. Discount for long term travelers. 15 USD for 2 persons pn.
